Overview

North End Villa Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 4 adults with kids beds for small children).

Just 30 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta airport where the jungle meets the ocean on a beautiful gently sloping hillside, and only 75 yards from the ocean sits Casa Mikayla, a tropical paradise in wonderful, sunny Sayulita! Fully-furnished home features ocean and jungle views from every room, incredible gardens, gated entry with a private ocean view pool all on one-plus acre of private land! Both bedrooms suites have king size beds and one has a panoramic ocean view.

We live right next door to the estate to assure that your vacation will be all you expect it to be. All rooms are furnished with the finest amenities such as Ralph Lauren towels, 250+ thread count all cotton sheets (only natural fiber products are used throughout), down pillows, television with DVD players and a DVD library of TV sets & movies, iPod player, hand woven Guatemalan fabrics for all curtains and pillow covers, our personal art collection from travels throughout Mexico/Guatemala, furnishings that will allow you all the comforts you need while enjoying our incredible villa. Our kitchens are stocked with as many small appliances, coffee cups, wine glasses, plates, bowls, etc. as you have in your own homes. The kitchen ware is matching Fiesta ware. Everything in the kitchen is in abundance.

The villa is located at 'Villas Rana Verde' Sayulita's premiere estate property, we are one of the largest pieces of estate property in Sayulita. The beach across the street is one of the most pristine, sandy, private beaches with the cleanest water in Sayulita. The beach is just a 2 minute walk on cobblestone from our front gate. It is not unusual to be the only person on the beach for 1/4 mile in each direction. There is great surf fishing on the beach right across the street from the estate. The fisherman regularly catch snook, sea bass, grouper and many other varieties. It is a nesting grounds for Leatherback turtles who can be seen in the early morning hours and late evenings during summer months laying their eggs or hiding the nests before their return to the ocean.

We are located about 1/2 mile from the village in the exclusive north beach area of private villas away from the night noise of the village with its roosters (why do they have to start crowing at 2:30AM?), cantinas, and Saturday night disco, and all night drum circles. Your quiet night of sleep is assured. We are directly across from the pristine, private, sandy beach you have ever seen, just a 2 minute walk from our front gate on a cobblestone path. The short 10 minute walk to town can be along the beach or a quiet, low traffic paved road.

We provide everything you need for a luxurious and relaxing stay. Hair dryers in every bathroom, organic fruit from the estate for your table, daily maid and pool service, optional cook, beach towels (chairs and umbrellas too), fresh flowers, the best of everything, all in the very private setting. Our villas can not be seen by each other or by the surrounding villas. Our driver can pick you up at the airport in an air conditioned Suburban with cold drinks of your choice. If you are looking for a very private getaway without even leaving the estate, our cook can prepare the best Mexican meals. She brings her masa dough for tortillas, along with her wooden press (many guests enjoy pitching in and making their own tortillas, it is lots of fun with Lucia), and she prepares salsa, guacamole, rice, beans, and 2 entrees with your choice of chile rellenos, shrimp, fish, chicken, pork or beef. Most guests tell me this is one of the highlights of their trip.

Our lovely estate is home to the most beautiful birds that you are likely to witness outside the most complete aviary of exotic, tropical, colorful birds. We have identified over 100 varieties of these magnificent creatures. There is an even larger abundance if you venture into the nearby jungle.

The best tropical garden in Sayulita is at your doorstep all within the private, gated compound. We have so many varieties of palms, sweet smelling exotic flowers, flowering trees, organic fruit for your table, and much more for your enjoyment. If you love to garden, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to live your dream in a tropical paradise. Meander through our many cobblestone pathways into a tropical botanical paradise seldom seen on private grounds.

We have the best home, pool, garden, location, view and amenities in Sayulita! We are, arguably, the best estate property in Sayulita. No matter how beautiful you imagine our estate to be, when you get there it is twice as beautiful

Experience Mexico at its best. Outside Magazine calls Sayulita 'the best place to hang a hammock.' Check out why AARP magazine article calls Sayulita one of the best places in the world to retire. Good Morning America called Sayulita one of the best places to take a family vacation. The New York Times, San Jose Mercury, LA Times and many more have all written fantastic articles on Sayulita. You will not experience a more beautiful, untouched paradise anywhere!

Our other homes Casa Pajaro and Casa Rana Verde are also located on the estate. When rented together we can provide you with 7 bedrooms, 10 baths, 3 kitchens, 4 pools with built in beds for 17 people. They make a fantastic venue for a wedding celebration, extended family or multi family vacation, holistic retreat or vacation camp!

