Ahhh, Villa Bliss - 2 Acre Estate, Salt Water Heated Pool & Unrivaled Views
About Property Manager
Being born in the foothills of the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, we were accustomed to living in a tourist area. But, we wanted a more laid back and less "touristy" feel in our much anticipated island villa. That's why St. Croix is such a perfect fit. It has all the natural beauty and the most perfect weather on the planet, just like the sister islands of St. Thomas & St. John. Even though it is the largest of the United States Virgin Islands, it is lesser known and more of a value in vacation rentals and real estate sales. Donna Ford is our on island property manager and has lived and worked on St. Croix for most of her life. She is a great asset in learning all about this perfect spot on the planet. You can call her at Ford Real Estate (340)778-8782.

Why Property Manager chose Slob
This 2 bedroom villa has been beautifully, tastefully updated and upgraded inside and out. First, the view is impossible to duplicate, looking over The Reef Golf Course, A Beautiful National Park of 176 acre Buck Island & Reef, the Glistening White Ships of St. Croix Yacht Club, the Contessa's Castle on the peak of Mountaintop Eyrie, oh and the wide angle view of Turquoise and deep blues of the Carribean Sea. If you're looking for relaxing, high end quality, comfortable & tasteful...it's all here and with that British West Indies Tropical flair. Inside and outside have been completely furnished with new pieces in every space. This little villa lives much bigger than its two King-sized bedrooms. There are more square feet Outdoors than Indoors....but, the Sunny Days and Starry Nights are the reason we all love the Caribbean. An Outdoor Grill for yummy meals is provided under a poolside gazebo. Both sunny and shady spaces exist here and will delight any traveler's needs. All of the above, PLUS the perfect location for the prevailing "East Winds" that swirl through the opened windows & doors. Not every villa is situated perfectly for the benefit of the cooling breezes in the islands. Not every villa offers all the benefits of Villa Bliss. Your treasured "Island Time" will be a cherished memory from your days and nights in Villa Bliss. This unique and lovely property will not disappoint, even the most discriminating visitor.

BLISS is right...
I already wrote a review but it wasn't showing, so i will write another. My husband and I spent the week here for my bday/anniversary. It truly was BLISS! Let me start with the owners since I really didn't interact with the management co much. We had a little glitch when we first got there. I text the owner and within minutes she responded and within 20 mins, someone was at the house. I am in the business of customer service. The owner reacted to our needs as I would have which made me very happy. I read another review about the air conditioning only being in the bedroom. I for one am all about the air, however, it's the Caribbean!!! Fans, breeze from being up on the mountain, was it hot, yes but isn't that why you go to the Caribbean? We didn't use the air once. It was high 80's to 90's daily and at night it was never below 82-3. We slept with a sheet and the fans were on all the time, the pool cools you off too. The villa was clean, comfortable and all the sitting areas outside...I was in heaven. Being able to swim while looking at the ocean, AWESOME! The villa was well appointed with spices, dishes AND knives that actually cut. If you are lucky enough to get a lime off the bush outside, OMG it was the best lime I ever ate or put in my drink! It was private, peaceful, relaxing and a great trip! Thank you Vicky!
Alison, To say that you would be welcomed back would be an understatement! You were above and beyond the guests that any owner could hope to stay in a vacation property. From just the few things that I am aware of, there is no doubt that our property is better for having you stay with us. When I said to please treat our place just like your own, I had no idea that would include you seeking out opportunities to make little repairs and leave pretty sea shells and sea fans from your beach treasure hunts around our villa. Again, I ask....who gets guests like this???? If an owner of a vacation villa is reading this, consider yourself blessed to have the Sheaffers as your guests. Please come back again....but, even more than that, please stay in touch. It’s not everyday that someone like you and your husband come along. This delightful and unexpected kind of encounter is the absolute best part of sharing our property with our guest. May you be every bit as richly blessed as you so freely give to the world.
Thank you for being such super star guests.
Vicky and Teddy,
The pictures of the view don't do it justice. That was our first reaction when we walked in the front door and could see through the back door, over the gorgeous pool out into the harbour! Awesome!
