Los Llanos also has the facilities of a modern town with many shops, large supermarkets, restaurants, bars, several Internet Cafes. a large medical center and sports facilities.

Plenty of plus points

  • 4 of 5

Let's get a couple of minus points out the way: With just a 2 ring electric hob and a microwave, self catering in it's true form is limited. Secondly, the mattresses on the 2 single beds aren't great. So the positives: Spacious apartment and clean. Helpful owner and her 'local reps' Ana and Beatrice will be on hand if needed. We stayed in Apartment 105, a first floor flat above the minimarket which has refridgeration units going 24 hours a day that didn't affect our sleep at all, nor did the local bars and restaurants. English is not widely spoken or written, so brush up on your phrase book. The coastal town is clean and friendly. Buses will get you about most of the island, with a taxi thrown in now and then.

In summary, lovely island, lovely town, good apartment, so recommended.

Owner's Response: With reference to the above review yes there is a 2 ring electric hob and microwave which I feel is sufficient for a small apartment. As far as the mattresses are concerned these are going to be replaced with new ones.

Really lovely apartment. Location was absolutely perfect with regards to the beach and restaurants and bars. I loved the shared roof top as had such a lovely views of the ocean.

The apartment was exactly what we needed. It was well equipped with a washing machine and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. I would definitely recommend this place and considering going back again for Easter if they have availability!!

Apt 105 Luz y Mar: Great apartment

  • 5 of 5

Must thank Patricia for the standard of this apartment, it is clean, comfortable and well maintained. We are in our 60s, and like a mixture of selfcatering and eating out. The Luz y Mar was perfect for us.

Puerto de Tazacorte

  • 5 of 5

A perfect place for a quiet holiday.

Booking with Patricia was easy and quick.

We booked a taxi for the transfer from the airport, and the driver was there to meet us. We were met and shown round the apartment, which was clean and just as advertised. Oranges, bananas and a bottle of wine were a nice welcome.

Puerto is lovely, and we used nearly all the restaurants, which were excellent.

Didn't bother with car hire, just used bonocards (get them from the bus station in Los LLanos) on the buses, which gave a maximum price for any journey of Euro 1.60 each. Travelled the whole island, which is beautfull.

Walks are brilliant, but after 200/300 metres expect to climb, sometimes quite steeply.

Weather perfect for the whole fortnight

Will definite go again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review and glad you found everything stated in the advertisement as being accurate. La Palma is a very beautiful island to discover and by staying in Puerto de Tazacorte, which has a village atmosphere and situated by the sea, it is also a nice quiet place to return to at the end of the day - should you have been site-seeing. It is also known for having many beautiful walks and there are many restaurants overlooking the beach.

Happy Customer

  • 4 of 5

Just to tell you we had a really good week in your apartment in Puerto Tazacorte. The weather was excellent - particularly in PT itself - and we were pleasantly surprised how many restaurants there were in such a small town. We had dinner in a different restaurant every night. Other facilties are also very good, with supermarket and pharmacy right downstairs. The apartment was very comfortable and excellent value. We had breakfast on the balcony every morning, usually at 0935 when the sun comes round the mountain. My only suggestions would be that it would be useful to provide a sponge and dishwashing liquid for the kitchen, a little more shelving in the bedroom wardrobe and more hooks for hanging towels etc in the bathroom. The fruit and wine on arrival were a very nice touch. I would recommend your apartment without hesitation to anyone looking for a sunny place close to the beach but with ready access to the rest of the island.

Owner's Response: The apartment is in a wonderful position - by the beach with beautiful views of the whole of Puerto de Tazacorte and the mountains in the background. I agree it is a a very small town and there is everything there for you without the crowds of the more commercial islands. Glad you found the apartment being excellent value. We have already the sponge and dishwashing liquid in place as well as the extra hooks for hanging towels in the bathroom. Extras shelves have also been placed in the bedroom cupboard. Thank you for the excellent review.

Wonderful Week long stay in Puerto de Tazacorte

  • 4 of 5

These apartments are perfectly located right in the centre of Puerto de Tazacorte, with sea views and directly overlooking the central lido area of the town, literally within a minutes walk of the lovely, black sandy beach. The apartment block comprises 3 floors (5 apts per floor) above shops on the ground level. There's a supermarket and Pharmacy directly below the apts, and also a couple of cafe/bars and an ice cream parlour, as well as a gift shop in the street.

The apartment was easy to find (Puerto de Tazacorte is a very small place) with free on street parking close by. We were met upon arrival by Ana, a spanish lady who spoke very little English, (and we very little Spanish!) who showed us around the apt. We stayed in No. 105 which is located on the first floor directly above the supermarket entrance. The apartment was very clean and great value for money. Kitchen facilities and equipment were rather basic (2 ring stove only) so eating in could be a bit restricted (we didn’t bother to cook as there were enough decent, reasonably priced restaurants very near by.)

Although the street below was often busy we had no problems with noise or disturbance at night either from below or from any of the adjoining apartments.

The roof top sun terrace is a great place to sunbathe if you don't fancy the beach - we had it all to ourselves whenever we went up there, it was so peaceful.

Puerto de Tazacorte, for such a tiny place, has around 7 - 8 restaurants which during our stay (Christmas week) were always busy and bustling. We ate at 5 different places during our stay and all were very good. Most concentrate primarily on fish dishes, however meat dishes are available and there's a very good Italian restaurant facing the Harbour entrance called Il Tremonto, which does excellent pizzas - well worth trying.

The supermarket was well stocked so there was no need to travel far afield to do the basic shopping, however if you need a bank / cash machine you’ll need to travel to Tazacorte for the nearest as there’s none in Puerto de T.

La Palma is a stunning island - so very different to the more touristy islands of the Canaries. The scenery is breathtaking, and the walking is fantastic. Puerto de Tazacorte makes a great base for a laid back and relaxed holiday - we loved it and would happily go back time and again.

Owner's Response: Glad the above people enjoyed their stay at the above apartment. Confirming how near the apartment is to the beach - 50 metres away and how quiet the apartment is. Stating how many good restaurants being close by with necessary shops such as supermarket and pharmacy. Also that the apartment is very good value for money. There is going to be a 4-ring stove fitted in 2012. You are also given a telephone number of somebody who speaks english should you have any problems. The apartment has sea-view and the most wonderful view of the mountains.
