About Maria Getoff
Originally from Long Island, I attended law school in New Hampshire and have lived in Del Ray since 2000.
Maria Getoff purchased this Townhome in 2012
Why Maria Getoff chose Potomac West
This is a great townhouse on a nice block in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Metro D.C. Del Ray is featured in several magazines and on tv shows as a great place to live. (Cottage Living, The View). I fell in love with this neighborhood and you will see why!
What makes this Townhome unique
The back yard is like a small oasis. Upper deck with table for enjoying morning coffee, lower patio with brand new stone and comfy seating, and nicely landscaped yard with a fire pit for making S'mores on a chilly evening.

Perfect stay in Del Ray
With this being my first visit to the DC area, I was absolutely blown away with how amazing the Del Ray area was. There are so many restaurants just a few blocks away. We stayed for 5 days and never are at the same place twice. The house was the perfect home base for our DC adventure. Maria was great to work with and made our trip truly wonderful.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed yourselves!
Relaxing home away from home
So much better than staying at a hotel in this area. This super clean home is in a very quiet neighborhood and conveniently close to Old Town and Washington DC sights. Maria has everything we needed to make us feel at home.
Thanks Craig. It was great to have you and meet you and your family.
Great place to stay!!
Awesome communication with host!! Very inviting home in a quiet, friendly neighborhood, and very comfy beds! Close to amazing restaurants and grocery stores. If you have young children, there is a cute playground around the corner. Look forward to staying here again the next time my family and I visit!
A charming house in a nice, family friendly neighborhood. I highly recommend this place.
Thank you so much. I hope you can come again.
Lovely home with many special extra touches.
Maria was a very thoughtful and attentive host. The home is lovely and kept very clean with great kitchen. It was nice to arrive and find some snacks and beverages. House is in a nice residential neighborhood walking distance to restaurants etc. We enjoyed our stay.
See the DIY Del Ray blog post about the home and search for Maria and kitchen. Del Ray's slogan is 'Where main street still exists." Its a very hip, friendly, walkable community. Lots of dogs and strollers! Also very gay-friendly. Along Mt. Vernon Avenue (2 blocks away) you will find a plethora of restaurants, coffee shops, and boutique shops. There are many options for outdoor dining. There is even an adults only sushi restaurant (as well as one that is not so selective!).
Bring home nice meats at the local butcher shop or fancy cheese from the local gourmet cheese shop. A lively farmer's market from May through October. Walking distance to small CVS. One mile to metro station with easy access to Washington, D.C. and all that city has to offer. Bring your bikes or running shoes and hit the Mount Vernon Trail along the Potomac River, which connects with hundreds of miles of other trails. The trail is about 1 mile from the house. The Mount Vernon Trail is a big favorite of area cyclists. The trail offers wonderful views of the Potomac and DC monuments. There are also several points-of-interest along the way, including George Washington's home at Mount Vernon, Old Town Alexandria, Arlington National Cemetery, and the local's favorite Gravelly Point (at the north end of National Airport's main runway).
Old Town, Alexandria, a lovely historic area with great shops and restaurants, is only about a mile away. There is a really large farmer's market there in the summer. Take a ghost tour, or a river cruise, or just wander about some of the side streets to see some lovely historic homes.
If you like yoga or pilates, there is a great studio a couple of blocks away called Mind the Mat. One studio has all hot classes (not Bikram). There are lots of classes from which to choose.
Of course there is then all of Washington, DC to explore, just a 20 minute drive (non-rush hour) or a 25 minute Metro ride. All the museums and monuments are free! The National Zoo is a favorite for families as well.
So much to do and explore!
