We are originally from the Cincinnati Ohio area moving to Florida in 2009. We currently live in Palm Harbor. Florida has always been our vacation spot, now we are always on vacation!!
Steve Crowthers purchased this house in 2013
We were attracted to Gulf Harbors because of the many waterfront homes giving way to the Gulf Of Mexico. The community is very pleasant and clean with a beautiful private beach. We found everything we love about Florida here.
The peaceful back yard on the canal watching the fish and dolphins play.
This was our first time staying in Newport Richey and we could not have picked a better house to rent. The house was very clean, with very, very comfortable furniture. Mary and Steve have thought of everything. I usually end up needing to buy something to cook with but everything I needed was in that kitchen. Lots of spices, soap for the dishwasher, napkins, paper towel, Kleenex etc.
Loved the private beach, it was a short drive from the house and just beautiful. White sand, covered cabanas some with grills, rest rooms, black top parking. I was there by myself one day and felt comfortable being alone while my husband golfed. I even saw a dolphin playing in the gulf. I've been to a lot of beaches and this one is as nice as it gets.
The pool and the lanai were wonderful, we absolutely loved the atmosphere out there especially when the lights around the top of the enclosure were lit, so homey and quiet just watching the canal. I loved the decorations and the feel of Florida in the house, so many homes we have rented are decorated as if they were up North. Mary was nice enough to tell me where she shopped, one place she recommended was Dunedin, close to the house and has many lovely shops and cafes.
Steve and Mary were always very quick to answer any emails I sent with questions, and there were some dumb ones, or to call me back if needed. I stupidly dropped a cap into the washing machine, it's hard to explain, but I didn't hear one bit of frustration in Steve's voice when I told him what I had done he quickly found someone to come and fix it, and never mentioned it again. A truly great landlord.
We were offered more time in the house and would have jumped at it if it weren't for work. I highly recommend Pelican House and would have loved to stay longer.
Had a wonderful month, loved the location, the pool and enclosure was a boon, spent many evenings out there , It is a very safe quiet neighbourhood. The private beach is exactly a four minute drive, it is very clean with parking and Restroom facilities. Loved the theme of the house decoration. Extremely comfortable beds. Sister and husband came to stay for a few days and they also loved it. Having been to Florida 33 times, and rented villas on the last five occasions, I can truly say this was the most enjoyable stay at a rental and hoe to return again one day.
I have just spent a month here. I have been coming to Florida for 33 years and for the last five years have rented vacation homes. This has been far the best, very safe ,clean, and feels more like home than a rental. ~Mary and Steve have thought of everything. The private beach is close by and is very clean. We loved sitting out in the screened enclosure in the evening. A most relaxing holiday, despite the injury my husband sustained during boating. I would not hesitate to recommend this comfortable home to anyone. I will be sorry to leave it.
We were fortunate to find Steve & Mary's property listing on VRBO. We loved the location, the pool and screened enclosure, docks and canal behind the house. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and there is a private beach close by available for residents. The house was very clean, nicely decorated, with new appliances and comfortable furniture. Steve and Mary provided everything we needed, including paper towels, napkins, coffee filters, etc..., so we didn't have to run out to the store the first day we arrived. We had friends from the area over a few times, and they were all impressed with this property, as well. We've rented several properties from VRBO over the past few years, and this one was by far the best maintained and furnished. Steve and Mary are easy to contact if any questions come up. We would definitely stay here again!
We just returned to New York after spending the month of October at Steve & Mary's wonderful house in New Port Richey. Perfect for us seniors to relax & enjoy the beautiful October weather. We had a family wedding & reunion during our stay. Our kids & grandkids flew down from NY for a long weekend & stayed with the wedding party in Tampa. Our son, Mike from Puerto Rico stayed with us. We even got to celebrate our oldest grandson's 16th birthday with a dinner for 13 at Catches & an ice cream cake at the house. Priceless....
We ate all our meals out by the pool watching the boats go out fishing. So many places to sit, sun & shade. Mary & Steve have furnished the house with all the things needed to make our stay perfect. They are a special couple who take great pride in their New Port Richey rental. We are grateful to them & thankful that we saw their listing on VIRBO
& hope to get a chance to stay there again in the future.. Jill & Anthony Valentino
