Alonnisos Villa Rental Photos and Description

2 floors, 3 double bedroom, 2 bathroom inside, 1wc outside , kitchen, livingroom

A traditional architecture, stone constructed house totalling 138 square meters.

It is a two stories house consisting of three spacious bedrooms and WC upstairs and sitting room, kitchen and WC, downstairs and an outside WC.. The “Vilavala” can sleep 6 up to 8 persons.

The house is surrounded by large outside verandas, on different levels, of more than 200 square meters.

It is built on the bank of one of the most marvellous bays of Alonnisos with blue and turquoise clean and crystal clear seawaters.

It is situated amongst pine trees (pinus halepensis), olive threes and cared for original Mediterranean vegetation.

Since the villa is built on a large olive grove where the only other house is some distance away its secluded position secures total privacy to the residents.

The surrounding landscape conveys the feeling of inner tranquillity while the views over the blue waters below extend all the way to the “gates” of the Marine Park (the protected, for the Monk seals, area).

About Yannis Vlaikos

I was born and raised on Alonnisos. At the age of fifteen all the family moved to Athens where I studied Economics at the University of Athens and then I worked as a sales manager.

Twenty three years later I returned to Alonnisos where I have been involved in the nature protection of the island and the formation of the Marine Park for the protection of the Monk seals Monachus-monachus and other rare species.

Vilavala is built on my family land where I spent a great deal of my summer holidays after school and later after work,.

I was keen to construct Vilavala with respect to traditional architecture and the nature protection. The material used is stone and wood and not a single tree was removed from the land and all the natural vegetation flourishes.

Vilavala always offers a warm and homely atmosphere...

Yannis Vlaikos purchased this villa in 2010

Why Yannis Vlaikos chose Thessaly

As children after the school was finished for summer holidays my two other cousins and I, were coming to Agios Petros (the name of the location) and we spent two months to this lovely place staying with our wonderful grandparents!!

We were all the day at the beach swimming and fishing.

We learned early to fish and we earned our "livelihood"ourshelves!!

Our grandmother was so happy to cook whatever we brought her, (small) fish, crabs, limpets,e.t.c.

This family land has a long tradition and history from our ancestors and this is the reason that all cousins here we love and respect this place and take a good care for this !!

A haven of peace and tranquility!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Vilavala for two weeks of August this year, and found a lovely, traditional house nestled amongst the pines, overlooking beautiful, tranquil Agios Petros bay. Yiannis the owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, and made sure that we had all we needed for a comfortable stay, including a whole day trip on his beautiful traditional boat. We spent a peaceful day motoring to Krya Panagia - snorkelled, swam and spotted dophins on the way home. Perfect. Highlights are the wonderful terrace with the incredible view, and the private jetty for lazing and kayaking. Perfect for rockpooling and sundowners at sunset. We will be back!

the ideal holiday

  • 5 of 5

Another wonderful holiday in "our" home in Alonnisos is over. We enjoyed this traditional, yet fully equipped house with stunning views on the turquoise sea where we could walk anytime we wanted to have delightful swims. We gathered again around the welcoming big table in the shady yard, relaxed outdoors reading our books, daydreamed lost in the breathtaking blues and greens of the sea and trees. Fantastic!

See the deep blue sea through the scented pine,

From the island stone to the turquoise bay.

Through the shade in the peace to drink my wine,

This is the only place I would wish to stay.

The clear clean water will welcome me,

A thousand fishes to bathe among.

Across the water distant views I see,

The cooling breezes like a mermaids song.

The early morning sun spreads her silver and gold,

Then the rising moon reflects in pink across the strait.

And another perfect day in Vilavala will unfold,

But for my next longed for stay I will just have to wait.

Absolute paradise!

  • 5 of 5

One week after... and we are still thinking of Vila Vala! What a gem... the place, the accomodation, the hospitality, everything!

Turqoise water, colourful fishes, white sand sea at Ag. Petros bay and at the top... Vila Vala! A well-preserved stone-built house in an absolute green environment!

Mr Yannis, our perfect host, a perfect tourist guide that knows everything about everything: the island of Alonissos, the Sporades' marine park, the history of both Alonissos and the surrounding islands, the restaurants, the beaches etc.etc.etc.

Apart from that, he took us on an amazing day boat trip to the magnificent island of Peristera and the neighboring islands, where we spent a splendid day.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Vila Vala and we will surely come back to have another unique experience at this amazing house and island and of course we recommend it to every kind of traveller, from young couples to families with small children and also for those with teenagers and even elder people that are more difficult to move everyday to a diiferent beach!

Thanks Mr Yannis for everything!

A true gem of a beauti- and peaceful house

  • 5 of 5

This family property is an absolute gem! Yannis is extremely friendly and organized and feels very responsible for his guests and his house that he keeps in perfect shape at all times. He built the house with family members and therefore knows it inside-out. Yannis is the perfect host, tourist guide, history teacher, boy scout etc. and knows everything about everything that you possibly would want to know.

Apart from that, he took us on a truly amazing day boat trip to the magnificent bay of Agios Petros, where we spent a lovely day. We truly enjoyed our stay at Vila Vala to the fullest and we are convinced that we will come back to have another unique experience at this amazing house and island with all its beauty, scents, views and culinary delights (among others: fresh fish bought directly from the fisherman's boat ready to grill)! See it, live it, love it!

Wonderful for both relaxation and fun!

  • 5 of 5

The house if very nicely kept and it really does look better than in the pictures - the colors are more vivid in reality. Plus, it's a pity one can't "catch" the sound of the waves and the smell of pine trees in photographs.

The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen has all necessities; we had enough space in the fridge to keep beer, wine and food for 6 persons (we were 3 couples).

The marble table on the terrace is both romantic and practical. It was also a real joy to have coffee in the morning slumped in the sunbeds on the terrace, admiring the sea through the green vegetation!

The near-by beach (Agios Petros) is half-sandy - a great plus - and can be seen from one of the rooms at Vila Vala. It was great to have such a perfect place to swim, at a "stone's throw". We also had a lot of fun at the Jetty, taking the kayak for trips.

The owner, Yannis, who personally greeted us at the ferry and made sure we settled in comfortably, is just the perfect host! He gave us all the information we needed about the island (as well as info on the ferry schedule and fees, beforehand). He checked on us from time to time to see if we were enjoying ourselves and whether we needed anything.

All in all, Vila Vala is a great place to stay - wonderful for both relaxation and fun!

Just a funny side-note: we found about the beautiful island of Alonnisos from my boyfriend's hairstylist, who had been to Skiathos and Skopellos before, but who was looking forward to spend his next holiday with his family in this third Sporades island, knowing it is the best. I do confirm that Alonissos is wonderful and I recommend a summer holiday spent there, at Vila Vala!

Agios Petros.

Agios Petros is a lovely secluded beach next to Steni Vala with inviting sandy bottom dotted with colonies of Poseidonia sea-weeds. The nearest village is Steni Vala (only 500 m) whereas the Port of Patitiri is 8 km.

Originally the valley of Agios Petros was an agricultural area, the domain of two Alonnisos families, who patiently worked the land planting olive trees on the slopes and vines, orange trees and lemon trees in the flatland. The agricultural past of Agios Petros still remains its predominant feature as the villa owners went into great pains not to destroy even a single tree, in some cases they even enriched the existing varieties by planting more.

In the valley of Agios Petros there existed two private wells for the needs of the families private or agricultural. A third “public well” was dug up close to the beach for the use of the Sheppards of the surrounding hamlets of Isomata ,Gouves and Steni Vala.
