Bernadette Boteilho purchased this cottage in 2006
Michael and Kerry fell in love with the magic of Volcano and the rainforest so much that they bought this hale. They use it as a place to enjoy nature with family and friends. This special get-away spot is like nowhere else on earth and has been a retreat for them, as well as for folks from all around the world. We hope you´ll find some time to experience this incredible place in Volcano, home of Pele, and share some highlights about your stay at Lava Tube Hale with us. Aloha pumehana!
This enchanted cottage helped us enjoy a perfect family holiday and volcano experience. Our grandchildren (age 8 & 10) loved the jungle and the lava tube—and everything else about our visit.
First and foremost the hot tub was absolutely amazing! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it while looking out into the rainforest. We even saw some pheasants walking right by us in the woods. The home itself was very cozy and welcoming. Bernie was very hospitable, even bringing us laundry soap that was missing. The lava tube on the property was also very cool.
We also loved the proximity to the volcano. We spent a day exploring the various paths and sights around the volcano national park, including walking through the lava tube there! It was a great base for the adventure. We also went to the black sand beach down the coast. It was a great to see one of those for the first time, and we even saw sea turtles there.
We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for an adventure exploring. It was also a great place to just sit back and relax. The fireplace inside kept us nice and warm, while the hot tub provided a great place to relax. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and wished we didn't have to leave!
We had a lovely stay in this 2 bedroom cottage. It is cozy with a gas fire in the living room, super comfy beds, and a fully stocked kitchen. The property is beautiful and very private which is perfect for using the hot tub. The flowers, the fruit and breakfast items were a really nice touch. It is about a 15 minute walk to the town of volcano and a very short drive to the national park. We will definitely be back!! Thank you!
This was a fantastic place to stay. Hot tub was a welcome site after the long hikes. Everything was clean and the welcome basket yummy! It was great being so close to Volcano National Park. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to stay while visiting the volcano area.
We stayed at the Lava Tube House for two nights and just adored the home, natural setting, location, and hot tub. We loved how secluded it felt once you entered the property. Once you are in the house, its warm, clean, and homey. The decor was very tasteful and functional. It was only a 15 minute drive to Volcano NP facilities and trails. We were able to shoot over to the museum and observation area at night to see Pele in all her splendor and then go back to the Lava Tube House and cook a nice dinner then relax in the very private hot tub. We needed relaxation, and this place delivers. This little gem is well worth the price! Mahalo, Bernie!
We stayed here for two days in early March. The house was very clean and convenient to the entrance to Volcano National Park. The house is in a quiet area with a nice hot tub on the deck. The house has everything you need for your stay with a full kitchen and laundry area plus extras like fresh fruit, breakfast foods, tea and coffee.
I booked this wonderful place for my parents as part of my mom's 70th birthday present. They were absolutely delighted with everything and gave it a definite five star review. They said it was a perfect location for visiting Volcano National Park and that it was very quiet. Overall, highly recommended!
