This is a very charming, beautifully furnished, immaculate and sunny two-story home with an upstairs Rental Flat and the owner's Flat downstairs. The home is located on a dead end street at a lagoon, so there is a peaceful water view from upstairs. It is in a very quiet neighborhood. Parking in the driveway is free for one (1) automobile which is a necessity in this area as street parking is minimal, especially late evening. Flat is 1200 sq. and quite spacious. There are two large bedrooms both with pillow top Queen mattresses. Can accommodate 4-5 with 3 day minimum stay. I also welcome long term Corporate rentals. One bedroom rented as a single or two guests in one bedroom at the standard rate of $189.00. per night and $199 on Friday and Saturday nights. Holidays will have an increased daily rental fee. It has a gas stove and microwave and a gorgeous view of a huge, whimsically landscaped backyard and a small peek of the lagoon. Beautiful, original hardwood floors throughout. Plenty of closet space. There is a separate water closet next to bathroom with new toilet. Gorgeous diamond pane windows with wood blinds throughout. What makes this Flat so desirable is the privacy you can have, if there is more than one guest. Everyone can have a place of privacy to read, take a nap, watch their own TV, have a private telephone conversation, etc. Also, you can access Netflix for movies in the Living Room TV, and a DVD on the side of the TV in Living Room . A walk to the beach in the morning or evening to view the skyline of San Francisco and the evenings' gorgeous sunsets makes this island unusual. Two ferry locations to take you across the Bay to the Embarcadero in San Francisco. Bus nearby to take you straight to Bart. Also a new multiplex movie theater. Fun to take a stroll on Park Street with consignment stores, antiques, lots of small unique stores, Thrift Store shopping. Oakland Museum nearby with great exhibits. Free the first Sunday of the month. We also have a new library that is truly an asset to Alameda. In Jack London Square there is a Farmer's Market on the weekends, also a Premier Jazz Club Yoshi's, is located in Jack London Square and many others close by venues for live music and dance lounges. I am sole owner of the property. I've raised three grown sons in this beautiful home, I have worked in the business world, in the aeronautics industry, legal, as a court reporter and paralegal on environmental law suits, in a hospital setting, in Commercial Real Estate for 10 years,, and finally found my passion in the hospitality industry as an Outside Food Sales Person ,supplying restaurants, as Director of Special Events at Gramma's Bed & Breakfast just down the street from UC Berkeley campus, a wedding planner, wedding consultant, event planner, meeting planner, fund raiser for Marines returning from Iraq. At Preservation Park, an event site in downtown Oakland, I was booking 100+ events and meetings a month. ;Also set up an entirely empty new event site for the City of Oakland along the Estuary for special events and meetings.
Also hosting events in my backyard and catering them. Now I have the privilege of hosting guests from all over the world.
Maria Angle purchased this apartment in 1976
I have kept this large property in excellent condition considering its age. It has a gorgeous double lot and is beautifully landscaped. I have done many special events here and catered, including several small weddings over the past 18 years. As people enter through the front door, their exclamations are amazement over its uniqueness of interior design and its feeling of Cape Cod or French influences. It's sunny and bright with beautiful sunsets in the evenings. A lovely house to live in and be a guest in, also it is very quiet on this dead end street. Privacy if there is more than one guest.
The benefits of staying here are free parking for one car in driveway. The parking in this neighborhood after 6 PM is not easy to find so having free parking in my driveway is a real plus! Laundry facility downstairs at $5.00 per load due to the drought. Detergent is provided. The best of all is that you are able to walk or bicycle to the beach, shopping on Park Street, with many unique stores to venture into. A mall shopping area at South Shore with a Safeway and Trader Joe's, Walgreens, Redbox there to rent movies, Kohls, TJ Maxx, Ross, across the street from the SF Bay, close to the Oakland Airport, and the best weather in the East Bay area. Close proximity to entertainment venues, a large stadium for professional sports and entertainment. Easy access to transportation to San Francisco by Ferry, Bart ot bus. The backyard offers comfort relaxing and reading a book, grilling, dining al fresco. The beauty of the interior offers golden sun in the evenings and a romantic environment with a warmth of a home on the beach.
