I am a world traveler who now calls Lexington home. After attending University of Kentucky I settled in to a nice life with my girlfriend Katlyn. Together we manage the property as a side business and enjoy offering guests with a quality place to stay in Lexington!
Matti Pauli purchased this house in 2005
I do my best to keep a comfortable clean environment for people on vacation/business or what have you :)
The location, safe neighborhood, ability to walk or drive to anything quickly is a great benefit to staying at my home in downtown Lexington!
Looking for a place in Lexington for a large group on the bourbon trail was proving to be difficult until I came across this great house. Matti provides an exceptional place to stay located close to the University of Kentucky and can be used as headquarters if your on the Bourbon Trail. The house has 5 bedrooms and plenty of space to move around freely. The Wifi and Bluetooth stereo system was very cool letting us listen to music from anywhere in the house. We got meet Matti when we first arrived and he was very polite giving us tips and tricks on what the locals do for fun in Lexington. There were enough bathrooms for all of us and it truly was the perfect place for all of us to stay. Updated furniture was relaxing and no one complained about sore backs or uncomfortable conditions. If I do the trail again with a group I will definitely be staying here. Thanks Matti for everything.

If you love to spend a considerable amount of money per night and live amongst dirt and filth - then this is the house for you! We were a group of six women from Ohio and Tennessee, so Lexington was a midway point.
Below are a few examples of our experience:
* Feminine napkins left in the bathroom from the previous renters. Stench was unbearable.
* Mouse droppings on kitchen floor.
* Shower curtain liner (there was no actual shower curtain) in two of the bathrooms were so moldy and mildewed, they were unfit to shower in.
* Hairs in the refrigerator.
* Couldn't take shoes off because the carpet was filthy with big spots of some unknown substance.
* We had to wipe down all cabinets, hardware and door knobs.
* Had to clean toilets - filthy, and had not been scrubbed.
* Dead bugs laying around the perimeter walls - telling us the house must have just been fumigated.
* For sanitary reasons, renters with small children would not be able to stay there with all the mouse droppings and dead bugs.
* Dirty linens from last group who stayed.
We had the homeowner (Matti) come over and he said that the conditions were acceptable and would not refund us any money. He kept telling us excuse after excuse, saying the house was "old", his cleaning woman wasn't feeling well, this was the best house around for the money, etc., etc. We requested to be refunded one night, but Matti refused. I told Matti that I would be writing a negative review, and he said he didn't care because he has plenty of positive reviews.
I've stayed in about ten VRBO homes in the past few years and you could literally eat off the floor. This place was repulsive.
Our main reason for pointing this out is because we don't want the next guest walking into this filthy, dirty, pigsty and be totally blindsided like we were.
Either Matti is writing all the magnificent reviews himself, or his cleaning woman is non-existent.
Great location. Good accommodations. Owner was extremely helpful. Would stay again.
not anything new to what's been previously written so more of a confirmation this is a great house for a group. housed 6 of us for a golf trip and offered plenty of space for us to not be on top of each other. walking distance to a few places to eat/drink along with a large grocery store nearby.
would recommend and use the house again for future trips.
This is the second time we have stayed here, both times during the holiday season. As we were a family of four, we rented the entire house. The location is great as it is within walking distance to my family, shopping, bars and restaurants. The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We highly recommend this property and will be sure to stay there again upon our next family trip to the Bluegrass!
This place is great. I used to live in this neighborhood, and didn't realize there were homes of such a layout on this street. Very interesting split-level design, with two staircases and multiple commons areas. I had a large group and it felt really cozy. Everyone could find quiet space if they needed, or separate areas to hang out. The location is great, and we were just a walk away from plenty of spots to keep us entertained through the Thanksgiving weekend.
Matti is a great host, and I hope to rent from him again!
8 30-40 years rented this deceiving long row house within walking distance of downtown to see the sights of Lexington. Matti was fantastic, helpful and reachable. Kitchen was stocked with supplies and all appliances were in working order. This house was perfect for our needs of exploring Lexington and the Bourbon Trail.
The house is nestled on a sleepy one way st in the heart of downtown Lexington. The local grocery store is 2 blocks away, there is dining establishments from the sandwich shop on the corner to fine dining a few blocks away. The neighborhood is safe and community oriented with lots of recreational walking and jogging. at the end of the st is a large and beautiful park that has tennis, basketball, swimming, softball, skateboarding and other activities. The football and basketball stadium are even within walking distance as is the arboretum. It is a short drive to the numerous outlying scenic drives that border Lexington along with horse parks, golf courses, romantic parks and historical landmarks. And don't forget the Bourbon Trail!!!
You will have a blast in Lexington and if you have any questions about what to do while you are here I have a list of helpful suggestions on hand :)
