Why mark chose Kona Coast

We fell in love with Kona immediately. We found this home and knew it would be a wonderful place to share with friends and family.

What makes this house unique

Private swimming pool and spa and 180 degree views, spectacular sunsets, 2 minute walk to Honls Beach for surfing and snorkeling or a picnic lunch and a short walk to Historic downtown Kailua-Kona. This home is right in front of the Ironman turn-around buoy where spinner dolphins often congregate. You will see whales in season and many other ocean species. Comfortable Hawaiian living at it's best! All 3 upstairs bedrooms have a lanai with great views. The tradewinds flow through this house beautifully.

An Unforgettable Family Reunion Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of nine, including a 1 1/2-year-old, who traveled from all over the country to this house in Kona. The view from the house is truly amazing and the sunsets are so incredibly beautiful. The owner, Mark, and the manager, Chris, are very helpful if you need anything, and are available by a quick text or call.

The house is stocked: flashlights, bluetooth speakers, plenty of dishes & bbq gear, snorkel gear, water shoes, bicycles, beach toys and pool floaties galore, beach chairs & umbrellas & sand mats, an ice chest, movies, games, boogie boards, binoculars, shampoo & conditioner, first-aid kits, and more. It's true—only the master bedroom has AC, but no one complained a bit. We didn't even use the AC in the master. Every room has a ceiling fan, plus many other floor fans and if you open the windows at night, you get a lovely breeze and the temperature is perfect. There are only 2 showers, which worked fine if everyone doesn't mind sharing.

You can walk or take the bikes a short 10-15 minutes into town for food, drinks, or the market. The Green Flash, a wonderful coffee shop/breakfast spot with amazing smoothies and sandwiches, is just a 5 minute (less than a half mile) walk south of the house—highly recommend it.

The pool and the lanai make this house. The saltwater pool is basically built in the ocean—it's so close the waves splash up and into the pool sometimes! I can say our toddler daughter learned to swim by herself in the pool, and had SO much fun in there! We had a little trouble with the hot tub the first couple days, but Mark sent someone over as soon as he could and helped us figure it out. It gets nice and hot and feels so nice to sit in while watching the sunsets! You could look out and see little crabs on the rocks. You could see spinner dolphins right out in front of the house almost daily. And at night you could see and feed eels in the waters below the hot tub!

It rained a lot during our stay, which I think is kind of unusual for Kona, but it definitely didn't ruin our trip! We would all be sitting outside at the table under the cover, and it would start raining hard and sometimes we hardly even noticed—the good times continued on. The house was the perfect location to meet up with our relatives—we would all come back in a heartbeat!

True Island Flavor

  • 5 of 5

If you are searching for a truly amazing property on the Big Island, choose this one. This a beautiful ocean front home. The concierge style service the owner provides prior to and during your stay is above and beyond expectations. Peaceful coffee on the master suite lanai in the morning and a beautiful sunset in the evening with time to swim, hot tub and grill in between. Easy walking distance to town makes dining, shopping and sight seeing a breeze even if you decide not to rent a vehicle during your stay. The property manager was also very kind and helpful. With the island breeze, sound of the ocean waves and a comfortable bed, we slept like babies.

We have used VRBO several times in the past and this vacation was by far our most exceptional! 5 stars all the way!

Exceptional House

  • 5 of 5

We had an exceptional stay at Mark's lovely house - we were 5 adults and 5 children and all had a great time. Mark was a fantastic host through the entire booking process to the checking out to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The photos are a real reflection of how beautiful the location is and every day we all enjoyed the pool and views and made good use of the outdoor dining area. Really could not have asked for a better stay or host - so Mahalo!

Amazing location and property

  • 5 of 5

The first picture of the pool and ocean sum up an amazing experience on the Big Island. If you are looking for nature and amenities coming together, this is the property for you. You are so close to the water that the ocean waves splash up into the pool. We spent almost all our non-sleeping time by the pool or on the huge covered lanai when we weren't exploring the island. We fed eels in the water below the hot tub. How cool is that? The house is big with plenty of space and was very well stocked. # bedrooms with kings and one with two singles. One caution, this is a beach house and not the Ritz Carlton. Only 1 of the 4 bedrooms have air conditioning as of this review and Mark is working on updating the kitchen this summer. There are tons of fans, including ceiling fans. Everything worked fine, but just be aware. Plenty of beach chairs and gear to take to a beach too. Mark texted and called me multiple times to make sure everything was going fine. That was very comforting as it was our first time to the island. The Royal Kona luau was 1/2 mile up the road and great. Definitely go to the volcano at night to see the lava glow. That was very cool. I recommend Captain Dan McSweeney for whale watching. He has been doing it for 40 years and really new his stuff. Overall, a great experience for 6 adults and two teenagers. Thanks Mark!

Where do you live?

This home was absolutely everything I was hoping it would be for our first trip to Kona, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook in or outside on the grill. In the morning we could put dinner together in the crock pot and spend the rest of the day enjoying time out on the lanai or in the pool. It's location is so great for sight seeing no matter what direction you might want to go. This home is so much better than being in a condo or hotel, such a relaxing vacation. We hope to return again as soon as possible

Beautiful Oceanfront Home!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd stay at Mark's home in Kona! We love visiting the Big Island, we never run out of new things to explore. Every room has a fantastic ocean view. The lanai, pool and hot tub are amazing, sometimes you don't want to leave the house! Mark has the home fully stocked with anything you could need in the kitchen, a grill, snorkel equipment, boogie boards, pool toys and even new bikes. Last year I requested a coffee grinder because we LOVE fresh Kona coffee and they supplied one immediately. Chris is the contact on the island and is always quickly available for any needs. Mark and Chris are great and treat each guest like family. We look forward to returning each year!
