Cabin on the Ridge
House is ok. No shower in master bath. Stairs to get to dock are extremely steep. Dock is easily the worst in the cove, however, it is lakefront. If you are looking to tie more than one sizable boat it will be extremely difficult. House is guarded with several trees so can't really see the lake from the back deck on the house, it is also very narrow. In order to enjoy views during the summer you need to be on the dock or the water. Several beautiful homes on the same road and the location on the water is close enough to several marinas. Check out list provided by the owner is lengthy (7 pages: includes directions and rules). Even with the challenges we enjoyed our stay.
Chris, we're glad you enjoyed your stay overall, but are sorry to hear certain aspects of your stay fell short. The master bathroom has a hand shower available for use, but the homeowner decided against a standard wall mounted shower so ensure the large tub can be properly enjoyed. Additionally, they've never had issues tying up a cabin cruise, pontoon, and two wave runners to the dock. The directions packet sent by the owner only has one to two paragraphs regarding important details for check-out and it's standard in the vacation rental industry for guests to complete a short list of items before check-out. At least we were on the lake
Thankful to be on the water , but very disappointed in the home. The house had a significant rodent problem with mouse dropping practically everywhere, even on the tv stand. There was open containers of decon under the sink which was a little scary with having a toddler. All pots/ pans had to be washed prior to use. Overall the house was dated, stairs were steep and uneven, and the dock was smaller than expected. We were asked to take all of the trash to the dump which was extremely far and out of the way while pulling a boat! We are thankful to the owners for opening their home but we would not stay here again.
Jade, we're sorry to hear your stay didn't meet your expectations. We wish you would've reached out about your concerns while in residence. The homeowner would've been more than happy to have the house inspected and cleaned again, if necessary. Because the house is in the woods, the owner takes special care to ensure pests aren't an issue for guests. They store the pest deterrent above the dryer in the laundry area, which is out of reach for children. We apologize if you found some under the sink, but we are sure this was an isolated incident. It's standard in the vacation rental industry to ask guests to complete simple tasks before check-out, such as taking out the trash, and we can confirm the main trash disposal is on the main road and close to the property. Additionally, taking out the trash before check-out helps ensure pests aren't an issue. We use professional photos so guests have an idea of what to expect in terms of the stairs and dock, but we're sorry these didn't meet your needs. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. Norris Lake Rental Home
The home was nice. The owner is in the process of renovating. Did not cause any issue with our stay. Was very clean. Had everything we needed for Thanksgiving. Bedding/mattress need to be replaced but I am sure that is in process. We enjoyed our stay.

The online pictures were much nicer than the house
This house is tired and in much need of décor upgrades. The pictures are not reflective of the home's real condition. The steps to the dock are very steep and lean away from the house. The steps are killers and my family is in shape and in great health. Definitely look at other homes to rent first.

In Need of Some TLC & Maintenance
Maybe we just had bad luck or timing, but the air conditioning wasn't working when we arrived and the house was 86 degrees. We lost the first night and next morning of our trip being impossibly hot and dealing with contractors who were coming to try to fix it, and then more contractors in the morning who were there to work on the dock. In the morning, we also realized that the refrigerator was warm as well and we ended up having to throw out all the food we'd brought for the week. There were also a lot of stains on the sofa that were covered up with a blanket, large holes all along the screened in porch, and the stairs down to the dock were slanting and felt dangerous. The house didn't seem to be cleaned well either - there were cobwebs and leaves on the floor when we arrived and the outside furniture was filthy. We ended up finding another property for the rest of our trip. That being said, the owner and rental company were both very responsive and gracious in trying to get the problems resolved and ultimately in providing us a refund for our visit, but I would not recommend this property to friends.
Hi Kelly, We were very sorry to hear that your stay got off to such a rocky start! We have never had issues with the A/C during a guest's stay, and the homeowner immediately scheduled repairs so that the issue could be resolved as quickly as possible for you. They also inspected the fridge and can confirm that everything is in perfect working order. The owner has been actively updating the inside of the home, which includes installing a new furnace and A/C system, a new stove, and new hardwood floors. They also have several maintenance projects for the outdoor spaces set up for next year, and they appreciate your feedback for helping them improve the experience of their future guests.
