About Paul Matthews
Paul and Sara Matthews are the owners of this cabin which is adjacent to their 200 acre equestrian facility. We have owned this property for 20 years and enjoy it with our two young children, 3 dogs and numerous horses.
Paul Matthews purchased this Cabin in 1993
Why Paul Matthews chose Harbor Springs
We are both natives of Northern Michigan and love community of Goodhart.
What makes this Cabin unique
We chose this property for its size, beauty and the fact that it is surrounded by state land and Conservency.

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here. The cabin is exactly as you see in the pictures provided and it is stocked, so all you’ll need is groceries and bath soap and shampoo and conditioner. The location is beautiful with Legacy Farms down the road and walking trails right next to the property. It’s very private. The screened in porch is so sweet! It’s a short drive to Petoskey and Harbor Springs, so there’s great shopping, and a beautiful drive along Lake Michigan and Good Hart and the General Store. We were able to bring our Chocolate Lab, Ella, who loved the cabin, too! We’ll definitely be back!
Very cute cabin in the woods.
Wonderful place. Very cute little cabin in the woods. Secluded setting, but WiFi kept me connected with the world when I wanted to be!
Enjoyed our stay, very relaxing.
Beautiful cabin with so much attention to detail.
The cabin is secluded in a wooded area, with hiking trails surrounding the property. Cabin was very clean, inviting with so much thought put into design and decoration. Would definitely recommend staying.
Beautiful and peaceful
It was a clean, cozy cabin with all amenities included. It was a perfect get away in a beautiful area. We will for sure be back!
Wonderful, relaxing vacation
The cabin is beautiful and very clean and comfortable.
The kitchen is very well equipped (even has a blender). The bathroom shower has great water pressure. There are plenty of heating mechanisms for chilly mornings or evenings.
I loved having coffee on the screened in porch in the mornings. My daughter enjoyed watching some movies from the DVD collection (lots of family friendly options) and playing Camp, the board game. She also enjoyed having the loft to herself (would only recommend loft for older children as you need to climb ladder to get there).
There is a beautiful forest walking trail that starts just a few feet away from the cabin.
We enjoyed dinner and the amazing view at Legs Inn. We enjoyed pie from the General Store in Good Hart.
There is a type of shooting range close to the cabin (I knew about it ahead of time as the owner mentions it somewhere in the reviews). There is shooting noise that can start as early as 8:30 AM. It is not very loud when you are inside the cabin but can be sometimes when you are outside. If you have kids who wake you up by that time anyway or you plan on being out and about during the day then it's not a big deal. If you want to stay at the cabin all day and need absolute quiet then you should take that into consideration.
This is a new point I feel must be mentioned I Paul Matthews have received in the past 3 years of rental on VBRO 3 complaints from guests about noise from the nearby outdoor club. It is a World Class outdoor skeet and clay pigeon range that the public , including our guests can enjoy and pertisapate inn for a fee, I myself have used this range and there hours of operation are limited to ,open at 8:00am and close at 8:00 pm ,7 days a week and the noise is only noticed when the wind from the East . Beautiful rural setting surrounded by conservancy and state land. Hiking and trails galore! Lots of wild life and bird watching opportunities. Several nice beaches within 2.5-15 miles. Mackinaw Island 40 minutes and a ferry ride away.
