Fraser House Rental Photos and Description

4+ BDRMs, 3 full baths, 1 on each level, 3-car garage, huge deck, 3 living rooms

Visiting Winter Park Resort, Nordic trails at DTR or YMCA, Golfing at one of the 3 area courses, or visiting Rocky Mountain National Park? Or just want to get out of the city and away from it all? Then Fraser is the place for you! Contact the Owner directly and ask any questions on this owner-maintained home, so you feel like you're at home when you go on vacation!

Guests #1 comment after stay: "Your home is better in person than the pictures online. We love your home!" --No doubt you have picked the right location for your Colorado Adventure! There’s no place quite like Grand County Colorado!

Make the most of your vacation by staying in this tastefully furnished 3,300 SF Milled Log Home with big views and 3 levels for living and relaxing during your visit. The Talley Ho Ski Haus is nestled in the woods with endless views of the surrounding mountains and unmatched trail access directly from your home for biking and hiking.

The great room / dining room combo boasts vaulted ceilings with tongue & groove architecture throughout, and pine wood beams and floor to ceiling windows--that keep this home comfy/cozy year round. The Ski Haus comfortably sleeps 10-12. I would like to keep the max at 12. Small to medium dogs considered, so please include a description and picture of your family pet with your inquiry. Kenneling your furry friend while you are away is desired!

This was a second home for the past 5 years, and the first time the Ski Haus has ever been a rental property. The lovely family I bought it from built it and lived here year-round with their two young daughters. They put in the commercial grade kids slide from the 1st floor down to the basement! You won’t see that anywhere else I don't suspect. You will be delighted by the amenities, and I think you will want to come back again and again after your visit. At least that’s what all my friends and guests have said. There’s so much to do in Grand County that we hope you’ll check it all out--all 4 seasons.

A little about the Talley Ho Ski Haus: There’s a 3-car garage with plenty of storage for your skis and boards, mountain/road bikes, and you could even park a snowmobile or 4-wheeler since the national forest is just down the road --where outdoor enthusiasts like to venture out. The main level has a large foyer and a large closet to store your gear for the next day (ski racks in garage, please remove boots and shoes in garage). The kitchen, dining and great room are open to one large gathering space for entertaining and family dinners. The large dining table is also expandable, with a pullout extension on each end. There are 2 bedrooms and a large bathroom with double sinks, water closet, and tub/shower combo on the main level. This bathroom has the main linen closet where you will find everything you need during your stay. The master suite takes up the entire 2nd level. As you climb the stairs you will have an open loft with magnificent views before entering the bedroom through French doors. This bedroom, large bath, and walk-in closet may cause you and your guests to draw straws or flip a coin to see who parks their suitcase up there! The master bath has a granite counter top with double sinks, a large soaker tub, shower, and water closet. Heading down the stairs to the basement you will find a family room and laundry room to one side, and a bedroom, kid’s play room with a twin over full bunkbed, and a full bath. This bath has a large pedestal sink, water closet, and tub/shower combo. And there’s one more space I like to call the Adult’s “Getaway” Room. Get away from the kids to read a book, cozy up to the fireplace, or watch the big game! I think you will be happy in this bonus room above the garage, and more big views to boot! Hopefully the photos will be inviting enough to send me an inquiry about your next vacation, as I’m happy to answer any and all questions you may have about Grand County and Winter Park Resort.

Sleeps 12 comfortably:

Master, 2nd floor, King, 5-piece bath, walk-in closet

Bdrm 2, Main floor, Queen, shared 4-piece bath

Bdrm 3, Main floor, Queen, shared bath, kid's slide access

Bdrm 4, Finished Walkout Basement, Queen, shared 3-piece bath

Kids Playroom, Basement, Twin over Full Bunk Bed, shared bath

Family Room, Basement, New Lane Sofa Sleeper w/Full Gel Mattress

If you want to stay in a hotel room, go for it, but if you want to stay in a beautiful home, with your very own well-equipped kitchen to cook great meals for your family, with every convenience you could want, enjoy our priceless views, and have easy access to Winter Park Resort, Colorado Adventure Park, Devil's Thumb Ranch, Grand County's Recreation Center, and all that Grand County has to offer! ...I look forward to hearing from you and helping you secure a great home for your family vacation!

