About the property

Remodeled cottage on small lake. Near TC~yet feels so far away. Great sunsets

Equal distance from downtown Traverse City and Interlochen Center for the Arts; this is the relaxing spot to return to after a day of adventuring in and around our region. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is 30 miles northwest.

Remodeled, completely winterized 2-bedroom cottage with an open-air design. All the amenities are here for a relaxing stay. A fully equipped kitchen (no dishwasher). One bathroom with endless hot water. Washer/dryer on site. Lots of linens and towels provided.

Fast Internet. Cable TV, Blueray available.

7 miles to downtown Traverse City. Boone's Long Lake Inn is less than a mile away ~ a local favorite for dining and music. The original Moomer's Ice Cream Shoppe is 3 miles from the cottage (on the way to Sleeping Bear)

The cottage sits on a quiet, dog-friendly lane. There is a fenced-in area for your pet.

Beautiful sunsets most every night. The deck overlooking the lake has a dining table and plenty of seating. There is a two-burner gas grill on the deck.

The fire pit area down at the beach is great for S'mores or whatever.

Two kayaks are available; the green one is a fishing kayak and a red 'Loon' kayak. Two fishing poles are provided. The dock and raft area can also be a great place to fish. You are sure to catch a Bass or a Blue Gill. The lake is sandy bottomed, very clear; but not great for swimming. The Blue Heron has been showing up most mornings.

Detailed maps of nearby bike, walking trails, swimming lakes and beaches; along with winery/brewery brochures, and things to do are available at the cottage.

Two bikes are available for your use; as is the two-car garage.

Smoking outside, please. Thanks!

Why Joni Robb chose Northern Michigan

Because of the sunsets! I love the quiet location ~ so close to Traverse City and Interlochen Center for the Arts; yet there is a real country-feel to this area.

What makes this house unique

The Location! Again, those wonderful sunsets. The quiet..... the Up North feel.....This is a year-round home so all the amenities are here. Great for relaxing, dog walking, biking, kayaking, fishing (Dyer Lake is teeming with Bass and Blue Gill).

"Cozy Cottage" is truly cozy.

  • 5 of 5

We found the "Cozy Cottage" to truly be a cozy get-away for three adults. Joni was an excellent hostess and the cottage had everything that we needed. We liked the fact that it was an easy drive to both Interlochen and Traverse City and we will definitely stay there again the next time just a few of us are in the area.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Thought we were booking on Long Lake but it was a smaller, quieter lake. Great views of the water with lots of ducks and geese to watch. We were close to everything that we wanted to do, shopping, golfing and eating. The cottage was a great size for us - 2 adults and 2 small dogs. Very comfy furniture and nicely decorated. Still had beautiful flowers all around the outside which added to the cuteness of the cottage. This is the first vrbo rental that we actually met the owner. Joni greeted us and made us feel very welcome.

Beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time on our trip and this home was in a perfect location! Secluded and away from it all but close enough to traverse city where we could go into town without having to drive too far. Wonderful views of the small lake from inside the home and we loved being able to use the kayaks. Would recommend and come back for sure!

Everything we wanted

  • 5 of 5

Thank You to Joni. This was by far the best VRBO experience I have had. From the second my wife and I walked through the front door of the cabin we were satisfied. Being form out of the area and not having very much experience in TC we were still looking for some things to do around town. Joni had endless recommendations and they were all great (especially Moomer's Ice Cream). The location of the cabin is perfect. It allows you to get away from the city and have a peaceful night to yourself but close enough that if you wanted to head back in it's not a problem at all. The yard was maintained great and there was firewood ready for us when we got there. The grill on the porch works great. The kayaks were awesome after a long day out hiking and biking, they allowed us to relax and just float around the lake. The lake itself was incredibly clear throughout. The bottom is very sandy however and it doesn't get very deep, it much more of a pan-fishing (and small largemouth bass) than it is a swimming lake. The owner did provide a fishing pole for the week that I used sparingly as we were pretty busy, but when I went to the dock I would catch a fish every cast with just a worm and bobber. The fishing would be great for children and those who lack patience. Overall I can't think of a single thing that was negative about our stay. It was perfect from start to finish. Thank You Joni for opening up the Cozy Cottage and I hope we can return in the future.

A lovely place to be

  • 5 of 5

Thank you, Joni, for sharing your cottage with us! We truly enjoyed our time there. When we arrived, Joni was there to go over everything and available when needed. The property is very well-maintained in a quiet area but close to Traverse City. Loved being able to bring our dog, but you wouldn't know that dogs were allowed given how clean it was. Beautiful views, nice fire pit, great central location, wonderful to have kayaks on-site to use rather than bringing or renting our own. Had everything we needed. Hoping to return next year!

Equal distance to Interlochen Center for The Arts and downtown Traverse City, this is a remodeled, winterized cottage with a deck that overlooks a small lake. Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore is 30 miles northwest and Crystal Mountain Resort is 25 miles southeast.

The living/dining/kitchen area offers a spacious feeling. The dining room table can accommodate six. The kitchen is fully equipped with a food processor, blenders, and lots of pots and pans. All the amenities are here except a dishwasher.

Two bedrooms ~ the lakeside bedroom has a queen and the smaller bedroom has a full-size extra long bed. The living room couch folds out to a queen bed. We also have an air bed. One bathroom with endless hot water. Washer/dryer on site. Linens and lots of towels provided. An assortment of teas, plus coffee pot, coffee, condiments and filters.

CABLE TV with loads of channels (beginning in May), Apple TV available, along with a Blue Ray DVD. The Internet is fast! The username and password will be on the dining room table.

Great Blue Gill and Bass fishing ~ Bring your poles! You can launch the two kayaks (one is a fishing kayak) from the raft and dock.

Sit on the sofa and watch the sunset every evening ~ maybe the Loon will stop by or a Blue Heron.

A four-burner gas grill sits on the deck with outdoor seating. There's also a charcoal grill available with fuel. A natural setting, on a quiet, dog-friendly lane.

Maps, brochures, and things to do are available at the cottage.

Pets are very welcome ~ they're part of the family, right? Smoking outside, please. Oh, and no candles inside. Thanks!

Guests will have access to the two-car garage.

I prefer to meet you when you arrive to do a walk-through and answer any questions you may have. I appreciate a phone call when you leave the cottage at the end of your stay. And, if you're so inclined, you can strip the beds and put the linens by the washer.

I love this quiet neighborhood, the sunsets over the lake, the solitude; and yet, it is so close to all the things I love. The proximity to Traverse City, Interlochen, Leelanau and Benzie Counties make it a perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring.