The rest is as you'd expect. Really well kept property, comfortable bed, nicely redone master bath and really cool outdoor shower. We couldn't get enough of the pool. Morning dip, evening dip, after dinner dip! More outdoor seating areas than you can ever use but it was fun trying almost all of them!
STX also was great from the locals at Ziggy's and Castaways to a fantastic dinner at Savant in Christiansted. We do recommend getting a Jeep. It's a steep hill and driveway and some of the island roads can be rough but it's not a necessity.
Highly recommend Villa Bliss and STX!
Dave, what a great glimpse into your island time and appreciation of our vacation rental. You hit on some of our favorites. We love that Ziggy’s Island Market/Gas Station/Deli/Libation Station and Castaways restaurant and bar are just a few minutes away from Villa Bliss. Savant is one of our top choices in restaurants, too. We are so happy to read that you enjoyed the pool, our various outdoor spaces and of course THE VIEW! Obviously, you’re an instant island kind of guy. Know that we enjoyed hosting you and would always welcome you back. Hopefully, your memories will call you back again soon.
Our Island Getaway
What an amazing getaway! The views were absolutely stunning and the villa was awesome. I felt totally at home the moment I arrived. Everything we needed -and more- was available to us. The villa had such pretty decor and there were so many places to sit and relax it was hard to choose a favorite! Though I must say, I miss having my morning coffee while swinging in the cabana.
The pool/ outdoor area was very much enjoyed by my family and we had a lot of fun swimming and relaxing there....even a bit of star gazing at night. The list goes on and on!
We enjoyed snorkeling at Buck Island (the beach there is amazing), doing the Bio Bay tour, checking out area beaches (Mermaid Beach was a favorite), driving to Point Udall, shopping downtown Christiansted and overall island exploring. I have so many lovely pictures and memories from this trip!
My review would not be complete, however, if I did not comment on the owners. My new friend Vicky was absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond! I truly cannot say enough positive things. She was in contact with me well before we arrived and often throughout the trip just to make sure things were going ok and we were enjoying our vacation. She provided tips and recommendations that almost made me feel like a local! Her kindness really helped to make our trip unforgettable and I am so sincerely appreciative.
Can't wait to visit again!
What a wonderful review! Once in a while, we connect to our guests in such a way that it feels like we have known them for much longer and that we do not want to loose that connection. Thank you, Donna, for being that guest. You and your family were so special and so enjoyable to assist. It pleases us beyond just being grateful that you enjoyed Villa Bliss and St. Croix so much. Please do make plans to come back....you’re a natural born “Island Girl”! 😎
White and blue incredible view
St Croix summers are very hot but we had to be there for something other than a vacation. We made the most of it though. Went to Buck Island, swam at Shore’s beautiful beach, hiked at Issac’s bay.
The house is on the East end of StC, a bit of a drive from town but that was fine with us. A pool to swim swim, pretty decor, well stocked with towels, comfortable beds. We enjoyed just staring at the view. Dona , the owner, was very helpful and attentive.
Perfect little getaway in St Croix
It was such a pleasure to host you as our guests at Villa Bliss. We especially appreciate you choosing our property, since you are past island residents with so many ties to St. CROIX. To have someone who really knows the island select our little villa really does speak volumes. Thank you so much for your kind review and your appreciation of what we offer to our visitors. You will always be welcome to come back to Villa Bliss.
Beauty with drawbacks
This was our first time to St. Croix. Although the villa was decorated very nicely, had grand views of the Caribbean and Buck Island, and was in a safe, nice area......it had some drawbacks. It’s VERY far from everything you will want to do. There is nothing really close to do. The only “beach” access was at a restaurant and not accessible due to seaweed on the shore. The listing says within walking distance but that’s really stretching it in the horrid heat and then having to trek back up the steep hillside to the villa with a full belly. There was no AC that cooled the entire villa, only in the bedrooms which confined you to your rooms. We couldn’t enjoy the living area, bathrooms or kitchen without sweating. There was no coffee or bottled water which we believe should’ve been complimentary because at other VRBO listings, we had that and hotels offer that too. The notebook of things to do in the area was outdated. It said there was a buffet at Pelican Cove and there wasn’t for over a year after we drove all the way there. There were no listings of beaches or how to get to them which we found very difficult until we googled them. After paying over $120 on snorkel gear, my husband discovered them tucked away in a closed shelving unit in the laundry room as we were packing up to leave for the airport. That would’ve been helpful to know if it would’ve been posted in the notebook. We don’t feel like there was helpful info in the villa for guests that have never been to the island. Thank goodness for our phones and internet. The pool was dirty and wasn’t cleaned until 3 days after we arrived. So, like I titled this, it was beautiful with many drawbacks. If you want seclusion and to stay on the east end and not drive anywhere, here’s your place, otherwise stay closer to Christiansted or Fredricksted that has direct beach access.
