About Damon Rogers
Welcome! We are Damon and Mark Rogers, the grateful custodians of Damon's family home where we retired in 2000 after 30 years of Navy life. Mark is a retired Naval Officer, and we have been very fortunate to have lived and travelled all over the world. The family home was built in 1919 and Generals Retreat and Captains Quarters (VRBO Listing #496791), two of our rental properties located behind the Big House, were originally built in 1970 as a guest home and office suite. Much of the surroundings you'll see when staying at one of our vacation rentals in Franklin have been gradually collected during our Navy years and represent our strong Southern heritage and love of antiques.

What makes this Cottage unique
This charming guest home is situated at the back of the property of our original 1919 historic home, Stone Oaks. Step inside and you will feel right at home. The cherished family heirlooms - both furniture and art - each have their own story to tell. The plantation shutters throughout give homage to the Charleston, SC heritage and afford gorgeous views from throughout the home. The screened-in porch and outdoor patio overlook a 3-board fenced side yard where you can enjoy games of badminton or cornhole, or simply sit in the yard in Damon's grandmother's glider and chairs under the oldest Elm Tree in Williamson County. We believe that this property is the best kept secret in Franklin and are delighted to share it with you. This guest home was built as a home and has all the amenities of a bigger house on a smaller scale. This property sleeps 4 but adjacent to Generals Retreat is Captains Quarters (VRBO Listing #496791), which sleeps 2, and both can be booked for a total of 6 people.

A beautifully decorated historical cottage
We stayed at the General's Retreat for ten nights and loved every moment. The cottage is very comfortable and well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook any meal we wanted. The grounds are very lovely and with the large trees it stays cool even in the heat.
The owners were as welcoming as you could wish and made us feel like family. We would recommend the General's Retreat for everyone who would like to have a wonderful time in Franklin, TN.
Thank you! We loved having you and miss you! Come back anytime and we do appreciate your generous and kind review!
The warm and inviting home of General’s Retreat is in a fabulous location. It is approximately 1/2 mile from down town. Beds are comfortable and the furnishings are so interesting. The fact that it is dog friendly is a huge plus. Only downside is other people staying elsewhere on the property walking their dogs with no leash and never picking up after them. I did have the misfortune of stepping in it first night there and it became more plentiful as the days went on. It makes it hard to find nice pet friendly locations when owners are not always responsible and pick up after their pets.
The home is very well stocked , and the washer and dryer and dishwasher were great bonuses.
Thank you for allowing us to use this great house.
Everything was great we had a wonderful time. Great location.
As always renting from the Rogers' is a pleasure. We typically come to Franklin in the spring, but were able to get away for the Dickens Festival and Leipers Fork Christmas Parade this year. Our daughter was able to be with us this time and the property worked wonderfully for us. Mark and Damon are great hosts.
The house and property were lovely, quiet and clean. There was a sense of serenity there.
My husband and I met our son, wife and new baby for a weekend together. Damon was ready for us and attentive to my communications. The bedrooms were separated by the common living spaces, thus affording privacy and quiet. There was an elegance to this property that was uplifting. We would recommend it!
Very Well-Equipped and Maintained Home
We spend six nights in this rental home. The owners, Damon and Mark, were very responsive throughout the rental process and during our stay. The home is very spacious, clean, well-equipped, well-furnished, and well-maintained. The banana bread given by the owners was a treat. The king-size bed was very comfortable. The heating and air-conditioning worked well.
There is a refrigerator/freezer with an automatic ice maker. The dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer worked very well. There is a Keurig coffee maker, and the owners left K-cups for our use. The WiFi was excellent.
There is plenty of parking available. The house is within easy walking distance of downtown Franklin and a large park. There are many excellent restaurants in the area.
We had one problem with slow drainage from the shower and toilet. When I brought it to the attention of the owners, they had someone here to fix it within an hour. We had no further problems.
I highly recommend this property.
