What makes this Villa unique
Unique benefits of our villa are: - The villa is built on a hill just outside of the village Eleftherna offering 100% privacy and amazing views! - It is just a “stones throw” away from one of the most historical areas in Crete, the archaeological site of Ancient Eleftherna. - According to our previous guests (you can read the reviews), the villa has a perfect layout and is equipped with everything you can imagine! - Fenced and safe garden park for children! - Swimming pool that can be isolated from young children. - You will love to relax under the natural tree shade! - Quiet and away from it all! - Traditional tavern and mini market just a few meters away! - Free bicycles and light hiking equipment. - If you enjoy country walks, my father who is an experienced member of Rethymno’s climbing club would love to guide you or take you with him on organised excursions for free! - Finally you will realise what Cretan hospitality means on meeting my family and locals who live in the village nearby!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Beautiful, spectacular and relaxing Eleftherna
The property is just perfect in all ways...the comfort, views, facilities, garden, pool....
The village was ideal..lovely tavernas and a very useful supermarket all within walking distance.
Above all the care we were given by George and his family was second to none. Thank you!
One of the best holidays ever.
Perfect Villa Eleftherna
What can I say, that has not already been said about the villa and surrounding area?
We stayed for a week, end of May/June 2019 and can honestly say that Villa Eleftherna is truly amazing! The best villa we have ever stayed at.
From the moment I enquired about booking the villa, Kostas and his team at Etouri were so helpful and prompt in providing the information and advice that we needed, even arranging our taxi transfers from the airport for us.
When we arrived at the villa we were warmly greeted by Kostas's brother and also his father George (the owner.) They showed us around the villa, showed us where everything was and how everything worked and even provided a wonderful welcome basket of fruit, homemade wine, bread, and honey.
A day after we had settled in; Eleni from Etouri contacted us just to make sure that everything was ok and to inquire if we needed anything- once again providing exceptional service.
The pool is cleaned every day, new bedding and towels refreshed once during our week stay and a thorough clean of the villa and outside area. George’s wife even provided a very delicious cake for us.
Thank you, George and your family for showing us such kindness and generosity.
All in all, we had a very relaxing stay at Villa Eleftherna and I very highly recommend it, it’s perfect
We were really looking forward to our holiday. From the other reviews I'd read and the pictures of the Villa we were very excited and it really lived up to our expectations in every way.
My wife and I along with our two boys aged 6 & 2 came for 10 nights in May.
Before we arrived I found Kostas and his team at Etouri very helpful and prompt in providing all the info we needed. We were greeted by Kostas's father George who showed us around the villa and really looked after us during our stay. He was incredibly welcoming and gave us some great advice for places to visit. Eleni who works with Kostas contacted us shortly after we arrived to offer assistance in booking outings and suggesting places to visit. We found this really helpful also.
The villa and garden are incredibly beautiful and very well looked after. We really enjoyed relaxing by the pool and made good use of the barbecue and pizza oven. The villa offers lots of privacy while still being close to the small village of Eleftherna. While it's possible to walk to the village, a car is really required. There are plenty of nice beaches within 30 minutes and we found the location quite central to see other parts of the island from.
We had a truly fantastic stay and I thoroughly recommend Villa Eleftherna.
Beautiful Pristine Villa Located in Small Village
My husband and I chose this villa because we wanted to experience life in a small Cretan village. We awoke each morning to a rooster crowing. The property has several outdoor living spaces perfect for relaxing amidst the manicured grounds and enjoying the surrounding views. The owner, George, and his family were warm and so generous. There were fresh flowers, a fruit basket, olive oil, honey, wine and raki on the kitchen table when we arrived. These gifts were all bounty from this industrious family’s labor. George's wife, Manolia, maintains the villa so well, that even after 10 years, it still looks new inside.
We had expressed to George our desire to experience Cretan culture. Midway through the first week George invited us to his friend's 50th birthday at a mountaineering lodge near the summit of the highest mountain in Crete, Silorites. We went and experienced a traditional Cretan feast, folk music and dancing as well as amazing views .