There are many great restaurants in Winter Park, Fraser, and Tabernash.

Here’s a short list of my favorites, but look through the menu guide I've left for you to get a complete list:

- Tabernash Tavern $$$- call for a reservation (970) 726-4430, my personal favorite

- Deno’s $$- great place, delicious, well priced food; family atmosphere

- The Library $- fresh brews, good food

- Azteca $-fresh Mexican food

- Devil’s Thumb Ranch (DTR) $$$ - used to stay there before we bought and I really enjoy Heck’s Tavern and the Ranch House; Heck’s Tavern is much more reasonably priced and has a great happy hour; check-out Nordic skiing or horseback riding while there! And the spa is very nice after a day of skiing! Also Bella Vita Spa in Winter Park

- The Foundry $$ - Great pizza and other treats, plus a Cinema and Bowling!

- Venture into Grand Lake!

About Tamara Higgins

Hello! Thanks for viewing my property today. I retired from the Air Force in 2012, traveled the world, and I finished up my military service in Colorado Springs. I consider myself lucky to live in Colorado and look forward to sharing my home in the mountains with you. I just completed and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design at the Art Institute of Colorado in Denver. I've always had a passion for design and architecture. Plenty of books in the house to make that point pretty clear! I will stay in Colorado and I maintain my home myself so that I can make sure it is in mint condition for every guest.

I know you will love Winter Park and Fraser any time of the year because there is so much to do here, and it can be anyone's playground. Here's a short list of the things I love to do when I'm up in the mountains: ski, snowshoe, hiking, fishing, biking, sightseeing, RMNP, Grand Lake, Winter Park Resort activities, dining, whitewater rafting, boating, kayaking, tubing, working out at the Fraser Rec Center, swimming, rodeo, and taking in the free summer concerts! So much to do, and be sure and stop by the Visitor Center in Winter Park to see what's happening during your stay, there's always something!

Tamara Higgins purchased this house in 2011

Why Tamara Higgins chose Winter Park Area

Winter Park is the best mountain town for skiing and hiking! And it's so easy to get to from Denver, DIA, or other Colorado towns...they call it the locals mountain. When you travel, do you prefer to feel like you're in a time share resort or a quaint little town? If you want that small town feeling with a big ski/board mountain, you'll absolutely love Winter Park and Fraser! If you mountain bike or enjoy hiking then the Spring thru Fall season is a must. This house is located near a great trail system. I'm discovering new trails every time I go for a bike ride. Puts a huge smile on my face, and I feel lucky to have this home in Fraser.

What makes this house unique

We selected this house for it's views, privacy, and excellent floor plan. I've put my own touches on it with the furnishings/decor and I've replaced the carpet and installed new granite countertops in the kitchen and master bath. I think you'll feel right at home! I have a guest book at the house and a 3-ring binder with house info, and room to add comments and 'nice-to-haves' for future visits so I can keep making my home a touch better with each guest!

Marvelous views, Family friendly, Close to wide variety of activites

August 2016 rental: This home was one of the best we have rented in our many years of travel, especially in the Colorado Rockies. The home was close to shopping and attractions, yet had the feel of remoteness. The view cannot be described and sunset and stars were clear and plentiful. We had 5 children, 4 of whom were 7 & 5 years old and they had full run of the basement and slide. Adults were able to have private time and even quiet! The yard was full of awesome wildflowers, that added an extra charm. We cooked a meal every night (very nice Safeway about 3 miles away) and kitchen had everything you could want, even more spices than we could count! Paper goods were plentiful, which was helpful for our large crew of kids! Nearby is the Rocky Mountain National Park, Georgetown Railroad, Winter Park activities, and Fraser's YMCA facilities which provided inexpensive fun for our kids. Spacious house had lots of room and bonus room provided a great place for our young mother to retreat to with baby for bottle feeding and naps. Thanks to the wonderful care of the owner, we never had a worry the entire stay. We hope to return frequently through the years, as this was absolutely the perfect Colorado stay.

