A traditional architecture, stone constructed house totalling 138 square meters.
It is a two stories house consisting of three spacious bedrooms and WC upstairs and sitting room, kitchen and WC, downstairs and an outside WC.. The “Vilavala” can sleep 6 up to 8 persons.
The house is surrounded by large outside verandas, on different levels, of more than 200 square meters.
It is built on the bank of one of the most marvellous bays of Alonnisos with blue and turquoise clean and crystal clear seawaters.
It is situated amongst pine trees (pinus halepensis), olive threes and cared for original Mediterranean vegetation.
Since the villa is built on a large olive grove where the only other house is some distance away its secluded position secures total privacy to the residents.
The surrounding landscape conveys the feeling of inner tranquillity while the views over the blue waters below extend all the way to the “gates” of the Marine Park (the protected, for the Monk seals, area).

About Yannis Vlaikos
I was born and raised on Alonnisos. At the age of fifteen all the family moved to Athens where I studied Economics at the University of Athens and then I worked as a sales manager. Twenty three years later I returned to Alonnisos where I have been involved in the nature protection of the island and the formation of the Marine Park for the protection of the Monk seals Monachus-monachus and other rare species. Vilavala is built on my family land where I spent a great deal of my summer holidays after school and later after work,. I was keen to construct Vilavala with respect to traditional architecture and the nature protection. The material used is stone and wood and not a single tree was removed from the land and all the natural vegetation flourishes. Vilavala always offers a warm and homely atmosphere...
Yannis Vlaikos purchased this Villa in 2010
Why Yannis Vlaikos chose Alonnisos
As children after the school was finished for summer holidays my two other cousins and I, were coming to Agios Petros (the name of the location) and we spent two months to this lovely place staying with our wonderful grandparents!! We were all the day at the beach swimming and fishing. We learned early to fish and we earned our "livelihood"ourshelves!! Our grandmother was so happy to cook whatever we brought her, (small) fish, crabs, limpets,e.t.c. This family land has a long tradition and history from our ancestors and this is the reason that all cousins here we love and respect this place and take a good care for this !!

A Slice of Paradise
We had a wonderful stay in Vila Vala for two weeks this August, with our two boys age 10 and 8. It was a perfect holiday for all of us. The house has idyllic views of the bay and is nestled in pine trees. It is clean, well equipped, private and has very good wi-fi. There is a large terrace, where we had our meals overlooking the bay, under the shade of the trees. Steni Vala has good restaurants, a cafe, bar and two shops and is a 7 minute walk away along the coast. Its a great place to go for a meal or for just hanging out. The bay below the house is very good for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and paddle-boarding. The house has a small jetty where there is a kayak, so perfect for the boys. Yannis is a wonderful host and couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. His love of the house and island is reflected in the happy feel of the place. We take home such happy memories of our holiday and can’t wait to come back!

A paradise on Earth!
Experiencing the paradise again and again is a wonderful situation. We had a perfect stay at the ever more beautiful retreat of Villa Vala this year for the 8th time in 10 years! Yannis was as always a great host attending everything in his kind and meticulous way!
What is the definition of a 'HOLIDAY'. Vilavala should go into the Oxford Dictionary under 'HOLIDAY' (Epitome Vilavala).
A time, place and period of total change and rejuvenation, rest, pleasure, comfort, reflection, relaxation, peace, enjoyment, diversion and adventure, after which one is restored, full of lovely thoughts, encounters and experiences, fulfilled and ready to return home.
Thanks Caroline. ...always poetical...Looking forward to seeing you next June (2018) for the tenth time...
Agios Petros. Agios Petros is a lovely secluded beach next to Steni Vala with inviting sandy bottom dotted with colonies of Poseidonia sea-weeds. The nearest village is Steni Vala (only 500 m) whereas the Port of Patitiri is 8 km. Originally the valley of Agios Petros was an agricultural area, the domain of two Alonnisos families, who patiently worked the land planting olive trees on the slopes and vines, orange trees and lemon trees in the flatland. The agricultural past of Agios Petros still remains its predominant feature as the villa owners went into great pains not to destroy even a single tree, in some cases they even enriched the existing varieties by planting more. In the valley of Agios Petros there existed two private wells for the needs of the families private or agricultural. A third “public well” was dug up close to the beach for the use of the Sheppards of the surrounding hamlets of Isomata ,Gouves and Steni Vala.
