Great spot to get into the woods with good amenities. A ton of stairs to get down to the water, but a good amount to space to hang out down there! Strict pet policy so ask for the document before you pay.
Delighful weekend in Bovey near Grand Rapids
Our weekend trip was spent at a beautiful log cabin above Trout Lake.
The cabin looked exactly like the pictures and was wonderfully clean and welcoming. The sleeping accommodations in the loft were excellent and allowed our family of four to slumber party together!
The kitchen was modern and had all the cooking tools we needed!
The landing on the lake, was perfect for our three hammocks and we spent each day lazing on the water, paddling around on the kayaks and generally enjoying the view and sunshine.
Note: The walk up and down to the lake would definitely be prohibitive for those who are injured or have difficulty walking steep inclines.
Relaxing and peaceful
Our group included 5 adults, one child and a yorkie. Plenty of room for everyone. It was clean, updated appliances and large screen tv. There was everything there we needed. Trout Lake was beautiful, the kayaks were fun and great exercise, as well as the hike down and up to lake. We enjoyed making the bonfires and making s’mores.
This was an amazing property and we would definitely come back! Very peaceful and relaxing.
Nice cabin on a great spot. The view is impressive to say the least. Cabin was nice, clean, and cozy. The loft is great for kids.
Beautiful property but COLD
The cabin was very nice and clean. We just arrived for peak colors in the area and it made for beautiful scenery. When we arrived to the cabin it was very cold inside with temps being around 50°F. During our whole trip the highs outside were in the low-30s and the lows in the mid-20s. We soon found that the primary heat source in the cabin was the wood stove. With the wood being wet and difficult to start it took approx. 18+ hours to get the cabin to a comfortable temperature. The next day we found the only usable firewood on site was down 60+ steps by the lake. Most of that day involved hauling and splitting the wood to heat the cabin, it was not how we envisioned spending our "mini-moon". I would not recommend this cabin in the colder months of the year.
Hi Brian, We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage during your stay, but we are sorry that issues with the heat impacted your time at the cabin. All of the wood that the homeowner provides comes from the property, and they apologize that they did not bring the remaining wood from the shoreline to stack closer to the cabin. They feel terrible that you had to move and split the wood during your honeymoon, and they would love the opportunity to make it up to you and welcome you back as their guest the next time you visit Trout Lake! Best, the Evolve Team
