This quaint cottage is located between Brenham and College Station in historic Washington, less than 2 miles from the Washington on the Brazos State Park. Surrounded by great shopping, country roads to explore and historical attractions!
The property is owned and operated by Dean and Nancy Heard who lived and worked in the Houston area for years before permanently relocating to a slower pace of life in Washington Texas.
The property has been in Nancy's family for over 100 years. The farmhouse was her Great Grandmother's House but was restored by the couple and was their weekend getaway from life in the city. They now want to share that getaway with others wanting an escape from the city.
The property is not only centrally located between Houston and Austin but centrally located between College Station and Brenham, simply a great location!
Mornings and evening are the best! Listening to the birds, cows, horses and roosters, watching the deer and feeling the breeze. Enjoying the beautiful sunsets and wonderful sunrises! Laying on the hammock at night watching the stars!
Beautiful farmhouse with all of the charm and character of 1935 but all of the modern amenities of 2016. Super sweet owners made us feel extraordinarily welcome with many personal touches. Super comfortable beds and linens. Fast WiFi, cool A/C. Friendly horses. Shiplap, beadboard, and distressed furniture made it feel quaint (even though it's a good sized 1800sqft). Comfortable, quiet, relaxing, kid-friendly. I can't say enough good things about this place.
This was the perfect spot for our needed Scrapbooking girls weekend. The owners are super nice and accommodating. Cute house on beautiful land. Also, far enough away from Houston but not too far do you feel you've driving forever. Easy to get to. Will definitely go back.
Our family of three (2 adults and a 14-year-old boy), and Golden Retriever rented this INCREDIBLE property for an entire month, and it was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! We reside in Katy, Texas - about 1:15 hour away - and were able to conveniently and leisurely commute on occasion. The property was EXACTLY as described. Beautiful & spacious! Secluded. Serene. Decor was stylish.....think "Fixer Upper" TV show!! Large kitchen. Washer & drier were so wonderful to have. Large dining room. Comfortable beds. Big TV with cable. Internet!!! Spectacular sunset views! We enjoyed taking long, peaceful walks regularly. The property owners were very friendly, hosts and very accessible when we contacted them via text for quick questions. I feel we became friends. :-) We are "veteran" VRBO customers, having staying in numerous properties the past years and throughout the country, and honestly feel this was by far the MOST ENJOYABLE stay. We will DEFINITELY be back!!!
We brought my 75 year old parents to the area for the history and antiquing. We chose to come in early spring for the flowers and were not disappointed. The farmhouse location, layout size and amenities were perfect for this visit.
Our stay was no less than wonderful! Our family of grown siblings and one spouse booked our 2 day stay and it took all of 5 seconds for everyone to approve once they arrived. The house was warm and inviting and not in the least bit sterile or 'vanilla'. It felt like Gran's House...perfectly comfortable. Our experience was enhanced by the graciousness of our hosts and their sweet fox terrier, Lilly. She doesn't meet any strangers and was a welcome addition to our gathering. The porch was a good and breezy place to congregate at any time. The kitchen had all of the implements and equipment with which to prepare meals. The property was a joy to wander, providing snacks for the horses, food for the goldfish in the water lily pond. Our hosts were never intrusive, but available and when Dean visited with Lily, we peppered him with questions about the place and their history with it. (No spoilers here. You'll have to ask your own questions if you're interested.) Be prepared to miss the place the moment you begin to leave!
We stayed here for our Round Top Weekend and couldn't have been happier! The house was very clean, comfortable and just as cute as can be and the surrounding pasture was filled with bluebonnets! When we arrived we were welcomed with brownies, a bottle of wine and a fire pit completely prepared to light. It was a perfect greeting! Nancy was very attentive to details and to meeting our needs while we were there. It was a great place to linger over breakfast and conversation and a wonderful place to land after a full day of shopping. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and certainly hope to have the opportunity to do so!
