Grab lunch at Hyde Park Bar and Grill. Their double battered french fries are some of the best I have ever eaten. Trudys Tex- Mex is an Austin icon and has amazing Mexican martinis, but you can only drink two before they cut you off. Mothers is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in town. All are less than 10 blocks away.
The University of Texas is walking distance as well. Take in a Longhorn football game, tour the UT Tower, or take a stroll through the campus and visit the fountain.
Guadalupe street, or 'the drag' , has lots of fun shopping and great hole in the wall restaurants. Don't miss Paul Qui's super popular East Side King restaurant.
Downtown is just 5-7 minutes away and offers more dining options and nightlife. Mix it up with the college kids on 6th Street and ride the mechanical bull, or for a more upscale experience visit the Warehouse District.
Whatever you decide to do I can assure you that you are staying in one of the best homes in Central Austin. Enjoy!
I grew up in Dallas and moved to Austin in 1994 to attend UT. Immediately I fell in love with this amazing city. I never left. Once finished with college I obtained my real estate license and have been a real estate broker for 15 years now. I have two beautiful daughters and we love spending time on the lake and enjoying all that Austin has to offer!
Michael Said purchased this house in 2003
I lived in this beautiful house for 5 years before I decided to move out to Lake Austin. I could not part with it so I decided to keep it as an investment property. I have always considered moving back into it if and when i decide to move back to town. My favorite features of the house are the oversize master bathroom with the vaulted ceilings, skylights, and jacuzzi tub, the master bedroom with walls of windows overlooking the beautiful courtyard with the two giant oaks, and the outdoor sitting area with the fireplace. We used to relax under the stars with good friends and good wine or have the guys over for poker night and smoke cigars. Lots of great memories and hopefully you will make more too!
The house is very kid friendly and very private. It is fully gated so you can enjoy your time with family and friends without interruption. If you want to get out and explore the area then everything is right outside your door!
This place is legit. It's modern, spacious and only 10-15.00 Uber ride to both Rainey St and 6th. Master bedroom and bath are incredible. It's tricky to find because it's a back house and you have to access through an ally. DLP TV in master I thought they stopped making those in 04
We rented this beautiful house for 4 nights to accommodate our family for our son's wedding weekend. The wedding activities were all near by which I made it very convenient. The house is great! Modern kitchen and bathrooms, great TV's and wonderful out door space. We were very comfortable Michael responded quickly to all of my emails and was accommodating in making everything perfect for such a special family get together! Thank you!
I set up a girl's weekend for 6 of my friends for a fun and relaxing bridal shower/bachelorette party. The house was the perfect fit!! It had plenty of room for all of us, it was nice and open so we could all be in one area together and it had all the luxurious amenities that made our weekend perfect. The outside had a sitting area under the stars that was wonderful after a long night out! The house is located in a great location and it was only a 10 minute cab ride away from 6th street. We had trouble with getting the air conditioning working when we first arrived and Michael (owner) came right over to help us!! Michael was also very helpful in answering all our questions and recommended many restaurants and attractions for us!! I would highly recommend this house!!
We chose Austin to have a post-Christmas family gathering, coming from Seattle, east Texas and Kansas City. We had a delightful stay, and the lodge was as advertised, beautiful, spacious and close to everything. We brought our bikes and enjoyed the many bike paths Austin has. The owner was very helpful, giving many recommendations and providing us with a pack and play for one of the two infants that was with us.
The outdoor space was delightful, as well-we enjoyed it very much. Our two-year old granddaughter wanted us all to live there together-forever-but alas we had to head back home.
We visited the State Capitol, went to the farmers' market, had lunch at the food trailers, and took the kids on the train at Vilker Park. We had family game night at the dining table, well into the wee hours, and made many visits to the fabulous Central Market for meals that we prepared at the house. We needed a few more days to do all that we wanted to do, but our main goal was to have a place to gather as a family-mission accomplished. Thanks for the great gathering space.
We spent about a week here over Christmas with the extended family, and it was exactly what we needed with multiple generations on deck. The kitchen was a great size, though it would have been nice to have more implements for baking and serving, and the bedrooms and living space were wonderful. We especially liked the switch-on fireplace - heats the entire downstairs in about 10 minutes! A really lovely spot for a nice vacation.
We needed a home while ours was being renovated. Our kids aged 8 and 9 really enjoyed having a room with bunk beds. The home was very clean and well maintained. The area was quiet, and the home is located in a popular area of Austin. The owner was extremely helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend this property.
