About Kendall and Leina Luelf

My wife Leina and I (Kendall) got married in June of 2009. I previously worked in TN at a nuclear plant that is located about 2 hours from Pigeon Forge. I absolutely loved the area while I worked there and always wanted to go back. We now live in IL and I currently work at a nuclear plant locally, and my wife Leina works for a consulting firm. Last year we visited the area again and decided to look for property while we were there. We purchased our first cabin last year. It is called Closer To Heaven and is located in Wears Valley. We decided to rent it out while we weren't occupying it and quickly found that with my job, last minute vacations are tough to plan and the cabin was usually booked. We looked around for more property so that we could have a couple of choices when we visit and found our other cabin, Eagle's View.

Kendall and Leina Luelf purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Kendall and Leina Luelf chose Tennessee

My wife an I bought our cabin because we just absolutely love the location and the views. Anyone who has ever been to eastern TN knows just how amazing the Smoky Mountains are; and if it is your first time, you will soon see for yourself! Being located in Wears Valley is probably the biggest treat for us. We really enjoy the small town feel while being so close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Wears Valley is full of great farmers markets, antique stores, and restaurants. Everyone there is so friendly and always make us feel welcome, and that really made our cabin the one for us.

What makes this cabin unique

We looked at numerous cabins and none of them had the reading nook like this one does. It is very unique and sets it apart from others.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I cant believe our vacation has already come to an end! WE spent our first night in a different cabin on this road. We went for a walk and saw this cabin. The first thing in the morning we went to the office to see if we could switch. We are SO happy they said yes! What a view! I will never tire of looking at the beauty of the Smokies. M husband and I first came here 10 years ago and I have wanted to share this with my sons every since. We hiked Laurel Falls, Abrahm's Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Grotto Falls. They were amazing! We saw a few bear at Cade's Cove, went Whitewater rafting, tubing in the creek-what a great time we had enjoying Gods gift of natures beauty! School starts in a few weeks...what a wonderful way to end our summer together.

A breathtaking view, excellent accommodations and easy access to the Smoky's!

  • 5 of 5

My son and I decided to visit the Great Smoky Mountains. We investigated many websites and countless properties. We feel that we lucked out, the accommodations were accurately described and the photos equally beautiful. When we arrived the cabin was in great condition and as we walked out on the deck the view was magnificent! The contrast from the snow still on some of the mountains, the blue sky and the greenery was a photo waiting to be taken. Thank you Kendal and Leina for providing a home away from home.

Sincerely,

Mark

Pretty view

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The view was great, as was the cute little home. There were only a couple of things we'd change, and that would be that the location of the hot tub was not in the same place as the photos. It had clearly recently been moved to the side porch, and it was not in the area with the beautiful view, and was right next to the trashcans and road (no privacy). We ended up never getting in because of this, which was a bummer. We also felt that the cabin needed to be cleaned much better, as well as basic updates (there was only one wine glass in the cabin, no drinking glasses, etc). Otherwise, the place was nice.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the lovely comments on our cabin and also for the great feedback! You are correct, the hot tub was moved due to load bearing issues on the deck where it was previously.. While it does now sit on the front porch of the cabin, privacy shouldn't be much of an issue as the cabin sits well below the road. We've also ordered all new dishes for the cabin! We hold our cleaning crew to the highest standards and we're very sorry that these standards were not met for your stay. The issue has been discussed and remedied so it doesn't happen again. We certainly hope to have you back for another stay! Thanks again!

Just right!

  • 5 of 5

We can't say enough positive things about the Luelf's cabin. You'll need your GPS to locate but after the first search, you'll be good. The cabin is perfectly clean, in good repair and comfortable. The two of us had plenty of room; master downstairs has a very nice king bed; loft upstairs has a queen as well as a futon and full bath. The reading nook overlooking the Smokies was a perfect morning spot. It's approx. 12 min drive to Townsend and (with traffic) about 25 min to Pigeon Forge. You'll also enjoy the hot tub on the front porch and the LARGE tub in master with jets! Great after a full day hiking! Kitchen has all utensils/pots etc. you could need to prepare a meal, along with a coffeemaker, toaster, blender, microwave and dishwasher. We ate about half our meals out and enjoyed dinners at the cabin. The closest grocery (full size) is an IGA in Townsend. There is a smaller market on Wears Valley Road, headed to Townsend.

We also appreciated the Luelf's quick response to emails. They're responsible and caring owners.

Beautiful cabin!! My wife and I love it!! This was our 2nd time staying here. The views are spectacular.Enjoyed all the amenities, hot tub, jacuzzi tub, fireplace, etc., everything worked properly. The owner, Kendall Lueff, is most helpful in making sure your stay is perfect. He responds to emails quickly. The cabin has everything you need to enjoy your stay. We left today and hated it!!we love it up there. My wife and I have stayed at several cabins in the area and this is our favorite.
