About Nancy Heard

The property is owned and operated by Dean and Nancy Heard who lived and worked in the Houston area for years before permanently relocating to a slower pace of life in Washington Texas.

Why Nancy Heard chose Texas

The property has been in Nancy's family for over 100 years. The farmhouse was her Great Grandmother's House but was restored by the couple and was their weekend getaway from life in the city. They now want to share that getaway with others wanting an escape from the city.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The property is not only centrally located between Houston and Austin but centrally located between College Station and Brenham, simply a great location!

Mornings and evening are the best! Listening to the birds, cows, horses and roosters, watching the deer and feeling the breeze. Enjoying the beautiful sunsets and wonderful sunrises! Laying on the hammock at night watching the stars!

Absolutely charming

We stayed during the last week of the October Round Top sale. This house is so adorable and has everything you need to be comfortable after a day of shopping in Round Top. The AC works great, the beds are comfortable, the TV has cable and she has tons of great DVD’s. The kitchen is well stocked, the shower had good pressure. The property is quiet (although I did hear barking dogs pretty consistently) and it’s so nice to sit outside in the cool of the day in her very comfortable chairs. She made a plate of brownies and left a bottle of wine for us. The house is decorated so nicely. I just can’t say enough about it.

Heavenly farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

Had a girls weekend at the Farmhouse. The house and decor are adorable. The beds and linens were comfy and cozy and we all rested well. The kitchen and bathrooms are well equipped. We shopped at the antique market and came back to the Farmhouse each evening for dinner and wine and conversation around the firepit. It was so wonderful to get away from the city and to enjoy the acreage, horses, fish, hummingbirds, and lightening bugs! The owners live close by and were extremely nice and accommodating. I would love to go back for a getaway with my husband. The farmhouse would also be great for families. I highly recommend.

Guesthouse is not private. Noisy farmhands working around the guesthouse at all hours.

  • 1 of 5

No privacy exist in this "guesthouse" or anywhere around the property. Leaf blowing, noisy tractors, farmhands around the property at all hours. Very difficult to have quiet or rest. Items guests may leave in the furniture drawers, etc. are never returned to the guests.

Owner's Response: Our guests comfort are our top priority. Our home is very private and quiet. This is the first time since opening in 2013 that we have ever heard that privacy or quietness is an issue. If a guest has any issue and communicates with us, we immediately try to rectify the issue. Good communication can never be discounted! Regarding items left, if a guest notifies us or if we find items of significance, we communicate with the guest to make arrangements to get the item back to the guest.

Beautiful quiet surprise in the country

  • 5 of 5

My BFF in Houston and I took a short and sweet escape from Houston to spend quality time together to gather some photographic material for future paintings. This vrbo was clean, quiet, had fabulous beds and was decorated so sweetly. I even had no complaints about the cooking gadgets in the kitchen! The special non stick pans were so good I made sure I knew what they were to go and buy one for myself! Nancy provided some horse treats and fish food for us and we had a great time feeding the critters. We wished we had stayed longer! I will certainly try to go back.

Loved our stay at the farmhouse! Just a short weekend, but we antiqued in Navasota and explored Washington On The Brazos Park. This place has everything you need from the comfy beds, great shower, and fully equipped kitchen. Nice views from the windows, big TV and cable, great place to be lazy! Thanks, Nancy!
