Why mark chose Kona Coast

We fell in love with Kona immediately. We found this home and knew it would be a wonderful place to share with friends and family.

What makes this house unique

Private swimming pool and spa and 180 degree views, spectacular sunsets, 2 minute walk to Honls Beach for surfing and snorkeling or a picnic lunch and a short walk to Historic downtown Kailua-Kona. This home is right in front of the Ironman turn-around buoy where spinner dolphins often congregate. You will see whales in season and many other ocean species. Comfortable Hawaiian living at it's best! All 3 upstairs bedrooms have a lanai with great views. The tradewinds flow through this house beautifully.

Good for the heart and soul!

  • 5 of 5

Where to Begin? This holiday was a journey for our family... We had originally planed a vacation with our best friends who not able to join us due to health reasons... Mark became a friend with a kind ear and heart who made it possible for us to continue on with our holiday plans... We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home and on the Big Island... Every day we would walk through the front doors and gasp at the stunning view! Those doors that open up and bring the outside in are the best! The kitchen is stocked with everything you need and more...My 4 year old lived in the pool and became a great little swimmer on this holiday! My 16 year old loved playing on the lava rock and checking out the crab and the local eel... We made it to a different beach every day, each one was unique and had something different to offer! We hope to be back in future... Thanks again Mark, Mahalo

This house made it hard to leave!

  • 5 of 5

Had an amazing time...first visit to Hawaii, we will be back again! Every single time we came back from town, we would walk through the front door and gasp...the view and the ocean breezes are just incredible. Sitting in the pool/hot-tub and watching the waves is by far our favorite memory. We walked to the Kona Hotel Luau one night, that was fun...ate at Splasher's twice (once breakfast, once dinner, both yummy). Drove across the island to Hilo and explored the 'jungle side' one day, that was worth the trek!

The house was spotless, and the updated kitchen was beautiful, fully stocked. The upstairs bedrooms/bathrooms are a bit dated, but it felt kind of retro, and very 'vacation-y'! Sherry met us at the house the night we arrived, and was very kind & accommodating...the 1st night we were there the hot-tub wasn't warming up, and she had her husband out to fix it right away, and it worked perfectly after that!

Can't say enough good things about this house, thanks Mark for letting us stay!

Perfect! Dolphins every morning!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! You walk in the front door and are treated to a panoramic of ocean, with a glorious breeze and the sound of gently crashing waves. Dolphins right there in front of the house! You pinch yourself, because it feels like a dream. After a few minutes of disbelief...this place does exist, you will tear yourself away to explore the accomodations! We traveled with two families, and this house was very comfortable for eleven people. The owner has thought of so many things to ensure the comforts of home. The kitchen was well appointed for large family meals. The bathrooms are super comfortable, with tall shower heads and spacious easy entry showers. The place feels like a beach house, with worn wooden stairs that creak just enough to remind you of traditions made here. The windows open everywhere, there are places to find privacy and great places to gather. The pool and spa are lovely. The outdoor furniture was plentiful. There were great beach chairs and ice chests for outings. We made great memories here. We can't wait to go back!

The Big Island at its best

  • 5 of 5

Spent 13 days at Mark's beautiful house. Brought the whole family! Grand kids, sister-in-law, and niece. Ten total. The house was perfect. Loved having the pool right outside for everyone to enjoy. Views are nothing short of spectacular. Mark has the house equipped with anything you might need. He also checks to make sure you are well taken care of often. The toughest part of the vacation was leaving! Thank you so much Mark for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful place! Mahalo!

An Unforgettable Family Reunion Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of nine, including a 1 1/2-year-old, who traveled from all over the country to this house in Kona. The view from the house is truly amazing and the sunsets are so incredibly beautiful. The owner, Mark, and the manager, Chris, are very helpful if you need anything, and are available by a quick text or call.

The house is stocked: flashlights, bluetooth speakers, plenty of dishes & bbq gear, snorkel gear, water shoes, bicycles, beach toys and pool floaties galore, beach chairs & umbrellas & sand mats, an ice chest, movies, games, boogie boards, binoculars, shampoo & conditioner, first-aid kits, and more. It's true—only the master bedroom has AC, but no one complained a bit. We didn't even use the AC in the master. Every room has a ceiling fan, plus many other floor fans and if you open the windows at night, you get a lovely breeze and the temperature is perfect. There are only 2 showers, which worked fine if everyone doesn't mind sharing.

You can walk or take the bikes a short 10-15 minutes into town for food, drinks, or the market. The Green Flash, a wonderful coffee shop/breakfast spot with amazing smoothies and sandwiches, is just a 5 minute (less than a half mile) walk south of the house—highly recommend it.

The pool and the lanai make this house. The saltwater pool is basically built in the ocean—it's so close the waves splash up and into the pool sometimes! I can say our toddler daughter learned to swim by herself in the pool, and had SO much fun in there! We had a little trouble with the hot tub the first couple days, but Mark sent someone over as soon as he could and helped us figure it out. It gets nice and hot and feels so nice to sit in while watching the sunsets! You could look out and see little crabs on the rocks. You could see spinner dolphins right out in front of the house almost daily. And at night you could see and feed eels in the waters below the hot tub!

It rained a lot during our stay, which I think is kind of unusual for Kona, but it definitely didn't ruin our trip! We would all be sitting outside at the table under the cover, and it would start raining hard and sometimes we hardly even noticed—the good times continued on. The house was the perfect location to meet up with our relatives—we would all come back in a heartbeat!