George's son Kostas owns the vacation rental management company, Etouri, which manages the villa. His company provided excellent customer service through the holiday advisors available 24/7 via an internet telephone line. Eleni, the Holiday Advisor assigned to us, is a Greek American and a joy to work with! She provided helpful information like cost of tickets, hours of operation, GPS coordinates and even understanding of Cretan mores when needed.
There are 2 things future guests should be aware of:
1) The plumbing pipes in Greece are narrower than in the US and therefore you cannot throw toilet paper into the toilet. Toilet paper must be placed in a trashcan. This was true everywhere we went in Greece.
2) The internet is prone to go down at random times in Greece. To avoid frustration, it is best to plan ahead. I had gotten into a routine of waiting until the morning of to touch base with Eleni. One morning the internet went down so I put the name of the city in the GPS instead of the coordinates and 3 hours later we completed what should have been a 40 minute journey.
If you can flex and not sweat the small stuff; you will have a great vacation! I cannot say enough good things about this villa, this beautiful family, and the support staff at Etouri. Thank you George, Manolia, Kostas, Yannis and Eleni for assisting in the creation of a beautiful holiday!

Our experience in the villa was amazing, we had a lovely time and really enjoyed our stay! Every one who came into the villa was so welcoming (Gorge and his family) everything was in perfect condition so clean and beautiful not one bad thing about our stay at all! If you are thinking about booking this villa don’t think twice it’s set in a beautiful quite locatin with a few tavernas that are traditional and so welcoming! Great holiday we will be going again!
Amazing Villa in beautiful Crete
We had a wonderful 10 day stay at the villa. George and his family are so welcoming, they met us when we arrived and we were greeted with homemade treats, fruits and wine. The villa is stunning, so spacious with beautiful views. The pool and gardens are so well kept with George coming to clean the pool daily. It was an added bonus to have our linen and towels changed every 3 days. I couldn’t recommend this villa more highly, the management team are always on hand with suggestions on places to go and will book restaurants for you. I would recommend a car as you are half and hours drive from Rethymon old town and the beaches of the north coast. Highly recommend visiting the old town, wonderful restaurants. We also enjoyed the beaches at Bali and Panormos in the North. We went snorkelling at Calypso beach in the south and Damnonj beach is very beautiful too. We took a trip over to Balos beach which I highly recommend, the sea is so warm and beautiful, we caught the boat from Kissamos harbour and visited Chania old town on the way home.
Crete is just the most wonderful island, and the villa made it! Don’t hesitate to book!
Our villa is located in central Crete in Eleftherna village giving you the advantage to combine mountain and sea. You can make a tour of the villages around or visit some of the most well known beaches on the north coast. The village of Eleftherna is well known because of the archaeological site and the newly built museum of Ancient Eleftherna and has about 400 inhabitants today. The archaeological site and the Museum of Ancient Eleftherna are worth a visit for discovering and feeling the ancient history of the area.
The surrounding area is quiet, a place where you can relax and feel “away from it all”. The village has one traditional tavern, a few traditional cafes and a mini market!
Given the location of the village and the landscape, there are numerous attractive hiking and cycling routes. The European path E4 crosses the village and passes through behind the building. The villa provides 4 mountain bicycles and light hiking equipment (batons) for free. Visitors can also easily explore the archaeological site of ancient Eleftherna (which is a stone-throw away) and the new built museum, Arkadi (7 km away), Margarites (6 km) the cave of Melidoni (22 km away), Zoniana (32 km away), Anogia (37 km away).
The owner of the villa, George Vasilakis, is an experienced member of the Climbing Club of Rethymno and he will be glad to help with any relevant information on beautiful scenic routes and paths you can walk, ride on the bikes or drive. If you are lucky enough, your stay may coincide with one of the guided trips the Climbing Club organizes around the island (you can participate after arrangement). For the adventure-seekers, you will be given the necessary information when you arrive!
PLEASE be advised that the villa may appear on a different 'location category' on Homeaway affiliate websites, depending on their categorized locations (each affiliate website has its own 'location categories').
