About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 6

Perfect for a rustic vacation away from the stress of daily life, this Rhododendron riverfront cottage on the Sandy River is an amazing place to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

Small and quiet Rhododendron, Oregon, is located between Sandy and Mt. Hood (about 20 minutes from each), so between the river, the forests, and the mountain, you will have no shortage of wilderness to appreciate! This particular home is located at the end of the street in a very quiet, family neighborhood, and a short path in the backyard leads directly to the beautiful Sandy River.

The house itself was recently remodeled and has a comfortable, cabin-theme decor with an efficient floor plan and minimal electronic distractions. The living room has plenty of seating for a small family to sit around the gas fireplace and play one of the board games provided. WiFi and a selection of books are also available, so you won't even notice the lack of a TV! In the full kitchen you will find gorgeous tile countertops and all the major appliances and everything you will need to cook a meal for yourself and your guests.

Downstairs also has a full bathroom, washer and dryer, and a sofa in the living room that can fold out to a bed at night. Upstairs there is a loft area and a daybed with a trundle bed, plus the master bedroom which features a half-bathroom and a king-size bed. With all the sleeping spaces packed into this home, up to six people (plus two 20-pound or less dogs, though a nightly fee per dog and minimum fee per stay will apply) can sleep comfortably! And right out the back door is a nice deck and a fire pit, plus the path that will lead you a short way to the river.

This home has easy access to many outdoor activities: wading, exploring, or fishing in the river is just steps away, hiking and biking trails in the forest are 3 miles down the road, golfing and restaurants in Welches are 2 miles away, and Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge is just 20 miles east. The rustic cottage would be a perfect place to spend a few days enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, whether you venture to the mountain or stay in the comfort of your vacation home.

If a nature-filled retreat close to all sorts of outdoor activities sounds like your idea of a good time, this rental property is waiting for you!

About Vacasa, OR - Mt Hood / Hood River Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s familys summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a websitecould be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Owner's Response: The property manager has replaced the batteries for the gas stove in the living room. We are unsure about the situation with the bathroom as it was unlocked when the property manager inspected it. We ask that guests please call with assistance in these matters so we can help make their stay more enjoyable. Thanks!

Not true river front.

Could not see the river. Not the true Sandy river either. Overflow fork. Needed to walk 6-8 minutes for the Sandy river.

Wonderful cabin along the Sandy river. Perfect for our guys weekend - close to hiking, Mt. Hood, fishing, the national forest, and plenty of good grub. Beds were comfy, space clean and simple with a great cabin vibe. Thank you!!

Great little quiet getaway spot!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this place as a little 4 day getaway for my wife and two little boys (age 5 and 2). We just wanted an escape to some place quiet, remote, relaxing, and close to water where the kids could play. The cabin has been renovated, and was quite nice. We rent vacation homes a lot, and most of them have some weird quirks that would be difficult to live with for an extended time... but not this place. This place was modern, clean, nicely finished, all the conveniences, spacious, everything worked, and it was a perfect retreat. The house isn't all that big, but the kitchen is big, the dining area big (with a big table), the living area cozy, the loft was nice sized, and the master bedroom was big (with a balcony). It worked very well for us. We went during the week, and no one else was around, so it was so quiet and private. We also went to explore the river, but one has to remember the Sandy river is fed from snow melt, so the water level and speed will be different depending on the time of year. We went in late June, and the water was at mid level, so there was beach and some side streams for the kids to play in (the main river is fast and cold and dangerous for little kids). If we went in later summer, the riverbed opens up with more 'beach'. As a whole, the place is great! We needed a private escape into the wilderness, and we got it. We only stayed 4 days, and that was enough.... any more and we would have started to get cabin fever. The place is not quite set up for little kids under 5 years old (the stairs are steep, the deck is missing hand rails in areas with drops, and everything outside is truly rough wilderness), but they did have a nice DVD selection for kids and a little flat screen TV in the master bedroom, which was a lifesaver. If you're looking for a quiet retreat that lives like home, you can't go wrong with this place!