It is as if this review were written about another property or by a completely different guest than who we experienced. Since we were in contact repeatedly before and during your stay, it is bewildering and frustrating that you would rate our property the lowest possible rating. Absolutely All VRBO communications and many text messages were nothing but complimentary. The extensive handwritten note, that you left in our guest book, was filled with only positive comments and listing all the things that you loved during your stay. Not until we read this review did we have any idea that you were not happy. To now criticize our property, with no possible chance to address your concerns, is simply unfair and unwarranted. Had you made your “drawbacks” known in one of your texts, we would have had an opportunity and been happy to assist or better inform you. I will attempt to do so now. Like so many villas on an island, there are some differences than that you would typically find in a stateside vacation rental. Very few villas have whole house air conditioning and the few that do are the very high end and much more expensive than what you paid for your five day stay at Villa Bliss. This is due to electricity costs being about five times more than stateside costs. But, when opening the windows and vented doors, the almost constant sea breezes swirl throughout the villa and our 9 indoor, high efficiency ceiling fans help to make a much more pleasant experience than being closed up tight in air conditioning for the bedrooms. The birds chirping and the gentle sounds of the waves breaking over the reef are audible with the open air feeling, too. We are certain that you must have noticed that In the Caribbean, even our restaurants are open air with no AC, too. This is only one of many factors that we love about “Island life”. All of the beaches are open to the public, as I informed you in one of the text messages when recommending a favorite beach, so you could be more likely to avoid the drift of occasional and naturally occurring seaweed. The additional mid week pool cleaning was offered as another courtesy to you by a very reputable company, that we contract with for this service. As far as the comments about our location, the East End area is the most highly sought after area of the island, that is only 26 miles long. Further, our 175’ above sea level location, as stated in the second paragraph of our description, is within walking distance to the beach. But, if you choose or prefer not to walk, there is a beachfront parking lot within a one minute drive. The 15-20 minute drive from Christiansted town is clearly shown on the map provided on the VRBO site. All of this information was fully disclosed and available prior to your booking.
We are so sad to read that you were this unhappy in choosing what we and our previous guests have enjoyed to the fullest, as is evident by our thirty four - 5 star reviews prior to yours. We take a lot of pride and invest our time, efforts and resources in our little Island home and sincerely want every guest to love Villa Bliss, too. But, now it’s certainly obvious that no matter how hard we try, it isn’t possible to please everyone, even in a tropical paradise.

Our stay at Villa Bliss
This property is very nice. High on a hill with a spectacular view and a constant breeze. Located in a very quiet neighborhood and with a nice pool, we would definitely stay here again.
Your five star review is so very appreciated. Please know that you will be welcomed to stay with us anytime we have a vacancy for your island travels. We look forward to hosting you and your guests again.
St. Croix is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Villa Bliss is located in a perfect East End area for incredible views of the Caribbean Sea, Buck Island and the white ships of the St. Croix Yacht Club. This location offers great privacy with only two villas on a shared driveway. 180 ft. Above sea level, this private knoll offers the benefit of the lovely prevailing Easternly Sea breezes. Walking distance of two very popular restaurants (TLC Kitchen & Duggan's Reef Restaurant & Bar). Short walking distance to Teague Bay beach. For the joggers, we are just minutes from Point Udall which is an outstanding 4 mile jog with breathtaking views all the way. St Croix Yacht club is nearby with sailing lessons and entertainment. For the gambler, we are about 2 miles from the Divi Casino and beachfront resort . Plus, located just across the street is The Reef golf course.
