The beach house is a unique property on st. Thomas. If privacy is what you're looking for the beach house is the place for you. This magnificent property is located 40 feet above sea level, on three acres with 700 feet of shoreline where a wooden stairway leads you to a small, completely secluded beach.
When calm the snorkeling and diving is some of the most pristine on the island. When the seas are rough you can enjoy a dip in the hot tub or bask in the warmth on the huge deck while you watch and enjoy the surf. Perfect oceanfront living!
The beach house is the perfect place to have your wedding, write a book, paint a seascape, or simply relax and enjoy an incredible, fun family vacation.
The beach house consists of a main house with two bedrooms and a quaint three bedroom detached cottage.
Proximity to fun things to do: to visit beautiful magen's bay is a 20 minute drive
To reach the east end of st. Thomas and the ferry boats to st. John it is about 30-35 minute drive.
Downtown shopping is only 15-20 minutes.
Weddings, parties, or large gatherings: the beach house will accommodate up to 50 people. All tables, flatware, china, dishes, and glassware for the event must be rented or provided by your caterer. We must have details of all plans well in advance of the event, including wedding personnel and/or catering persons who will be at the villa for your function. Guests will be held completely responsible for any damages, missing items, and will be charged if their caterer/chef does not complete a full clean-up of the property inside and outside, including removing all trash from the villa property.
Cancellations: if you cancel more than 45 days prior to your arrival date, 80% of your total deposit and advanced payment will be refunded to you and 20% will be retained as liquidation damages. If you cancel within 45 days of the arrival date, you will forfeit the full advance payment and damage/reservation deposit. Early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. If we are able to rebook the villa to another guest 80% of your rental monies will be returned to you for the nights booked.
Annette and I honeymooned in St.Thomas in 2007 and found the Beach House in 2008. We have spent every anniversary since at the house, and were fortunate enough to be able to purchase the house from the past owner of over 35 years. The Beach House is truly a special place.
This home is one of very few on St. Thomas with it's own private, secluded beach. When we stay at the home ourselves, it's like we're stealing away on a short vacation ourselves.
My family and I (group of 7 adults and 3 children) had an amazing time at this unique home. I will say the drive to this home and the driveway were challenging and absolutely require a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The treacherous drive is well worth it though! The home is equipped with a myriad of spices, kayaks, snorkel gear, and very comfortable outdoor furniture. We love the private beach! The photos don't do it justice. The sand is soft and it is much larger than the pictures convey. The snorkeling right off shore was amazing. We saw a sting ray, lots of colorful fish, and reef squid. The property is very secluded and the perfect place to relax. The deck is perfect for outside dining and enjoying the beautiful view. There are plenty of good quality beach towels. The hot tub and barbecue grill were great. I can recommend this property without hesitation.
From beginning to end, our vacation to St.Thomas was amazing and had everthing to do the Beach House and all it had to offer. The drive around the island was rough, but we enjoyed it. This is not a property or a week's vacation of getting catered to, but that's what we loved. The outdoor dining is amazing and the only time we spent inside was to cook the meals and to sleep. Staying at a property like this gives you the opportunity to get out and explore the island on your time. With that said, the beach offers so many opportunities to stay put. They have plenty of snorkeling gear and boogie boards. The first day of our stay was the only calm water day and WOW, the snorkeling is amazing at right at the beach! We saw gorgeous purple sea fans, a sting ray, a very big porcupine fish, and a midnight parrot fish, and numerous other fish. There is an area of coral caves that has lots of hiding spots for some incredible fish and our only disappointment for the week, was that it was too rough to see them again. We plan to return to this property as soon as we can and we thank the owners and Camille for a wonderful experience!
Our family of six adults spent a week at this property and absolutely loved it. Back home now, we so miss the incredible views, waking up every morning, looking out from the bed or walking on the deck, and seeing the glorious colors of the ocean and the sky. The stars at night are amazing too! We had plenty of room to spread out and the kitchen was stocked with most things anyone would need, even oils and spices etc. We brought lots of food from home, just froze the meats etc and put it in a suitcase as groceries on the island are at least twice the price and not the best quality so we were glad we did this, so we were able to cook a number of meals at home. Our meals on the back porch at the very comfortable table and chairs were very special. It is so relaxing to be right on the ocean and hearing the sounds all day and night. It is a nice walk down the stairs to the private beach, where we could use the kayaks, noodles, and snorkel gear. The drive down the driveway to the house takes about 10 minutes and is challenging but it added to the ambiance and we really got used to it. Every morning we would hike up (the young adults would run!) and walk down this road and that was some great exercise! We basically lived on the back deck, which is huge and has the most comfortable seating areas, in and out of the sun. The hot tub was a nice addition too! There were plenty of towels for beach use as well! All comforts one needs. Wifi and cable TV work really well. So if you are looking for a quiet place to build memories with your group, this is the place! Very special spot! There is a great restaurant right around the corner, Thirteen, that we loved, as well as the Northside Bistro, which had great music and desserts, and Hull Bay Hideaway, a very casual spot with nice drinks and food! We love this side of the island.
Amazing house! I enjoyed my stay and my wedding was perfect! I'm originally from St . Thomas so I knew my way back and forth but the beach house made me feel like I was on my own little private island ( I guess that's because I love the fact that we had a private beach ) Camille was amazing and ALWAYS attentive! Mr. Steve I would like to thank you again !!!! My husband and I plan to return every year to celebrate our anniversary.
The Beach House at Mail Bay is outstanding, unique, memorable and one-of-a-kind. The view from the large deck is incredible. We enjoyed a double rainbow arching over the neighboring island on our first evening and fabulous stars in the evenings. On days with calmer seas, the snorkeling right below the house in Mail Bay is terrific: just you and the coral reef. Mail Bay, literally at the bottom of the steps from the house, is beautiful, with nice sand and a wonderful hammock and swing chair. We stayed for 2 weeks over the New Years holiday and never saw another human on the beach. The resident iguana and other wildlife made appearances at both the beach and on a tree near the deck. The Villa Manager, Camille, is knowledgeable, responsive, fun and a real asset to a great vacation. The house and cottage are as represented, fully stocked with all amenities, from innumerable quality beach towels to a kitchen with plenty of cookware and dishes, spices and condiments. The one lane road to the house is challenging, with significant ruts and numerous switch-backs, but it is manageable with a four wheel drive vehicle. We felt that the drive down to the house added to the ambiance and island authenticity of the property, but it probably isn't for everyone. We highly recommend the house, the villa manager and the owners, who are responsible and generous with their beautiful home, which is truly a home, not a "rental." We had a fabulous family vacation at the Beach House and would stay there again.
We spent 10 days here over thanksgiving with 5 adults and 2 children and could not have had a better time. The house was well maintained with lots of extras not found at other rentals. Camille met us at the airport and took us to a grocery store that had all we needed, she truley is an asset to the property. Having your own private beach with great snorkeling is awesome. The house is well equipped with appliances and cookware. Anything you could need at the beach is already there.Getting to the house is one of the best parts of being there.
There are very few rentals on St. Thomas with their own beach and privacy. The Beach House is one of these. Part of the joy of the house is its privacy. We are one mile down a windy road that is part of the adventure of being there. While we are part of the Caret Bay neighborhood the house is nestled in the corner of its three acre property and you can neither see nor feel the presence of any of our neighbors.
