About Kendall and Leina Luelf

My wife Leina and I (Kendall) got married in June of 2009. I previously worked in TN at a nuclear plant that is located about 2 hours from Pigeon Forge. I absolutely loved the area while I worked there and always wanted to go back. We now live in IL and I currently work at a nuclear plant locally, and my wife Leina works for a consulting firm. Last year we visited the area again and decided to look for property while we were there. We purchased our first cabin last year. It is called Closer To Heaven and is located in Wears Valley. We decided to rent it out while we weren't occupying it and quickly found that with my job, last minute vacations are tough to plan and the cabin was usually booked. We looked around for more property so that we could have a couple of choices when we visit and found our other cabin, Eagle's View.

Kendall and Leina Luelf purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Kendall and Leina Luelf chose Tennessee

My wife an I bought our cabin because we just absolutely love the location and the views. Anyone who has ever been to eastern TN knows just how amazing the Smoky Mountains are; and if it is your first time, you will soon see for yourself! Being located in Wears Valley is probably the biggest treat for us. We really enjoy the small town feel while being so close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Wears Valley is full of great farmers markets, antique stores, and restaurants. Everyone there is so friendly and always make us feel welcome, and that really made our cabin the one for us.

What makes this cabin unique

We looked at numerous cabins and none of them had the reading nook like this one does. It is very unique and sets it apart from others.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I cant believe our vacation has already come to an end! WE spent our first night in a different cabin on this road. We went for a walk and saw this cabin. The first thing in the morning we went to the office to see if we could switch. We are SO happy they said yes! What a view! I will never tire of looking at the beauty of the Smokies. M husband and I first came here 10 years ago and I have wanted to share this with my sons every since. We hiked Laurel Falls, Abrahm's Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Grotto Falls. They were amazing! We saw a few bear at Cade's Cove, went Whitewater rafting, tubing in the creek-what a great time we had enjoying Gods gift of natures beauty! School starts in a few weeks...what a wonderful way to end our summer together.

Lovely view, solitude, peaceful, comfortable, well furnished, very convenient to get in/out of Smoky

  • 5 of 5

Easy to find, good directions, as advertised! Excellent location for easy in/out to the Smokies. Very close to excellent restaurant (Elvira's) and not very far from Townsend for other restaurants and IGA food market. Beautiful and peaceful views from the deck. Very open with lots of windows so no feeling of claustrophobia inside the cabin. Well kept cabin...also no stairs from car in driveway (very close) to inside the cabin.

Stop looking at the other cabins, This is the ONE.

Overall the cabin is a wonderful place to come and stay the views are breathtaking and it is so quiet all you hear is the crickets on a night and birds during the day, The facilities are rather good also the hot tub is a great sight after hiking in th smokies or riding those rides at Dollywood, I have knocked a star off due to there been a few lights that needed changing in the main bedroom/bathroom & the lack of a kettle (we boiled a pan instead for tea), Would we come back? OMG YES!!!!

Thanks for having us at your wonderful lil cabin.

Owner's Response: Its great to hear you had a great stay in the area and loved the sure sounds like you had a fun filled trip! Regarding the lights and the tea kettle...we ask all guests who find any issues whatsoever or find the cabin is lacking a specialty item they may want to use, to contact us immediately so we can resolve the issue. We strive to provide 5 star stays and had we known of these small issues, they would have been resolved on the same day. We can't wait to have you back for your next stay!

Great Cozy Cabin, A++ View & Location

  • 5 of 5

Love the location close to easy park entrances. Loved sitting on the deck, among the tree tops, enjoying one of the best views of the park at sunset with light dancing across the hills. It was never the same night after night. Yes it takes a little effort to get to the cabin because it is pretty high up, but it is totally worth it to get the view. The hot tub was a life saver restoring us after a day of hiking. The cabin was just the right size for us, very cozy. Owner was very attentive and responsive. The driveway is challenging at first but we figured it out quickly. It was the perfect get away for us.

I'm so glad we went with the property with the view instead of being close to town. Cabin was a little bit of a drive into town but it was a nice relaxing drive. Cabin was perfect! Plenty of room for the five of us. Hot tub was relaxing in the morning and before going to bed. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks for the memories!

Owner's Response: The drive into Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are both about 15 minutes depending on traffic but as you said, it is a peaceful drive and it gets you away from it all. Wears Valley, which is where the cabin is located, is such a hidden gem! Thanks for the wonderful comments and we hope to have you back for your next stay!

We Picked This Place For the View

  • 5 of 5

We'd read other reviews praising this cabin for the views and they were spot on. On our first night, I sat on the back porch for 3 hours just taking it all in. We liked the cabin so much that we hung out there most of the 2 days we visited. We did get to Cade's Cove which was an easy drive from the cabin and we loved the country roads and shops.

The cabin was clean, had all the amenities that we were looking for, and we slept comfortably in the beds. It's away from the craziness of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so you get that wonderful secluded feeling. I would highly recommend this cabin. Communication with the owner was perfect and we were uninterrupted during our stay.
