Modern reproduction of an old-fashioned cottage on gorgeous Ocean Point. Very private but only 10-15 minutes to shops and attractions. Just steps to the water.
In case you are a large party, come in July when the cottage next door is also for rent.
This is a friendly, coastal neighborhood with great family atmosphere. There's a small private beach available to residents, boat docks right down the street.
You can munch on a lobster roll at one of our open-air, informal dock/restaurants or dress up and go to the loveliest of seaside restaurants.
We have it all - rustic atmosphere cottage to free wifi and cable. Come experience it!
We are professionals who handle our own property. It is personally maintained and cared for. Our family history in this area goes back to the turn of the century.
Carol May purchased this cottage in 2013
ECONOMICS! It is affordable and comfortable. Why pay thousands for the week when you can pay just $950?
One-acre lot is extremely private. Land is shared with one other cottage.
The location of this lovely little hide-away gem of a cabin has the perfect relaxing overlook view of Ocean Point, without the crazy passing traffic and congestion of the homes along the water. It was quiet and comfortable, with just about any amenity a couple on vacation could need.
My boyfriend and I spent two weeks and were very comfortable. In fact, it was hard to leave the gracious hospitality and surroundings, especially with such accommodating owners! Privacy was all ours with a separate cabin, grill, and parking space. The kitchen is an efficiency, but there is more than enough for easy meals and the outdoor grill is fantastic. You'll want to sit on the lawn chairs with cocktails while the grill is going! The big bonus was a huge bath with washer/dryer! What a treat to come home with clean clothes to just put away! The owners keep the cabin well stocked with necessities and only ask that you help replace what you use...which is more than reasonable.
We enjoyed the location's conveniences as well with nightly strolls along the Ocean Point rocks to watch the sunset, sea kayaking right from the cove near by, and its closeness of East Boothbay and Boothbay harbor. We rented kayaks from Tidal Transit in Boothbay (who were fantastic and will even deliver the kayaks to you) and had a fabulous sunset sailing cruise on the Eastwind Schooner (highly recommended as well). If the day is a rainy one - we highly recommend browsing the used book store located next to the Boothbay library for some very economical reading materials as they sell used library books in excellent condition.
The only complaint we have is that we had to leave!!!! We definitely plan to return next year.
My husband and I stayed in the guest cottage for two weeks in August. It was very clean and comfortable and while we were there, the owners Carol and Keith cleared the brush and opened a view to the ocean for guests sitting outside. They were both very responsive and friendly. We have vacationed in Maine for many years and Ocean Point is well worth a visit. The downstairs bedroom was cool even though the daytime temperatures were often quite hot. Visiting the Maine Botanical Gardens is a must.
Maine, and East Boothbay in particular, is the place to be in June. Left 13 days in a row in the 90's in Louisville, KY for fabulous cool mornings and evenings and just warm enough days in Maine. The rhododendrons and lilac trees, not shrubs!, were in full bloom in the yard. The accommodations have everything you need and then some more. Kitchen, dining, fold down futon and very comfortable fold out cot are on the second floor. Carol, the owner, has thoughtfully prepared everything, including pamphlets on places to visit and eat. This is seafood heaven! If you think mussels and clams are tough and chewy you haven't had them in Maine. Steam your own lobster dinner or enjoy it in almost every restaurant. Lobster rolls must have a whole lobster in them! There is so much to see and do and enjoy. This was a girls' week and we will return! Don't have enough superlatives to describe the cottage, area and food.
We had a great five days at the house, staying with my wife any two kids.
Carol, the owner, was extremely helpful and responsive.
And the house was well equipped with everything that one would need!
Our stay was comfortable, quiet, convenient and charming. The cottage, which had been recently renovated, had all the feel of a traditional Maine cottage without lobster motifs. The screened in back porch was ideal for reading and viewing the harbor. We had ready access to the water, walking areas, and biking roads. Art galleries were plentiful and easy to walk to. The kitchen was fully equipped which made meals easy to prepare. We hope to return next year.
