I came to the desert just to see the wildflowers, stumbled across a property for sale with gorgeous views, and fell in love with Joshua Tree. I'm still in love, with my views, and with the wonderful critters, the starry night skies, the bike rides and hikes in the Park, the incredible sunsets and moonrise, the Mojave Desert Land Trust, the smell when it rains, and with this whole amazing community here. And all the wonderful desert detritus lying around has influenced my photography in a fun, eclectic, and recyclable way… I look forward to meeting you when you visit (if I can) and sharing my love of Joshua Tree.
My husband and I were looking to get away from our usual, busy lifestyle, so Joshua Tree it was! I found Vera's house online and the minute I saw the house and the pictures, I was captured! As soon as you walk in, you can feel the homey feeling within the house. The peacefulness, the weather, and the views all made it even more better! We immediately made ourselves at home (it was soooo easy) and made it the back porch where we sat and soaked it all in (and eventually BBQ'd). All the small touches that Vera left were delightful, from the gourmet muffins and local coffee to the scrap book with visitor's notes and her amazing artwork hung on the walls throughout the house. At night, we sat outside and enjoyed the clear skies and the bright stars while my husband played his guitar. During the day, we explored the nearby trails. Oh, and her house is doggy-friendly so we took our little Ginger with us and I could tell she enjoyed it as much as we did! I will definitely stay here again and I highly recommend her home to everyone, from a couple who is looking for a nice retreat to a family who is looking for a great reunion place!

Well appointed, spacious, very clean/neat. Private enough to enjoy the dramatic desert serenity. Vera was a kind and enthusiastic host!
Great for kids and close to the best sights in the NP
The property is well msintained with good sized rooms and comfortable beds. It's the little extras that make the stay from the muffins and coffee to the maps and guide books to make the most of your stay. Highly recommend staying here if your going to Joshua Tree.
I stayed there most of the winter, and it was like a retreat. The property is everything it says and more. Not only is it near the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, it is actually in the area called Wonderland of Rocks, world famous among photographers and climbers. The most beautiful part of the park is nearby. The neighborhood is rural and quiet. The night sky is brilliant with stars. Any necessary amenities were only 10-15 minutes away. The house was clean and well maintained. It felt like a comfortable home. Vera responded immediately to any communications, and was an absolute delight. Her art graces the walls of the house, contributing to the desert experience. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone.
We stumbled upon Monument Manor on VRBO, for a quick weekend get-away. Our lucky day! I contacted Vera, the owner, and within a very short time to let us know it was available! Vera and I spoke briefly before our weekend, and she gave us so many ideas of things to do out in the desert. We made a couple of special requests, and she was more than generous in granting. We drove up to the house, and was so pleased that it was right next to a huge hill of gorgeous boulders. We were greeted by a jack rabbit and a family of quail! We opened the door to a home that had been pre-cooled on a blazing hot day, so nice! And if all this wasn't enough, she had the best of the best of the local delectables-Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee, and home made chocolate-coconut muffins from The Natural Sisters! We have never been greeted with such a gracious welcome. It set us in the vacation mood instantly. We brought the critters-a big black Lab and our little Pitty...both were more than thrilled with the vast outdoor space and hikes. Thank you Vera for being such a lovely host. We cannot wait to come back and bring the teenager :) We will definitely be back...SOON!!
