The house was a quintessential seaside cottage that is even better than it looks in photos. It's perfectly maintained had all the right amenities for our week long family vacation for four. (Husband and teenage twin daughters). We had the most amazing time on our trip. It was cozy in feel, but with plenty of space to spread out: comfortable corners and furniture, great upstairs and bedrooms, seaside dining room, amazing kitchen, modern utilities, great bathrooms, fantastic porch space and central air and heat when you need it.
With the kayaks, hot tub and spectacular views there was always plenty to do. The wrap around porch offered tremendous views of the sound in all directions with options for sun and shade. It was very fun to watch the fireworks all along the coast on the fourth of july. The kayaks were a blast for a sunset paddle or all day outing. The jacuzzi was a dream, easy to uncover and operate, powerful jets, clean water, a great view and room for 3 -4. The hikes along the marshes at low tide allowed you to explore in both directions. Each had different views of the Bainbridge coast or city scape views of Seattle. You could enjoy daily visits from all sorts of aquatic wildlife, playful sea otters, many bald eagles, cranes and birds and gulls or all sorts.
we loved to walk along the beach and explore the marshes and sandbars. I would highly recommend this as a getaway. Located in Rolling Bay the house is centrally located, but you do need a car to get around for groceries and shopping. Plus the island offers so much to explore. The narrow shared driveway was a little challenging, but nothing that will keep us from coming back! Overall just a great experience and a perfect spot!
Beautiful home in an amazing location. The ocean brings you a new selection of sea shells every day, and the waves crashing outside the doors at night are soothing. We saw sea otters, Herons and King Fishers, with a beautiful backdrop of Seattle city lights. Bring your binoculars for an even closer look, you won't be disappointed.
The kitchen is a perfect gathering place for 2 adults and 2 teenage girls. There's a Safeway near the ferry, so stop there and load up on groceries. From the parking area, it's a bit of a downhill walk to the house, and you may hear some grumbling from the kids, but they enjoy the uniqueness of it all. The grumbling gets worse on the uphill back to the car :-)
Super quick trip from the house to the ferry. Maybe 8 minutes. We rented a car at Seatac and drove to the ferry dock, and brought the car to the island. We went to Seattle almost every day and spent one day window shopping and having lunch on Bainbridge. Very nice to spend days in Seattle visiting the aquarium, Pike's Market, space needle, museums, shopping, etc. And at the end of your adventure you take the 30 minute ferry back your peaceful place on the island.
Although there are homes on either side of you, everyone keeps to themselves and is doing the same thing you are - enjoying the tranquility and soul food.
My family and I stayed at this house over Memorial Day weekend and were very pleased with our experience. You can't beat the views and the secluded environment of the island. The home itself was great for our small family and we loved sitting on the patio drinking coffee each morning. The island is also incredible and has plenty of things to keep you busy. We'd highly recommend this home for anyone looking for a nice, relaxing getaway!
This was my 50th birthday. . We stayed 4 nights. We saw everything from seals to orcas.. it was perfect and such a beautiful house..
We booked Kristens property at the beginning of May (April 29-May 2) to be exact for our friends 30th birthday. My mind was blown from the minute we pulled up. It was late at night when we arrived. She wasn't kidding when we were told to park up the hill ( as the road is narrow and barely fits an SUV) so we parked and walked down to find a super cute stairway/Boardwalk lit with lights that led us down to the house. It was so awesome. The view of Seattle is breathtaking at anytime of the day. It's way closer than it appears in the photos. The house itself was just right for all 8 of us. We loved cooking in the kitchen and eating out on the deck. The Kayaks and hot tub added to the fun. We got lucky with the weather and had nothing but sun and 80 degrees our entire stay. We couldn't have loved it more. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
My favorite memory was waking up in the middle of the night and walking down the stairs to grab some water from the kithen. Everyone had passed out. It was dead silent, and all I could do was stare out the huge open windows at the city lights. It was pure magic.
Can't wait to come back!
We spent five amazing days in this beach cottage. From the moment we walked down the walk and into the front door we knew we were in for a blessing! The views of Seattle are stunning from everywhere in the house. We slept 12 hours the first night and 7 or 8 every night after falling asleep to the beautiful city lights and the sound of the waves crashing on the breaker wall.
We were in town for a wedding and found ourselves all saying we just wanted to get back to the house! Our son loved fly fishing, kayaking and beach combing. The otter was especially curious about him.
Cooking a meal together in the gourmet kitchen was so much fun. ,You can sit at the island and see the water! I love to wake up early and enjoyed the peace of a morning spa watching the skyline change and a walk into town. Having owned a small cleaning business and being a cleaner myself, I can tell you we were all pleased to walk into a clean place stocked with everything you need. Kristen is an amazing host! She is detail oriented and made sure everything was in order! From shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, dish detergent to laundry pods , blow dryers iron, they have it covered. Even beach towels and plenty of them
We are a game playing family so we tried one of their games "Apples to Apples" it was really fun! This house is comfortable in every way from the furnishings to the beds. This coming from someone currently suffering from a back issue! We all said the very same thing " This place is so hard to leave".
God bless you Kristen, family and staff this was truly a gift!
