Enjoy two of the world's finest resorts at this 2 bedroom 2 bath luxury ground floor condo at Kumulani at the Uplands of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. This peaceful gated community is on the Hapuna/Mauna Kea Resort property just above the hotels. Enjoy beautiful ocean views and sunsets from most of the unit. This unit offers the most privacy of any ground floor unit. It is perched above and to the side of the pool to enjoy beautiful views from a location with little to no foot traffic other than your own out to the wrap around lanai and grounds in front of you.

Available with your reservation is an extension of our membership in the popular Club at Mauna Kea Resort, which allows you to enjoy the amenities of both luxury Hotels located here – Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna Beach Hotel. You may choose this for a fee which is paid directly to the hotel with your guest registration that will be sent to you separately (see below) or you may enjoy the world famous Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Beach from the public parking access at no cost to you. Hapuna Beach has unlimited public access at the South end of the beach and Mauna Kea allows 40 cars per day at the public access parking lot at the South end of the beach.

We provide you in our unit with beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, cooler, and plenty of beach toys for the little ones. A cabinet full of books and cookbooks is provided along with puzzles.

With purchase of the amenity package you have unrestricted access to both the Mauna Kea Beach & the Hapuna Beach Hotel facilities with keycard parking at the private access. Please note that Guest Registration Fees changed for all guests renting private homes and condos for reservations made after 12/1/17.

The Mauna Kea/Hapuna amenity package/Guest Registration Fee schedule has been revised per the chart below. Please note that this is a daily fee per 2-bedroom home/condo (rates are now based on 2, 3 or 4+ bedrooms) up to 20 days and a flat per stay fee for designated periods thereafter. Note all fees are plus tax.

Renters Up to 20 Days $ 75 per day

Renters 21-30 Days $1,125 Flat Charge

Renters 31-45 Days $1,875 Flat Charge

Renters 45-60 Days $2,250 Flat Charge

Privileges include: charging privileges like a hotel guest, preferred parking with keycards, 2 fitness centers, access to tennis court time at hotel guest rates at the Mauna Kea (oceanfront courts!), discounted golf rates at both hotel courses and hotel pool and beach access (free use of lounge chairs, cabanas, umbrellas, beach towels and showering facilities)

This condo sleeps 4. Master Suite has a king bed, TV, large tub, walk in shower and closet. Enjoy beautiful views to the ocean or walk out to the lanai. Guest suite has king or 2 twin beds made to your preference and private bath.

High speed cable with wireless is included along with 2 LED TVs (Great Room & Master Bedroom). A telephone is provided for local calls and free long distance to mainland USA and Canada!

Your kitchen is well appointed and fully furnished including many spices and items to cook wonderful meals. We just added a Nespresso and Milk heater/frother to make Lattes and Cappuccinos. So BRING YOUR OWN ORIGINALLINE PODS. “Da Fish House” is only 5 minutes away where you can purchase that day’s catch and grill up on the new Weber gas grill (purchased July 2017) on your own lanai. Plenty of fresh groceries are obtained at the nearby Foodland or enjoy the numerous fine restaurants on the hotel properties or nearby.

Washer/Dryer along with all products you may need are provided. It is fully air-conditioned and has ceiling fans in the great room and both bedrooms.

Besides the Club at Mauna Kea, Kumulani has its own private pool and hot tub.

This condo is located 30 minutes from Kona International Airport (KOA) with many upscale restaurants and shops either on the resort grounds or within a short drive.

About Susan Scanlan

Susan & Tony purchased this condo in September 2013. After many visits to all the islands we knew the Big Island was the place for us and we visit often. Activities abound and the diversity of the Island offers endless opportunities for exploration. Tennis is our game and there is nowhere more beautiful to play than the courts at Mauna Kea. We also love to snorkel and have found the beaches on the north end of the Big Island to be the most beautiful in all of Hawaii with the best coral and variety of fish. We continue to find secret coves all over the North Kohala coast for easy snorkel access. We hope others will experience what we have found: a place to restore your spirits, ease your mind and delight your heart.

Fantastic stay

This is a lovely condo that worked very well for our family of four on our Kona vacation. It is situated on well manicured grounds, quiet and very comfortable, spacious, with full kitchen, dining table, living room, 2 televisions which we didn’t use since island outdoor activities were so much more compelling, gorgeous master bathroom with walk-in closet, 2 well-sized bedrooms with ample storage space for clothing, good A/C plus electric ceiling fans in every room. Well-stocked kitchen and linens. Susan was quick to respond to questions. We were very happy with the condo and we would definitely come back!

Great property, great location

We visited in late February and had an amazing time. The property is beautiful, clean, spacious, and very well furnished. The location near the Mauna Kea and Hapuna resorts was ideal for us. Everything we needed was there when we arrived and the property owner was amazingly helpful and hospitable. We really had to drag ourselves away at the end of our trip and can't wait to come back again as soon as possible.

Everything was great and as advertised.

We were very happy to get there and find everything was as good as advertised. The condo was very comfortable and well appointed. The location was perfect! Beautiful views from the lanai provided plenty of terrific opportunities for sunset photos. Close to both the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Prince, it was super convenient for relaxing days at their beaches. Overall, the owner provided for everything. I can't imagine that any owner could have done more to make the renter happy. If you rent this property and you do not have the best vacation ever, you are simply not trying. Just got home and already we are planning our next stay at this condo.

One week in paradise

We (two adults, two teenage boys) spent a week at this condo during the first part of January. The condo is large, comfortable, and perfectly appointed. We usually don't spend much time in our condo/hotel rooms on vacations, but we spent a lot of afternoons just relaxing here because it was so peaceful and welcoming. The common areas of the condo (dining room/living room) have basically a wall of glass so you can just look straight out and see the ocean on the horizon. It was wonderful to see the dramatic sunsets right from the condo.

We did do the amenity package with the nearby hotels, and it was nice to have an access card for parking. We don't play tennis or golf so I'm not sure it was completely worth getting it, but it did make it more convenient. Susan is a great owner to deal with -- probably the best I've ever interacted with on VRBO. There's a binder in the condo that lists other nearby beaches to explore and we found that very helpful. We thought location was ideal -- near great beaches, a grocery store, and restaurants and other shopping. We loved our time in the Big Island and at this condo. Highly recommend!

Loved this condo and location and Hostess

Awesome 6 night stay for 4 in a great condo with views, comfy beds and a very gracious host Susan - the Mauna Kea and Hapuna Hotels are well worth the daily Amenity fee and the location is unparalleled. We got snow on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on our last day too. We especially appreciated the excellent communication by Susan so that there were no unanswered questions and the kitchen was well stocked with things like ziplocs, coffee maker options, spices, etc. Can't wait to return!! The Kumulani complex is awesome and we loved Susan's unit I-2