I've rented this apartment twice, finding it the first time through Craiglist. I am glad Maria decided to list it here because it really is a wonderful find. The home is decorated beautifully and it's on a cozy, quiet street. Alameda is such a walkable city and the apartment is close to Park Street, the beach, several local parks and a mall where you can find shops, restaurants and a grocery store. I was in town for the birth of my niece and several family members came to hang out with me. The apartment is set up with every amenity you could think of, it's incredibly clean and well cared for. Maria is attentive, engaging, thoughtful and a true hostess. Looking forward to staying in Alameda on my next trip. I just cannot recommend this vacation rental enough. The lagoon views are wonderful for reading, writing or just daydreaming. Enjoy!
This was without a doubt one of the best vacation apartments I've ever rented! It was breathtaking. Maria is a gracious host and was very helpful in providing tips and suggestions about the island. Alameda is a great part of the Bay Area, and this location is ideal. The neighborhood is clean, safe and quiet. You're walking distance to some great restaurants, beaches and shops, plus there is a short drive to the ferry if you want to go across the bay to San Francisco. You are also close to Oakland which was a surprisingly nice place to visit. The off street car parking for 1 vehicle is great. The flat itself is spacious and exceedingly clean. The apartment features bedrooms that are large and the beds themselves were comfortable with nice linens. The kitchen was small but nicely equipped and really came in handy a few times. I would recommend this elegant flat without hesitation to anyone planning a trip to the Bay Area. I will try to book this apartment the next time I visit northern California. Thanks Maria for a wonderful stay in your beautiful apartment!
This property was the perfect location to for my family to homebase while exploring Alameda. Conveniently located near the shops of Park St. and not far from big box shopping, and only a short drive to many of the nice attractions of the area like the beach. Maria was a wonderful host and made sure our stay was very comfortable -- her flat feels like a bed and breakfast and is fully equipped with everything you could think of!
Our stay was 5 days and the unit was perfect for us as a couple. We appreciated the higher quality of the fixtures and appliances. The interior design was also better than typical. The unit was not overloaded with stuff. Rooms were lovely and sophisticated.
The availability of parking was an importantl plus.
I spent 3 nights at the flat and enjoyed its spaciousness and comfort. All the furniture, kitchen appliances, TVs, and radio were as you would want in your own home, well maintained and immaculate. Sleeping was extremely comfortable in the large white bedroom. The bathroom was huge and had a separate toilet room, which is helpful for larger families. The furnishings were artistic and uncluttered. Maria met me at the door and was very gracious. I recommend this VRBO highly, especially for a family stay where eating at home is desired.
I enjoyed my daily walks along the beach and bird sanctuary. The shopping center was very close, but that did not detract from the quiet of the location.
This is the second floor of a historic, beautiful and well-equipped duplex in Alameda. The back yard is beautiful. Free parking. Right near the lagoon, walkable to Park street restaurants and bars, and walkable to a mall and grocery store. Easy access to San Francisco and Oakland. Maria was a great hostess, and met us to make sure we settled in. Highly recommend! Can't wait to return!
An island is a special place to live in, especially here in Alameda. I live within walking distance of every type of activity there is on the island, so it makes it possible not to have an automobile because of its public transportation choices. You never get enough of sight seeing the beautiful historic homes here in Alameda, and the various neighborhoods. It has an invigorating climate, manicured parks, homes graced by shade tree-lined streets covering the island's 12 square miles. This is a city where many people walk and bicycle around the city. Several tennis courts, paddle board lessons on the beach with wind surfing, kite surfing, kite flying, sand castle contests. There is also the Alterena Playhouse that features an opportunity for residents to act in a small intimate playhouse. A beautifully restored art deco, multi-plex theater. The population is approximately 75,000 residents. The views are breathtaking, especially from the beach. It's an island that is full of activity with many choices of what to do either here are near here, since it has numerous transportation possibilities.
