Great space for family with plenty of room

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family trip. This house was larger than expected based on the photos. We had my parents in the master on the main level, my husband and I in the master on the second level, and my sister and her husband had the other king room with the adjoining jack-n-Jill bathroom with their kids in the room with bunk beds. The extra half bath was a bonus as well as the double laundry facilities. By no means did we ever feel cramped in the house, in fact there was enough room where one could escape (or nap) without being disturbed by others. The kitchen table comfortable fit us all (perfect for game night), the kitchen was stocked with all the basic items, the rug was super soft on toes that hiked many miles, and the late afternoon summer breeze and sprinkles cooled off the house perfectly! We would definitely rent this house again and recommend it to every one staying in Estes Park.

Great mountain home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in Estes Park and were very happy that we chose to rent this home. It's located on the edge of a group of townhouses but stands alone and feels very secluded. We really forgot that there were others close by. The mountain views are stunning, and the house is clean, spacious and comfortable. We had ample room for six adults, two preschoolers and two toddlers. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. There are two washers and dryers, which is a nice luxury. The upstairs family room area is nice, too. The house is within walking distance from the Stanley Hotel and the Estes Park shopping areas--even though the walk back home is very steep and not easy, it is doable and we walked the route several times. Overall, we had no complaints and enjoyed our family vacation immensely.

In a single word, OUTSTANDING!

  • 5 of 5

Well situated to enjoy everything Estes Park and RMNP has to offer. Views, of the Front Range of the Rockies, to include Longs Peak, from the deck were super, and enjoyed wildlife in the area many evenings. Large enough for my wife & I to enjoy our privacy from the kids and grandkids (on the second floor), but well suited for sharing our time together. Could not have had a better location or accommodation anywhere in Estes Park (or probably CO, for that matter). Looking forward to a future return stay.

Great property!

  • 5 of 5

We just stayed at 700 Black Canyon Dr. and it was perfect! Our son was married in Estes so we rented this house for our family and our guests stayed at The Stanley. It's right down the road from The Stanley ( 10 min. walk) and a short walk (15 min.) to town. It's off the main drag and away from all the traffic in town, but yet very close. Perfect location!!

The pictures don't do it justice. It is way bigger than it looks, especially the kitchen/living room area, including the deck. The bedrooms are large and the 2 family room areas are nice for groups with different ages. It's very clean, well maintained, and well equipped with all the kitchen utensils, appliances, dishes, and towels you'd need for a large group. The beds were very comfortable. It has 2 washers and dryers, a large 2 car garage with a small area for a couple other cars to park. It was very quiet and has spectacular views.

The only negative was maybe poor lighting in the baths and bedrooms, and lack of a full length mirror somewhere in the house. We were all getting ready for the wedding, so maybe we were a little more sensitive to that. It was nothing that would ever keep us from renting it again.

Steve, the manager, provided great customer service, and was extremely prompt and helpful with all our questions and needs. I would love to go back to this house and highly recommend it for a rental.

A wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

I don't always write a review, but we had a very different experience than the previous reviewer, so I thought maybe I should give a different perspective. We have stayed in many cabins in and around Estes Park throughout the years, and this possibly was the best ever. This is a beautiful place with high end furnishings. The kitchen was well stocked with a nice set of pots & pans. (Even a well-stocked kitchen may not meet your individual needs--if you are fixing something that requires a certain-sized pan or dish, it can be a good idea to bring your own.) I don't expect the homeowner to provide spices, foil, etc., and consider it a plus if they do. The TV's/DVD player were not the latest & greatest, but they met our needs. One bedroom was a little stuffy during the day but had cooled off nicely before bedtime (plus it was much hotter than normal when we were there). The bedrooms w/king beds are huge (as are the bathrooms) & have ceiling fans & lots of storage. Really nice mattresses & linens & towels. I am not sure how you would add more seating in the living room--we just brought in chairs from the dining table (which seats 10) and sat on pillows on the floor. The deck is a little tight but there are two doors to the deck--one from the living room and one from a bedroom. The people on the bedroom side of the table used that door, the ones on the living room side used the living room door--it worked for us. The view from the deck was beautiful and about as good as it could get--being able to see Long's Peak is always a plus. The location is perfect. It is close to town, but you can get to the park without going through downtown if you use the Fall River Road entrance. We prefer to stay someplace more private and secluded, so I wasn't sure how happy we would be with the location. But considering that the cabin is located in town, in a residential area, and on a corner lot, it was surprisingly quiet and seemed to be very private. I also was concerned about the kids playing outside with a street on two sides. The cabin and yard sit several feet above street level, so that provided kind of a natural barrier, which was nice. And the yard was a lot bigger than I expected from the pictures. The kids had fun running around, throwing pine cones and looking for rocks. Another plus is that we were able to use the garage. We had a great time and are so glad we picked this cabin. We will definitely see about renting it again.

Beautiful home with several flaws

  • 2 of 5

Pro: Beautiful quiet home not far, driving, from downtown or the grocery. Newer furniture in the house. Numerous games provided the family enjoyed. Spacious. Lots of dining space. Adequate glassware and dishes.

Con: No spices, cooking spray, foil or plastic wrap as all the other vrbo homes provided in the past. Coffee filters, paper towels, handsoap, laundry detergent and kitchen trash bags were provided. The required black trash bags weren't provided as stated. The only skillet is medium in size was too small for our family of 6 adults and 2 kids. The vent hood is VERY low and extends several inches beyond the stove top making the stove awkward to use. . Even our daughter who is fairly short bumped her head cooking.

We had NO hot water until rental day 2 at 5:30 PM due to a hot water heater problem. (surprise to us) I was told the owners were aware prior to our check in but didn't let us know. A courtesy call would have been nice. We were told we would be compensated. The master bedroom has panel blinds over the sliding glass doors that are missing several panels. We put a blanket over it at night for privacy. One TV upstairs has no cable hookup so is unusable. The TV in the other bedroom has limited channels. The loft is area is VERY loud downstairs when the TV is on or when the kids are playing. Downstairs living area has seating only for 6, which was small for the 8 of us. Several plugs in one bedroom seem to be not working. The deck furniture is way too big for the deck and you can NOT seat people on both sides of the table at once.

There is no central air, which seems to be common there, but one bedroom in particular was very hot for the people staying there.

I was told this home had just changed owners the day we check in, however, we had rented the home months in advance.

We had to call for Internet wifi user and password. Calls regarding problems were answered promptly but abruptly. The day before we left the Internet didn't work.

Unfortunately I forgot an expensive camera in the master bedroom. I called within a few hours of checkout and was told the cleaning staff reported that it "isn't there". I know it was my fault but had hoped it would be returned to me. Very upsetting regardless.

This is the first vrbo home I have been disappointed in. I may look for a different one next time.

Owner's Response: I am sorry your stay was not satisfactory. We recently purchased the home and had to make some last minute updates such as new furniture etc. The hot water heater went out on the day of our departure and a part had to be ordered. Blinds are on order, they were damaged when we took possession of the house. We searched the home for your camera and could not find it. Once again, I am sorry your stay was a disappointment.
