This home has an open floor plan, lots of light and hardwood floors. The house is clean, modern, and comfortable.

The master has its own bathroom, a queen bed and large windows that look out into the woods and gardens.

The upstairs has two bedrooms. One has a queen and a daybed that opens to make two twins. The other bedroom has a queen and a double futon. The upstairs has a full bath with a tub/shower that is shared between the two bedrooms.

The living room is open to the kitchen and dining area and has a sectional couch and comfortable chairs.

The kitchen is brand new, modern and has all the basics you should need to cook and enjoy meals while staying here.

The dining area has a long table (center leaf can be removed if you want it smaller) and seats 8 comfortably but is capable of seating 10. We provide folding chairs to add to the seating capacity.

The covered porch is quite literally another room! It runs the length of the house and is 10 feet deep. There are rockers, adirondacks and a table that seats 6 comfortably and 8 if you squeeze.

Outside we have a patio area with a beautiful copper fire bowl and boulders for sitting around the fire. A short distance from the house is a picnic area that provides spectacular long range views. You will not want to miss this! We also have a loop trail that is about 1/3 mile long, plus some gravel roads for walking. If you are interested, give us a call when you are here and we will try to schedule a time for you to come see our chickens, ducks and goats.

About Steve and Louise

We bought this farm in 2010 and just finished building the vacation rental September 2013. We are so excited because having a farm with a vacation rental has long been a dream of ours! We have a small herd of French Alpine dairy goats and plenty of chickens at our home on the other side of the property.

Why Steve and Louise chose Asheville Area

I moved to the area 20 years ago to attend college at Warren Wilson College. I had to leave for 5 years to attend a doctoral program in Seattle, and though Seattle was a wonderful place, we couldn't wait to get our family back to the area. We have now been back since 2002 and watched this amazing town burgeon into a fun and popular tourist destination. This property is one of the few of its kind: a large parcel of land within 1 mile of Asheville city limits and only 10 minutes to the center of downtown.

What makes this house unique

This property is unique because you have access to beautiful spaces indoors and out. You also have access to woods and meadows, trees and views. It just depends where you decide to spend your time while you are here.

This house is also unique because it is situated on a farm, yet it so close to downtown Asheville and Biltmore Village. There are very few properties that can boast this fact. Most larger tracts are much further away or on steep land. This land is rolling and great for exploring.

Also, our land virtually backs up onto the Blue Ridge Parkway land, just look at the map. The entrance to the Parkway is only about 2 miles away and is the entrance where the Folk Art Center is. This is a great place to visit while you are here.

There are hiking trails both on the Parkway and at Warren Wilson College, which is only a few short miles away. We also have some short trails here on the property.

Simply perfect

I don't have one bad thing to say about this home, the property owners or VRBO. The house is lovely. We are a family of 5 (kids 13,11 and 4) and the size was perfect for us. Everything was immaculately clean and welcoming. Decent wifi so my husband could still work in his office, aka the porch. For active families the location was amazing. You still feel like you are away from it all but it's 10 minutes to downtown Asheville, 30 minutes to Navitat zip lining, 20 min to Catawba falls, 15 minutes to the Biltmore Estate, and 40 minutes to Chimney Rock. We saw all kinds of wildlife at the house. The kids didn't even want to look at phones and TV while we were there!

The owners of the home are wonderful. Very helpful and accessible. They were quick to help when my son locked a bathroom door and when we got a flat tire.

Last, great experience with VRBO. Definitely will use it again!

Wonderful home with great views

We shared a home with 3 adult couples and one young grandchild. Great house with all you need to cook and wash and even child gates and a high chair. New and tasteful decorating, very clean. Communication with the owners was top notch, any questions were answered helpfully and promptly . The view from the covered porch with 5 rocking chairs was really beautiful. Faces the mountains, with no traffic noise, only very local, very decent access with no horrible steep roads or drives which I avoid now, We travel every year to Asheville and my husband said this had his favorite view, high praise indeed. Nice place to walk outside for 2 year old to see nature, wild turkeys and a bunny rabbit. We heard you can see bears but we never did which we were happy about! Great washing machine and dryer a must with a young child. Good linens and towels and lots of dishes and cooking things in kitchen. Nice large refrigerator. We would rent here again, very good experience. Thank you Steve and Louise for a great house and our happy memories here!

Lovely Getaway Retreat

Wonderful spot

This is an extraordinary place to stay in the hills outside Asheville. The restaurants and cultural attractions of downtown are just 10-15 minutes away, and you can reach some exceptional mountain hikes and views in less than an hour.

The house has all the appointments you could wish for. The farm fresh eggs on arrival were a real bonus!

Highly recommend it.

This property is located within 10 minutes of the HEART of downtown Asheville, yet is on the edge of a 40 acre property and a few short minutes from the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The setting is rural, but not remote. The house itself is in a cleared wooded area and gets a lot of light.

We are within a couple miles of restaurants, a drugstore and a large supermarket. We are also close to many trails for hiking including the Mountains to Sea Trail.
