In photograph I am on the right. I am a hairdresser by trade. I like to snorkel, kayak, and walk on the shoreline looking for treasures. I am French Canadian, born in Montreal. I grew up in Ojai, California. I moved to Hawaii in 1978, and it has been my home ever since.
Why Louise chose Kapoho
one of the most beautiful views in the subdivision. One of the largest rental in subdivision. You can hear the ocean while swimming in the saline pool. Walking distance to Champagne ponds where turtles come to rest. If you are a runner, wonderful running area. Safe and very few cars.
What makes this House unique
Lot's of space, not crowded. Large wrap around lanai, great whale watching in season. Some of the cleanest air on the planet. You can google that, it's true.

We couldn't have asked for more!
Louise"s home is not only beautiful, but ideal for a large party, including kids. 2 levels of Hawaiian living, with 2 kitchens, more-than-ample sleeping space, and a fabulous pool! The kids loved it, and parents and grandparents loved it even more. Plus laundry facilities, lots of pool toys (including a large crate of new ones which arrived during our stay), and snorkeling and beach equipment to boot. Walking distance to Champagne Ponds (don't miss that!) and short drive to Tidepools. We were all gushing about our rental the entire time and on the trip back to (freezing!) Minnesota. Louise checked in by e-mail to make sure we were having a good time as well. This was an amazing find! Thank you VRBO!!
Thank you for your kind words Steve. The house is still going through a remodel between guest’s, and things are only going to get better. Photographs will be updated as soon as I return from England. It is a beautiful house, spacious and inviting. The 2 kitchens and living rooms make it ideal for larger extended families. Not only is it in a gated community, but the property also has a lovely private entrance and I’ve always loved the “honu”. Turtle on the gate. Mahalo “thank you” again, I loved having you all. Aloha, Louise
Wonderful stay, perfect location, great host!
We were 2 families with 4 teens between us. We loved our stay and highly recommend Louise's Kapoho Pool House! Having 2 separate but connected apartments, each equally comfortable and well equipped, worked perfectly for us. The apartments are connected through an internal staircase, which was lovely.
We cooked and ate our meals together in the upstairs kitchen but enjoyed having kitchens in both apartments for a bit of independence. The kitchens were very well equipped and we had everything we needed to comfortably make most of our meals during our stay. The wrap around upstairs lanai is heavenly, providing a beautiful view, easy access to upstairs, and a lovely breeze. The beds were comfortable and Louise provides a great number of towels. There is a washing machine in the pool supplies room and a nice set of lines and clothes pins to hang laundry while you are away exploring.
It was wonderful to have the pool right outside and Louise has a huge assortment of fun water toys, including 4 large floats (a whale, a crab, turtle and a ray) that the teenagers adored, as well as many fun water toys for younger kids, water shoes, snorkeling fins and masks, and a couple of folding chairs. Two nearby units appear to share the pool, but we were the only ones using it during our stay. (And our neighbors seemed very nice.)
Our group also loved the champagne pools, which are just a short walk away. They are small protected pools in the lava, filled with both fresh and ocean water, very warm although still refreshing, and occupied by fish of all sizes and colors. If you swim out past the most protected part, you get a bit cooler water and more and larger fish. A great place for beginner snorkelers and for relaxing under a palm tree enjoying the breeze and ocean view.
The location was great for us as well. It is very close to the Kapoho Tidepools, which were beautiful, and to the small town of Pahoa, where they have a really fun farmer's market on Sundays. It is a great launching spot from which to visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which was just tremendous. We spent most of 2 days there. The home is about 45 minutes from Hilo, which we visited several times and enjoyed. Altho' not in town during our visit, Louise was available and very helpful by e-mail; a kind and welcoming host! There is no AC, but ceiling fans in all rooms worked perfectly for our needs. We were super comfortable!
Quiet peaceful location
We travelled as a large group of 9 adults. We had everything we needed here. The lush landscape in this area is beautiful and the sound of the frogs at nice was peaceful. Lots of room for us to sit around for coffee and eat meals together. If you stay here, make sure to check out the tide pools - cool experience. Having our own pool was great. We had some nice weather during our stay and some rain. Louise kept in contact with us to ensure our trip was going well.
Wonderful stay with a very accommodating host! We'd definitely stay again
Definitely recommend staying here. We had a bit of an issue with the other house we had already arrived to, so we needed to find somewhere on very short notice. Louise was more than helpful and empathized with our situation. She was quick to get back to us and was flexible with all the requests we had.
The area was awesome and perfect for walking around. The pool was a gem and made all of our husbands very happy.
Thank you Louise for helping to make this a dream vacation!
Only superlatives come to mind
Thank you for offering a home-away-from-home for a memorable three generation family vacation. We used every inch of the layout, and loved having two floors. The pool- and pool equipment/toys- were used every day. We loved exploring several local options for excellent snorkeling some of which are even in walking distance. We hope to come back - and I'll highly recommend your place to others too.
It’s always such a pleasure to have people stay that enjoy the sea as much as I do. Pool equipment and toys are always updated for maximum fun and relaxation. Waiopae is such a lovely place to snorkel. The brilliant colors of the fish is always a alluring adventure.
Immaculate and ideally located
We had a wonderful time in the area that started nearly every day with a snorkel in Champagne Ponds. One morning it felt as if we were swimming in a salt water aquarium with beautiful fish and crystal clear water. Kapoho tide pools was close enough to go every day for just a few hours - and the snorkeling was amazing! The house was spacious and gave room to everyone for private relaxation time or a group meal prep. Perfect end to our Big Island vacation.
Secure gated community with ocean access. Walking distance to thermal heated pond, 'Champagne Pond' where you can often see turtles. Biking, swimming, snorkeling, surfing, and kayaking can be done here.
