Galway Barn Rental Photos and Description

Large apartment in stone barn conversion, 2 bedrooms, sleeps 4, 2 bathrooms

This unique holiday accommodation offers a combination of contemporary and vernacular features and furnishings. It is bright, cozy, comfortable and spacious. On the first floor is a large open-plan living space, with a lovely restored French antique stove. Free WIFI, cable television and DVD player. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and the dining area can seat six. A patin door leads out to a small deck and at the garden. Also to be found on this floor is a large double bedroom and shower room.

The second bedroom is located on the ground floor. This room can be offered as either a twin bedroom or a double bedroom - depending on the the guests requirements. This bedroom has a large shower room en-suite.

There is a laundry room facility available in the barn with a washing machine and dryer.

Letteragh House and its barn are surrounded by typical West of Ireland small fields, stone walls and beautiful trees. The property offers a very quiet and private location to guests.

Amazing gem near Galway City! We loved everything about it and we hope to return.

  • 5 of 5

I can honestly say that the Swallow Loft is one of the nicest accommodations we have ever experienced. Owners Peggy and Tony are extremely hospitable, the interior is so nicely designed, and the grounds are outstanding. Plus, we love Molly (the pony in the yard outside of the barn)! Our stay was extremely comfortable, and the location is conveniently situated close to Galway City. My only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer, but hopefully we will return soon so that we can spend more time in this fabulous, rejuvenating haven.

Perfect for hosting family and friends

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent three weeks at Swallow Loft in the Old Stone Barn. The premises have been tastefully restored and decorated with an emphasis on comfort and modern conveniences. The arrangements worked well for family members and friends who visited us at separate times and occupied the apartment on the ground level. Galway was the ideal place for us to explore western Ireland, and it was nice to come back to warm, comfortable surroundings each day. While a car is an absolute necessity, there is a shopping center nearby. We recommend this rental without reservation and would not hesitate to stay there if we return to Galway. And thanks again, Tony, for the book.

Great property 5 minutes from Galway city center

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with my parents, stayed at The Swallow Loft in June 2016 and it was perfect for two couples. It's only a 5 minute drive from Galway city center and there were plenty of car parks; so parking downtown to go out to dinner and walk around was not a problem. There's also a grocery store just down the street, so it was easy to stock up on supplies. My only complaint was that it didn't have a coffee maker (just a French press) and wasn't stocked with paper towels or napkins. You also have to pay for laundry (5 euros per load). But overall is was a very cozy property, exactly what I expected from the photos and Peggy, the owner, was super nice. I would definitely recommend this place to other travelers, especially folks planning to do a lot of day trips (it was a great launching point to visit the Cliffs of Moher, Kylemore Abbey, and the Aran Islands/Dun Aengus).

Wonderful inviting place! We didn't want to leave.

  • 5 of 5

The Old stone barn was beyond our expectations. It is the most inviting place in an absolutely beautiful setting. We enjoyed the hospitality and chats with Peggy and Tony and kitties who also made us feel very welcome. The apartment was lovely. We saw some wonderful parts of Ireland while staying in Galway - horseback riding on the beaches of Cleegan, driving through Connemara, and visiting and roaming around Inis Oirr. We hope to return!

Country luxury

  • 5 of 5

Our hostess sent detailed driving directions before we left for Ireland. Had an easy drive from Galway city (and later an easy walk into the city). The property is surrounded by lovely mature trees and rolling pastures. The stone barn quarters are spacious, extremely clean, and artfully decorated. There is a small deck off the living room for eating outside, if the weather is nice, and one views an enchanting hillside garden. Peggy McConnell is very welcoming and interesting to talk to. She gave us helpful information about places to visit. The accommodations were comfortable, peaceful, well-appointed, and well-stocked. We recommend it for anyone visiting the Galway area.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Our 3 night stay in the Galway area could not have been nicer. The accommodations at the Swallow Loft were perfect for my husband and our two adult children. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of towels. The kitchen was well equipped (however, I did not do any cooking). My husband enjoyed learning to use the french press coffee maker. We were thrilled to have good wifi service. The bathrooms were clean and had great water pressure. The apartments decor was cheerful and relaxing. The resident pony, dog and cat added to the experience. The cat would sleep on the warm car hood.

Peggy had warned us about the narrow road leading to the house. It was a little nerve racking the first couple of days, but the drivers soon adjusted to the narrow, fast paced roads of Ireland.

Peggy was a pleasant and welcoming hostess. She was always quick to respond to any question we had throughout the whole transaction. She willingl took the time to help with directions and suggestions on travel plans.

The location was perfect for day trips to Aran Island, Connemara, and The Cliffs of Moher. We strongly recommend the Sky Road near Clifden. We also had a great visit at the Cliffs by arriving late in the day and experiencing it at sunset.

Traveling during April we expected lots of rainy days. We had perfect sunny and 50' weather. Our only disappointment was the fact the hard winter had caused a delay in the spring plant growth. Things were just starting to bloom.

A perfect holiday. We highly recommend The Swallow Loft.
