The house is available for rental for a minimum stay of 6 nights. Rental rates for more than 2 weeks are negotiable.

The property is one of a small number of exceptional villas designed by one of the country's leading architects, Karim el Achak, in a style influenced by traditional Berber architecture. It was completed in early 2010 and its interiors reflect a mix of Moroccan influences and European style and comfort.

There are 4 air-conditioned double/twin bedrooms, each with an en suite bath, shower and dressing area, and terraces with views of the Atlas Mountains. 3 bedrooms are off the courtyard on the ground floor; the fourth bedroom is on the first floor with its own dressing room and private terrace. The British hand-made beds are 190cm long and either 90cm [single] or 180cm [super-king] wide.

Thereis also an additional flat with twin beds, sitting room, bathroom and terrace which could be used by quest's staff or by children.

The salon, with dining area and fireplace, has large French windows on three sides leading on to the courtyard and terraces. The sitting room, also with fireplace, has Sky TV, HD Television, a PS3/BlueRay DVD player, surround-sound, laptop, fax and printer.

The kitchen and laundry are equipped with all modern appliances and laundry services are available.

In the courtyard a traditional pool and fountain are surrounded with scented trees and climbing plants with orange trees in the corners. The wide arcades around the courtyard provide a cool living area in hot weather.

Beside the swimming pool, about 50m from the house, is a large tiled terrace equipped with comfortable sun-loungers and a shaded area with seating. In the pool house is a shower, basin and WC. There is a drinks fridge, dining table, chairs and barbecue. Towels and pool accessories are available. The pool area is surrounded by a thick hedge with access via three gates, which can be locked if children are staying.

Dar Avellana has staff whom, by arrangement, could provide help with transport, cooking and child-minding. Car parking is provided on site – a hire car is advisable for larger parties - and there is a gardien who maintains security at night and operates the gates to the property. A car is available for use by guests.

The villa is ideally placed for visiting the sights of Marrakech including the exotic Djemaa El Fna square, the Medina’s souks and its historic sites such as the Koutoubia mosque, the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Marjorelle Gardens etc as well as for venturing into the mountains for trekking, sight-seeing and skiing.

Journeys, such as to Essaouira for example, can also be arranged if prior notice is given. The rental price quoted on this website cover bed and breakfast for a week. The cost of other food and drink, except on arrival the first evening, which is complementary, is for the client’s account and a gratuity on departure in recognition of the staff’s help would be appreciated. A guide for this would be £8 per person per week.

Beautifully decorated, a well-stocked kitchen with simply everything you need and so much to see in the surrounding area.



Great accessibility to the airport and the many attractions to see & do for the whole family - The souks, Atlas Mountains, Golf, etc...



Sun, food, relaxation and great location. Still more to see & enjoy after several visits.

Stunningly beautiful!

Dar Avellana is a stunningly beautiful oasis of calm just a short drive out of Marakesh towards the Atlas Mountains. The house is part of a small private estate and is beautifully designed in traditional Moroccan style with courtyards, patios and cool fountains. The pool area and outside space was just fabulous. It exceeded our expectations in every way.

I would highly recommend a stay at Dar Avellana and look forward to returning soon.

Oasis away from the madding crowd!

Marrakesh is a maddeningly fantastic city, but it can easily become too much, so a retreat away from the hustle and bustle is a necessity. Dar Avellana beautifully fulfils that requirement.

It is a large and recently constructed villa, very much in the local style, in a secluded private estate of a total of half a dozen villas. The site was once an olive grove and olive trees abound throughout the garden and grounds. The gardens are also planted with an abundance of roses and other flowers that welcome you on your arrival after the short drive out of the city towards the Atlas mountains.

As will be evident from the photographs on this page, the villa is large with expansive open areas, all enclosed within its own wall. The house is very light and airy and features a combination of European and Moorish influences. There is a delightful open courtyard with a fountain that brings a welcome relief from the warmth of the Moroccan summer. Across the rear lawn is the pool complex, which is complete with its own shower facilities and a covered dining area - perfect for lunchtime BBQ's.

The house has three double bedrooms around the courtyard, each with it's own outside seating area none of which overlook another. On the upper level there is a master suite with ante-rooms and the bedroom has the benefit of an external terrace with superb views of the mountains beyond.

During our visit we were looked after by a wonderful team of three local people, who cooked food for us, as well as cleaning the house daily and undertaking the laundry. The local food they prepared was superbly fresh and tasty, especially the puddings.

I would wholheartedly recommend Dar Avellana for a holiday, especially if the party consts of a number of children. The facilities are perfect for little ones and they can play to their heart's content in a perfectly safe environment.

We will be returning soon. Hopefully in 2013.