About Barry and Connie Dumont

Barry & Connie Dumont moved here from Santa Cruz, CA in 2003. They had been Realtors there for the previous 20 years. They have four children, one of whom moved to Sayulita with them and owns and operates Galeria Gypsy in the village of Sayulita. They have always had a keen interest in Mexico and south, and were frequent visitors during the 70s and 80s to Mexico, Guatemala and Columbia. Once the four children had grown, they renewed their love affair with Mexico and made the move to Mexico full time in 2003. They live next door to the villas. They travel to the interior of Mexico and as buyers for their daughter's store several times a year, and when in Sayulita are surfing and enjoying the fantastic laid back lifestyle.

Barry and Connie Dumont purchased this villa in 2003

Why Barry and Connie Dumont chose Sayulita

My wife and I 1st came to Sayulita in 1995. We immediately loved the wonderful ambiance, weather, ocean, beaches and great people. We were living in Santa Cruz, CA at the time, which we love for many of the same reasons. As the years went by we were spending more time each year in Sayulita. We met the previous owners of the property and thought what an amazing piece of property it was and never dreamed that we would one day own it. We thought it had the perfect combination of great ocean views, easy beach access, privacy and great location. After we bought the estate, we moved here full time in 2003 and have never regretted a day. We live next door to the villas full time, so we are here to be sure that your vacation is all that you expect it to be. There is a reason why everyone is talking about Sayulita, but that reason is actually many reasons. It is just a fantastic place to live or visit! Come and visit us and discover why so many of our guests describe our villas in superlative terms. We make it great for you!

What makes this villa unique

Our estate is a fantastic venue for any size group of up to 15-20 people, depending on whether there are families, couples or singles. All 3 villas have their own private pool. Nothing is shared between the villas except the parking area and gated entry. Each villa has its own pool, kitchen, gardens, etc. Our full acre plus property is landscaped with the finest garden in Sayulita. Due to the extensive 15 year garden and other landscaping, there is total privacy everywhere. There is maid & pool service six days a week. There is a fantastic cook that prepares, serves and cleans up after an 8 plate meal for 120 pesos/adult plus the cost of the food. We use only the finest for your bedding, cooking, bathing, etc, so that when you come here, the comforts are much like what you are accustomed to at home. Our driver will pick you up the airport, insuring your comfort and safety to and from the villas. Our ocean views are unsurpassed in Sayulita. It is just a 2 minute walk on cobblestone to the sandy, pristine beach from our front gate, and only a 10 minute walk to the village of Sayulita by sandy beach or quiet paved road. We live next door to insure that your needs are fulfilled. We care about your stay and want to make the best it can be!

We are coming back!

  • 5 of 5

I spent the last ten days at this house with my wife and two of our four children. You cannot tell how good this place is from the website. Every one of our expectations was met or exceeded. The accommodations are great. The linens and towels are of the quality we would have at our own home. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked great meals there - except for the first night's which was prepared by Lucia, the housekeeper, and was by far our best meal of our stay (this coming from a non Mexican cuisine fan; although I may be a convert now!). The staff is superb, attentive and courteous. Barry, the owner followed up with us periodically to make sure we were comfortable and did not need anything. Having staff make our beds, clean our bathrooms and kitchen daily made us feel like being at a hotel, but with the privacy of a house. They even clean the patios and pool. We used the pool every morning and upon returning from the beach in the evenings. The views from our balcony were breathtaking! This was our second visit to Sayulita and the first to this particular house (our favorite now). We rented a golf cart to move about town but walked to the center of town from the house many times - it is a short and pleasant 10 minute walk. The nearby beach is within a one or two minute walk. We definitely recommend this house to anyone traveling to Sayulita. We will have to come back soon to even-out with our other two children! - FB

Tropical paradise

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed a week at Casa Mikayla. The property is gorgeous with lush gardens and cobblestone drive and walkways. The villa staff are friendly and helpful and the house cook prepared a fine meal our first night. Because the villa is on a hill, the views are fantastic with the ocean on one side and lush tropical hills on the other. The villa is decorated with wonderful local folk art. Each wall of the villa's main rooms are filled with beautiful Mexican art. It is only a few minutes walk to a long stretch of white sandy beach and often there were only a handful of people there. It is only a 15 minute walk into town where there are many good restaurants and shops to go to. We rented a golf cart and would travel all around the small town of Sayulita taking in the sites and then shopping or eating great food. We realize that on our next stay in one of Barry's villas will have to be for a longer period of time because we had such a wonderfully fun and relaxing vacation.

Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

My wife an I stayed in Casa Mikayla for 3 Days and had an amazing time. We went to Puerto Vallarta for a wedding and decided to do a side trip to Sayulita. My only regret was not staying longer. The house is amazing, with ocean views, private pool, private patio area for just you! Barry offered a service for Lucia to cook a dinner for us, I highly recommend this as the food was mouthwatering! Try the Chile Relleanos and Chicken Mole. It will be your best meal of the trip. From the time we booked Barry was in constant communication to make sure everything was set for our arrival. It was nice to know the owners weren't leaving anything to chance and really wanted to make sure we had nothing to worry about during our vacation. This will be our new spot and I couldn't recommend it more highly!

Beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time to Sayulita and I had no idea where to stay. Casa Mikayla was the perfect place. Beautiful grounds, gorgeous views, waves crashing at night, very peaceful location. The house exceeded my expectations - fun artwork, tiled showers and kitchen, immaculate rooms, extremely comfortable beds/pillows. The owners have paid attention to detail -- towels, bedding, kitchen appliances, etc. It is an easy 10 minute walk into town (passing restaurants along the way), and the beach is right across the street (less than a 5 minute walk). I would absolutely stay here again.

Casa Mikayla is paradise

  • 5 of 5

The minute we arrived we were in awe of the fabulous gardens with towering royal palms, brilliant bougainvillea, amazing vines and the fragrant scents of jasmine and gardenia filling the air.

Cobblestone paths and walls meander up to the villa. The villa had everything we could possibly want from the cozy open air kitchen filled with beautiful colour and all the amenities to the large bedrooms decorated with the same incredible flair as the rest of the villa. The beds are so comfortable and luxurious , home away from home.

The balcony in the upstairs bedroom is wonderful with panoramic views of the ocean or to just sit, read and listen

to the sounds of exotic birds and waves. Because the villa is perched on a hill we always enjoyed a lovely breeze day and night, no need for air.

Our own private pool was so welcome in the heat of the day. It was a short walk down the road to the beach where you can enjoy the surf or walk to town. Beautiful, quiet and never crowded.

Barry and Connie are the most considerate hosts we could have asked for. They have made the villa like home and thought of every last detail to make our stay enjoyable.

We were thinking it would be fabulous to bring family and friends and each could have their own villa connected through paths to one another, and yet each villa remains private. An amazing layout!

Wish we could have stayed longer

We can't wait to return to this incredible sanctuary

Villas Rana Verde, a finely-tuned pleasure.

  • 5 of 5

If you’re considering a booking for Casa Mikayla or any of the other casas at Rana Verde, don’t hesitate. The accommodations are even better than the photos show. Casa Mikayla is named after Barry’s and Connie’s (the proprietors) granddaughter. If grandparents dote over grandchildren, then you know they’ll dote over something named after their grandchild, and they do. No detail is overlooked, from fast reliable internet to the Hilton-like stack of fluffy cotton towels.

Casa Mikayla is the uppermost bungalow group at Rana Verde, with a captain’s view of the ocean, near enough to hear the soothing sound of the rolling sea, yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town. The lighted path winds up through tropical flowers and plants where exotic birds call out as if scripted from old Tarzan movies. All this creates the perfect background for a romantic vacation or a family gathering.

The mosquito proof bungalow next to your own private pool has two floors. Upstairs a spacious bedroom with a partly shaded deck offers comfortable chaise lounge chairs with the best overview of the neighborhood. The downstairs bedroom looks out on your secluded patio where an umbrella-covered round table and chairs serve as the social center for your group.

Both rooms have spotless bathrooms next to tiled walk-in showers large enough to party in. Intriguing artisan crafts from all over Mexico and Guatemala, gathered by Connie and her daughter, decorate the nooks, shelves, and walls. Every curtain, throw rug, sheet, pillowcase, and bed cover (all cotton) are freshly cleaned with non-perfumed soap.

The kitchen casita, separate from the bedroom quarters, is fully equipped. Obsessive coffee brewers rest easy, because there are enough coffee brewing tools to satisfy a fussy, vacationing barista. The delightful Lucia, who keeps your place spotless, also cooks resplendent Mexican feasts for an extra charge, while Don Jesus the gardener keeps things ship shape.

Barry and Connie have built a stylish, tasteful, well-appointed and safe enclave for the discriminating vacationer. Before settling here, both traveled extensively and lived in many of the places we dream of visiting. They are a wealth of interesting information locally and beyond. Connie is continually on the lookout for improvements no matter how small. For where to go in Sayulita, what to do, or how to do it, Barry, with his endlessly cheerful pirate charm, is the man to ask.