Peaceful, Clean and Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

First let me say that we take several trips a year and we always use homeaway/vrbo. We have NEVER stayed in a home that was so well stocked. WE never had to buy toilet paper, paper towels, toiletries or trash bags. This may not seem like a big deal but when you have to go to a grocery store just to pick up those items, it's a bit of a pain. The house was so CLEAN! the furnishings were up to date, bathrooms and kitchen in great condition, all of those items you would need in your own kitchen to prepare a meal (plus a wine opener and aerator).

Tamara was such a pleasure to work with. Never have I had someone send me recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area. She answered our random questions quickly and responded to small issues we had with the sink in a prompt manner. She sent a message to make sure we got home safely and when I told her we had decided to stay in Colorado in another town, she gave us recommendations for that town! She truly wants to know that her renters are happy and what she can do to make their stay better.

The location of the house is great. We were so close to the recreation center where we went everyday to workout, swim or rock climb. The children loved the child care and we even were able to get a Parent's Night Out during our stay. The rodeo is right down the road in the summer and it was such a fun activity for us! There are lots of trails near the house and Lake Granby and Grand Lake are a short drive away, both of which are gorgeous.

We only had 4 people total but there is so much room in the house. The kids watched movies in the basement and the upstairs living room. They loved the slide and hidden rooms. I would find them hiding in the closet, making up stories about dragons and having the best time. If you go in the summer, the wildflowers surrounding the house are GORGEOUS! Seriously, a photographers dream. The sunsets are magical, dinner on the patio with wine every night.

I could keep going about our stay at Talley Ho. We truly loved it and are planning a time where we can come back during the winter for another ski season at Winter Park (a 10 min drive away)

Thank You Tamara!

Owner's Response: Amanda, I don't know what to say after a review like that. I tend to treat people the way they treat me and you (along with most of my renters) are just the nicest of the nice. It is easy to be kind to a kind person. If only everyone understood that. I want my renters to have a good time, to feel relaxed and comfortable in my home as if it was their own. I hope you will come back! It was a pleasure getting to know you a bit via email and texts! Until next time... Best regards, Tamara

Beautiful Log Home

Our entire family stayed a week in Colorado at Talley-Ho for a family wedding. It was so nice for all of us to be together under one roof and have a full kitchen and grill available! We would definitely like to return in the future.

Way more than expected!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 12 stayed @ Talley Ho in Winter Park this July 2016, our son was getting married and all our family members came for the big event. From the minute we walked in the door, I knew this was the right home for us!!! Everything was new and clean and if you forgot some shampoo or cling wrap it was at your fingertips!!! We hosted a Rehersal dinner at a different location in town and I was not sure what to put a dish that we were serving in and looking in kitchen closet I found a crockpot!!! For our event I texted Tamara for permission to cut some wild flowers, and her response was "of course, enjoy!!!" I could go on and on about Tamara but not enough room, very quick for emails and very enjoyable to work with, my family and self will def. stay here again!!! The house alone is so beautiful and accommodating and Tamara matches that!!! Our guest loved the view along with the beautiful décor and homey atmosphere!

Fabulous kid-friendly house in a scenic mountain location.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 adults and four young children had a wonderful stay. The playroom/bedroom with a slide and secret hiding places was a huge hit with the kids. The house is beautiful, has great views, and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We cooked several meals and found nothing lacking in the kitchen. The Fraser area has great fishing, including free stocked ponds for the kids right next door to the Safeway. Just a few minutes to Winter Park and the Resort with lots of summertime activities. We highly recommend a stay at Talley ho Ski Haus!
