This beautiful cedar siding home is located just 25 minutes from downtown Asheville North Carolina. Within a 15-20 minute drive you can access the Wolf Ridge ski slopes, golfing (Mount Mitchell or Mountain Air), zip lines, the Blue-Ridge Parkway, gem mining, white-water rafting, horseback riding, and some of the most amazing hiking trails you’ve ever meandered. We hope you will fall in love with this home as much as we have over the years.
My partner and I grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee and fell in love with the area. I am a professor and my partner is an engineer. We have two daughters and feel so blessed to own property in what we both know to be the most beautiful open place we have ever visited. We love Asheville and hope you find as much joy in this house as we have over the years.
Chris Cain purchased this house in 2005
My colleagues and I have tried to work at hotel conference centers before, and had some success, but this location brought a whole other level to our synergy and productivity. The house is nestled in the trees and the quiet atmosphere is a perfect place to relax and re-energize. The layout of the house allowed for several different work spaces when we needed to divide tasks, but also allowed for us to meet in a comfortable common area. We all had our computers connected to Wi-Fi and were able to get so much accomplished! The owner is incredibly easy to work with and responded to our questions quickly. When we looked at the cost of a hotel conference center meeting room plus the cost of our hotel stays, this option was significantly more economical. We were able save money with our food budgets as well. The kitchen is well-equipped for food preparation. I also liked that it's within about a 10 minute drive into Burnsville where there are some lovely little shops and restaurants. The grocery store has a Starbucks! We will definitely be choosing this location again for our future work retreats. I'm even planning on using it as a family vacation spot.
The property was clean and comfortable with ample outdoor areas that provided respite from the hot sun. The views are close tree lines rather than long-range mountain views, but pleasant none-the-less. My wife and I are retired healthcare professionals who have always loved to get away from our hectic lifestyle to Western NC. This trip we spent time at the Burnsville Arts and Crafts Fair and enjoyed some of the best kept secrets in the state, including the Fair itself, the Parkway Playhouse, neighboring Mitchell county, and of course the Asheville area. 47 Beaver Lane is convenient to all. The only negatives we experienced were sparse starter items like coffee, only one trash bag, a front porch wasp nest, and the $400 damage deposit, but for the daily rental price we still rate it a good value and would recommend to others.

The house was easily found by the detailed description. It was cozy and the hot tub is a fabulous addition. Loved it! I will come back!
The house was perfect for a couple's getaway but could fit so many more. It was remote but close enough to whatever you needed. Loved all of the amenities!
We were disappointed compared to the place we had in NE GA last year, the front porch had heavy dust on it like it had not been swept for months, we didn't think it was equipped to good , the internet connection kept going out, other than that we enjoyed it.
There were four of us staying at Whispering Pines, my husband , my Grand daughters Aunt and Uncle and myself. As we walked into the house we were thrilled that Chris had made it feel so warm and friendly. Truly a home away from home.. We knew that we would not be spending a lot of time there, but if we were we would have had everything we needed. The kitchen has almost everything you would want to make a meal. The living room area was comfortable with more than enough seating.. The bedrooms were great and bathrooms were clean and with enough towels unless you were someone who used lots of towels to dry off.. We never used the Hot Tub, because we had so many things to do, as it was our Grand daughters graduation from local High School just up the road in Burnsville, and we would be spending most of our time at my daughters... All I can say is that if you are looking for peace and quite and want to relax then this is a great place to do just that and you are not far from lots to do in the area...
Came up from atlanta to see some snow and it didnt disappoint. House is very welcoming and has all that you really need. Easy 20 minute drive to wolf ridge ski or asheville. Great hot tub, tv, wifi, play areas. Didnt have to buy a thing except for what we cooked. Couple points:
Fridge needs a new water filter, very slow.
I should have asked about dogs in the house. Wife and kiddo are quite allergic to the dog hair on the carpet and couches. Really not bad though.
Overall great house.
