About Chris Cain

My partner and I grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee and fell in love with the area. I am a professor and my partner is an engineer. We have two daughters and feel so blessed to own property in what we both know to be the most beautiful open place we have ever visited. We love Asheville and hope you find as much joy in this house as we have over the years.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My colleagues and I have tried to work at hotel conference centers before, and had some success, but this location brought a whole other level to our synergy and productivity. The house is nestled in the trees and the quiet atmosphere is a perfect place to relax and re-energize. The layout of the house allowed for several different work spaces when we needed to divide tasks, but also allowed for us to meet in a comfortable common area. We all had our computers connected to Wi-Fi and were able to get so much accomplished! The owner is incredibly easy to work with and responded to our questions quickly. When we looked at the cost of a hotel conference center meeting room plus the cost of our hotel stays, this option was significantly more economical. We were able save money with our food budgets as well. The kitchen is well-equipped for food preparation. I also liked that it's within about a 10 minute drive into Burnsville where there are some lovely little shops and restaurants. The grocery store has a Starbucks! We will definitely be choosing this location again for our future work retreats. I'm even planning on using it as a family vacation spot.

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Perfect getaway for us. Wish the weather was a bit more cooperative but if you had to stay in, this home was perfect. Super comfortable and cozy and all the surrounding animals and wild life was awesome.

It was a relaxing country getaway for this city family

  • 5 of 5

The home was lovely and located beautifully amongst the trees with a view an animal farm. Our city kids were in heaven hearing the sounds of the cows and watching the horses galloping. We were able to hike nearby at an amazing trail in the Pisgah Nat’l Forest with waterfalls, then came home to enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub. Sooooo wonderful. The whole vacation was a lovely respite from our too busy lives in the city.

Clean, convenient location, great amenities!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I spent a lovely weekend in this cabin outside Asheville. It was comfortable and very clean! The kitchen is well stocked and the location is excellent to the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as Asheville and other attractions. The hot tub on the back deck was wonderful everyday after our adventures. My friends brought their dog with them and she liked it as well. The yard is a little narrow for her doing her business but we were able to take her for long walks around the neighborhood.

Great location & relaxing getaway

  • 4 of 5

Loved staying here over a long weekend for a great getaway to the mountains. Only about a 30 minute ride to downtown Asheville. Only complaints were the beds were very stiff and left a sore back the whole trip, and there could have been a few more towels furnished. Definitely bring some of your own or some laundry detergent to wash. The hot tub was a great amenitiy and was the highlight of the house. Chris did a great job making sure we had everything we needed to have a great time, including a well stocked kitchen. Would definitely return, especially if the beds were updated.

Awesome mountain vacation home - we may return soon!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I both loved the home. It was very quiet and comfortable. We loved sitting in the hot tub in the evening and enjoying the quiet mountain air and sitting on the front porch and sipping our coffee in the morning. Our dogs loved the place too! They had plenty of room to play.

We went one morning to hike Crabtree Falls - a hiking trail and camping ground that was only 45 min away, and was listed on a top 10 list of Asheville hiking trails. It was awesome!

We also took one evening to drive into downtown Asheville - only 30 minutes away - to enjoy the breweries and to get dinner.

The place was exactly what we were looking for and we loved every minute of our stay. Next time we'll have to stay longer!
