Luxury, privacy, outdoor living, onsite hikes, jog, foodie, wine, fashion, HP.
My wife is a local artist, and I am an engineer/musician. We lived in the Washington DC area for 35 years, and I retired from US Navy civilian service in 2014. We had a second home in Lancaster for about 10 years, and decided to live here permanently. Hi! Its Alana, his band is called Wild Self. I still teach calligraphy and fashion camps at Glen Echo Park outside of DC, and I do set design for a local college and for many years, Adventure Theatre in MD at Glen Echo Park. We love our sanctuary here in Willow Street, and for us every day feels like being in a resort. Sharing it to inspire others was part of the plan from the beginning because we always love to entertain. We took over three years to create our space, so it would be truly one of the best places to visit in the WORLD, not just Lancaster. Your stay being absolutely wonderful is so important to us. And we are humble. You help us if you would like to leave a suggestion or have a critique or even what you liked best about your stay. Our friendly dogs, Echo (the dalmatian) and Mary (bisengi/Pitt) are NEVER in the room, are corralled when outside away from your garden space. We love to meet you but if you are the private type, we get that too and follow your lead on that. I have a tiny “shop” with post cards, handmade origami cards, tee shirts, posters, fine art and other gift items. Just request and I can make it available for you to peruse.
Rick purchased this House in 2014
Why Rick chose Willow Street
We loved this property for many reasons. It is in the country, yet close to town. It was our dream house, built the year we met by Jay and Betty Haverstick. They are kindred spirits to us because it is a one of a kind, totally unique 6000 sq ft home that is mostly on one level with three big garages. Over the years they put on additions (see the bricks with year to indicate when that wing was added) that just made the house even more perfect for us. They too were entertainers so we loved the great on site parking, outdoor living and over 200 trees planted by Jay made it a perfect property to walk around for daily walks. It is surrounded by large properties that are very well maintained and wonderful neighbors who are friendly, including our Amish neighbors so feel free to say hi and chat with them. I always lived in older homes and never thought a house of this age would be good for me, but it is absolutely wonderful, clean, peaceful energy and environmentally it is wonderful as the farm above is is all organic. I tend to have allergies and hayfever but I am absolutely fine here. That was a great plus because being in the country can be a challenge for me. I love that you can walk, hike, jog without having to get in the car and drive. If you would like to host a wedding or party for up to fifty guests we are also open to talking about hosting an event like this for you.
What makes this House unique
Spring water out of the tap. Low allergy for country living. Organic farm across the street. Over twenty horses live within 1000 yards of us. Onsite walking and forest to enjoy. Art and music creativity support on site. Muse house is designed to inspire creativity. A very unique energy here. There are ancient petroglyphs within 1000 yards of house, and there is a energetic environment that is hard to describe, but for me it feels like time is stopped, or it has a timeless quality to it. I will have to write better on this but everyone agrees it is so easy to leave everything behind when you come here. It is a stress free zone, THAT is for SURE. So we just love that benefit which was such a nice surprise to us.

Escape to the country!
Accommodations are magnificent and the woodland setting is super relaxing! We had a wonderful stay at this property and look forward to visiting again next time we're in the area. The owners obviously paid close attention to every detail when planning this space out and it shows. 5 stars on everything!
Nice, comfortable, room with plenty of great amenities, including a very cool jacuzzi tub for two.
We really enjoyed our one night stay here. We had an outside fire, cooked an authentic Italian pasta dinner in the kitchen area, enjoyed the jacuzzi and slept wonderfully in the king-sized bed. Low key, private, clean and creative spot to spend a special night.
This place was amazing. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary and we decided to stay here. We are locals to the area, but we loved how tourist friendly this place is. The book/binder was beautifully put together. It had drawings and details all about the area and things to do! Absolutely loved it here and can’t stop telling people about it! Definitely hit all of our marks and was perfect for our weekend away from reality.
Rick and Alana provided us with the most romantic anniversary getaway we could have asked for. This room was everything it describes as well as close to everything we wanted to do. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!
Beauty in every corner with so much attention to detail!
From the first minute of walking in the door I was in awe of the space. Beauty and luxury with an eclectic vibe! I cannot say enough about the attention to detail either. The little notes around the room were so helpful and the binder with suggestions really came in handy!
My husband and I are already thinking of a trip back during the summer months!
Romantic room was perfect for our weekend away
The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the room! We thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing weekend away and the jetted tub was wonderful!! All of the notes around the room was excellent and we can not wait to go back!
