About Nancy Heard

The property is owned and operated by Dean and Nancy Heard who lived and worked in the Houston area for years before permanently relocating to a slower pace of life in Washington Texas.

Why Nancy Heard chose Washington

The property has been in Nancy's family for over 100 years. The farmhouse was her Great Grandmother's House but was restored by the couple and was their weekend getaway from life in the city. They now want to share that getaway with others wanting an escape from the city.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The property is not only centrally located between Houston and Austin but centrally located between College Station and Brenham, simply a great location!

Mornings and evening are the best! Listening to the birds, cows, horses and roosters, watching the deer and feeling the breeze. Enjoying the beautiful sunsets and wonderful sunrises! Laying on the hammock at night watching the stars!

This is an amazing property with the absolute best owners!

This has been our best experience ever with VBRO. We picked this 1935 farmhouse to have some quiet time away from the Canadian winter. What a perfect location and it exceeded all of our expectations. The house was fantastic, very roomy and warm. High speed internet and satellite TV were amazing. The property is very large and was a treasure for our little dog Chico.

Nancy and Dean are fantastic hosts and great neighbours. The brownies are fantastic and made us feel welcome on our first day. Nancy and Dean made us feel like family and were very helpful in finding all the great little gems in the area.

We all look forward to our visits from Lily, Dean and Nancy's wonderful little dog, especially Chico as they also became friends. We love their dedication to wildlife and really enjoyed the deer, horses, fish and many birds.

We enjoyed the area and found everyone very welcoming. Navasota, Brenham and College Station had everything we could every ask for.

We highly recommend this location for short and long term stays.

Owner's Response: We are so happy we were able to add value to your “Texas” experience. We really enjoyed you both and Chico. Meeting incredible people is one of the best parts about having a vacation rental! We welcome you back and hope you recommend us to your Canadian friends!

Charming and tranquil

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our friends’weekend at The Guesthouse! The house was beautifully decorated and nicely equipped with the necessities. We enjoyed the horses, the goldfish and the quiet surroundings. The house was easy to find, comfortable, and centrally located-close to Brenham, Navasota and Bryan. The only suggestion is that the gate was not well lit at night and we had trouble finding it after dark.

Breckenridge. Texas

Quaint is the perfect description!!

  • 5 of 5

Our group consist of three couples being siblings and in laws. Age from 68 to 76. This place fit right into our family as we came from several different areas of the state, out of state and one from Central America.

Beds were very comfortable, house reminded us of going to the country to visit our grandparents. The country side was like pictures you see in magazines. OH, and the brownies were the best ever.

Our group agreed, that this place was one of best that we have stayed.

We have been using VRBO for five years, and this makes the ninth Vrbo we have rented.

Hats off to the owners!
