This quaint cottage is located between Brenham and College Station in historic Washington, less than 2 miles from the Washington on the Brazos State Park. Surrounded by great shopping, country roads to explore and historical attractions!
The property is owned and operated by Dean and Nancy Heard who lived and worked in the Houston area for years before permanently relocating to a slower pace of life in Washington Texas.
The property has been in Nancy's family for over 100 years. The farmhouse was her Great Grandmother's House but was restored by the couple and was their weekend getaway from life in the city. They now want to share that getaway with others wanting an escape from the city.
The property is not only centrally located between Houston and Austin but centrally located between College Station and Brenham, simply a great location!
Mornings and evening are the best! Listening to the birds, cows, horses and roosters, watching the deer and feeling the breeze. Enjoying the beautiful sunsets and wonderful sunrises! Laying on the hammock at night watching the stars!
We needed a break from city life and brought the entire family (2 kids and dog) to this LOVELY cottage. There is plenty of open space surrounding the house with cows and horses in the surrounding fields. The kids had fun giving treats to the horses, playing a ring toss game and flying a kite. We enjoyed grilling out (charcoal grill) and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. The house is a convenient 2 miles from Washington on the Brazos. We rode our bikes over for a picnic and toured the museum and historic farm. The house has 3 nicely decorated bedrooms, fully furnished kitchen, TV / DVD player with video library as well as a wide selection of board games. It was a perfect, relaxing weekend, just wish it had been longer. We would love to return to this property. To top it off, we were welcomed by a batch of freshly baked brownies and a bottle of wine. Highly recommend!
Home was clean and well supplied...a nice welcome note, brownies and a bottle of wine were left for us.
I'd visit again...
Thanks so much
We enjoyed the cozy home, so relaxing and comfortable. Kids really enjoyed the horses nearby and neighborhood dogs that would pop over for a visit.
I can't say enough to truly tell you what a great place this is. Three roomy bedrooms with comfy mattresses plus a daybed in the roomy living room. Large dining room and a breakfast nook to eat and lookout over across pastures. Horses and goldfish to feed. Awesome country decor throughout this amazing 1930's farmhouse! Fresh baked brownies and wine waiting on us! We were there during the winter and it was amazing, so I can't even imagine how beautiful it is during the spring and summer!! We have stayed at many VRBOs across several states but this has been my favorite. It's about a 30 minute drive to A&M but it is WELL WORTH the drive! I absolutely felt at home and the owners are AMAZING! I did not want to leave so you better believe we will be back!!! Thank you Nancy!!!
Photos of guest home do not do it justice. The house is well maintained with plenty of room to spread out. Amenities as described. Lots of entertainment on the property - outside with horses, dogs, windmill, fish tank, etc. and inside with board games, dvds, large TV, etc. Excellent location for many activities in the area.
Awesome house for a nice relaxing get away with very nice and comfortable accommodations! Our second time to stay here and wont be the last. We look forward to it!
