I am a hairdresser by trade. I like to snorkel, kayak, and walk on the shoreline looking for treasures. I am French Canadian, born in Montreal. I grew up in Ojai, California. I moved to Hawaii in 1978, and it has been my home ever since.
one of the most beautiful views in the subdivision. One of the largest rental in subdivision. You can hear the ocean while swimming in the pool. Walking distance to Champagne ponds where turtles come to rest. If you are a runner, wonderful running area. Safe and not a lot of traffic.
Lot's of space, not crowded. Large lanai, great whale watching in season. Cleanest air on the planet. You can google that, it's true.
The house was clean and perfect for our group. However the pool as messy. It had dead slugs, centipedes, frogs and bugs in it. The liner on the bottom had mildew and fungus on it. We didn't use the pool as much as we wanted
We absolutely loved this place! You could hear the ocean from inside when it was quiet at night. The rooms were plenty big enough, and the split floor plan (entire kitchen, living room on each floor) made it easy to get some privacy or space if needed. We had extended family with us, but there was room enough to share space. We brought some board games, and enjoyed the serenade of the Coqui frogs while we had fun as a family. Walking distance to the aa lava field and crashing waves (be careful, the rocks are sharp). Near to the champagne pond (we really did snorkel with sea turtles!) and only a mile from the Kapoho tide pools (we went three times!). Louise is a wonderful hostess- she even baked us some homemade bread! She stocked the fridge with some essentials as requested so we didn't have to immediately get groceries. A short drive to Pahoa gets you to a decent grocery store, but special items might require a drive to Hilo (which is a destination in itself- lots to do there, and amazing restaurants!). We highly recommend Kaleo's restaurant in Pahoa- a gem of an eatery. Absolutely would stay here again- central to the volcanoes and waterfalls, hiking, etc. We adored the leisure time by the pool, splashing in the puddles when it rained, and the general Aloha spirit of Louise and her glorious vacation home.
We so enjoy coming to Louise's Kapoho pool house! We enjoy just getting away from the real world, even if just for the weekend. The kids like that they can walk down to Champagne pond to swim and come back and jump into the pool. Can't wait for the next Kapoho adventure!!
Kapoho pool house was perfect for our party of 8. Nice gathering areas plus plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for all. The kitchen and laundry facilities were well maintained and most importantly to us, very clean.
Our family really enjoyed our stay at the Kapoho pool house. Located in a quiet neighborhood and walking distance to the Champagne ponds that my kids loved. They also appreciated all the pool toys that were available for use as well as the Boogie boards we took to the beaches. For snorkeling, the Kapoho tide pools are a short 10 minute drive from the house and are spectacular on a sunny day! The house is big and roomy and the sunrises from the Lanai were beautiful with breakfast. Nearby Pahoa has all the necessities as well as a few good restaurants. We can highly recommend Kaleo's, truly outstanding food. Volcano National park is a 1 hour drive and completely worth the visit (go in the afternoon and stay for the lava glow at sunset).
But what makes this property unique was the host. Louise was very accommodating for our last minute visit, fluctuating number of guests, as well as midnight arrival and late departure. She even did some grocery shopping for us so that we had food for breakfast that first morning! Very friendly, she provided our family with thoughtful parting gifts and our boys still talk about how nice Louise was! She really completes the experience, thank you Louise!
We checked in on a Friday and was greeted by Louise. She was very welcoming and friendly. I have family that lives in that area and they came over during the day. They had a great time as well. The beach is located within walking distance from the property although we used the pool majority of the time. On the last night that we stayed the electric went out due to a down power line and Louise provided us with lanterns and flash lights. This is a great property and we an amazing time at the Kapoho pool house.
Secure gated community with ocean access. Walking distance to thermal heated pond, 'Champagne Pond' where you can often see turtles. Biking, swimming, snorkeling, surfing, and kayaking can be done here.
