About Kendall and Leina Luelf

My wife Leina and I (Kendall) got married in June of 2009. I previously worked in TN at a nuclear plant that is located about 2 hours from Pigeon Forge. I absolutely loved the area while I worked there and always wanted to go back. We now live in IL and I currently work at a nuclear plant locally, and my wife Leina works for a consulting firm. Last year we visited the area again and decided to look for property while we were there. We purchased our first cabin last year. It is called Closer To Heaven and is located in Wears Valley. We decided to rent it out while we weren't occupying it and quickly found that with my job, last minute vacations are tough to plan and the cabin was usually booked. We looked around for more property so that we could have a couple of choices when we visit and found our other cabin, Eagle's View.

Kendall and Leina Luelf purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Kendall and Leina Luelf chose Tennessee

My wife an I bought our cabin because we just absolutely love the location and the views. Anyone who has ever been to eastern TN knows just how amazing the Smoky Mountains are; and if it is your first time, you will soon see for yourself! Being located in Wears Valley is probably the biggest treat for us. We really enjoy the small town feel while being so close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Wears Valley is full of great farmers markets, antique stores, and restaurants. Everyone there is so friendly and always make us feel welcome, and that really made our cabin the one for us.

What makes this cabin unique

We looked at numerous cabins and none of them had the reading nook like this one does. It is very unique and sets it apart from others.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I cant believe our vacation has already come to an end! WE spent our first night in a different cabin on this road. We went for a walk and saw this cabin. The first thing in the morning we went to the office to see if we could switch. We are SO happy they said yes! What a view! I will never tire of looking at the beauty of the Smokies. M husband and I first came here 10 years ago and I have wanted to share this with my sons every since. We hiked Laurel Falls, Abrahm's Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Grotto Falls. They were amazing! We saw a few bear at Cade's Cove, went Whitewater rafting, tubing in the creek-what a great time we had enjoying Gods gift of natures beauty! School starts in a few weeks...what a wonderful way to end our summer together.

We Picked This Place For the View

  • 5 of 5

We'd read other reviews praising this cabin for the views and they were spot on. On our first night, I sat on the back porch for 3 hours just taking it all in. We liked the cabin so much that we hung out there most of the 2 days we visited. We did get to Cade's Cove which was an easy drive from the cabin and we loved the country roads and shops.

The cabin was clean, had all the amenities that we were looking for, and we slept comfortably in the beds. It's away from the craziness of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so you get that wonderful secluded feeling. I would highly recommend this cabin. Communication with the owner was perfect and we were uninterrupted during our stay.

Stellar Property with an incredible view

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week this summer at the Closer to Heaven cabin in Sevierville, TN. This cabin is located in a serene area on a mountaintop with spectacular views of the picturesque area. This property was exactly what we were looking for. We were wanting to do a vacation in the Smokies, but did not want to stay in the crowded congested areas around Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

The owners went out of their way to provide outstanding customer service. Any question was answered quickly. The booking process was a breeze. The rental rate was very fair with a convenient payment plan. This cabin was very clean. The layout is user friendly and well thought out. Everything was in working order. The kitchen is fully furnished with a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and most importantly a coffee pot. Having a full size washer and dryer was a nice convenience to have. Our kids loved the upstairs loft, which not only has a second bedroom and bath, but a reading nook which provides a great view of mountains. Downstairs has the master bedroom and living room area with full cable.

We loved sitting in the porch swing and the hot tub in the evenings. It is so peaceful, we could have spent our entire vacation at the cabin. However, we went to the Smoky Mountain National Park a few days and hiked Laurel Falls, Cataract Falls, drove through Cades Cove. We saw a Mama Bear and two cubs, a few wild turkey, and deer in the park. We also went to the Aquarium, Wonderworks, Goats on the Roof Coaster, one of the go carts, and Dollywood. We only ate out a couple of times at No Way Jose's (our favorite), Elvira's (excellent breakfast). We would have eaten out more but we preferred to grill on the deck at the cabin. Such an awesome experience.

I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking to vacation in the Smokies. We are looking forward to returning soon and this property will be the first place I check for availability.

Nice, secluded location with beautiful mountain views

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin is located in a secluded location away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Gatlinburg. However, rather than detracting from the experience, the distance made the location far more peaceful and enjoyable. The inside of the cabin is exactly like the pictures, very nice and well maintained. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Secluded but connected. Quaint but comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

We used the website to choose this cabin for our stay in the Pigeon Forge area. It is owned by Kendall and Leina Luelf. It is a short term type cabin rental for vacationers who would rather be away from the hustle bustle traffic of town and out in the Smoky Mountain foothills. The area in which it is located is very populated and it has all of the modern comforts such as landline telephone and cable television and internet.

What makes this area desirable is the fact that while being populated the cabins are not on top of each other. You can see one or two other cabins from the deck but it is unlikely they could see you on the deck. There are plenty of trees to hide neighboring cabins. In fact, the way the driveway drops down from the road almost completely hides the cabin from view. The parking area has room for two vehicles.

There is a front porch swing when you walk onto the porch. The porch wraps around two sides of the cabin providing a covered area next to the front door and an open balcony on the elevated side of the cabin. The open deck area is where the hot tub is located. The hot tub is in great condition and will seat four people comfortably and probably six if you wanted to. We did spend several evenings drinking wine in the hot tub and looking at the distant mountains. There is also a BBQ grill and picnic table on the balcony area so it is great for hanging out and grilling too.

Inside the kitchen is equipped sufficiently for those that want to prepare their own meals. The refrigerator is new and the stove and oven both work quite well. The dishwasher is a bit loud when it is running but it gets the job done. There are plenty of dishes and utensils if a couple wants to go through several meals before washing dishes. I would say there are as many dishes as you would find in an average home that is continuously occupied. The tap water here is well water and it is the best water you will ever drink straight from a faucet.

The dining/living room area contains a nice wood table adjacent to the front entrance with six chairs and then there is a leather sofa in front of the tv and next to the fireplace. The television service and internet is provided by Comcast Xfinity and it worked great. I’m not a big television watcher and the kid kept it on Disney channel the entire time it was watched. I did notice a plentiful supply of firewood outside and everything necessary to have a fire easily in the fireplace, but, since we did visit in t
