About the property

Attractive self catering cottage set in a central location

Built in the early 1800s and originally a stable, Beili Stable has a spacious kitchen and sitting room with the original stable brick partition. There are wonderful views from the large window in the sitting room and a stable kitchen door leads on to a private south facing patio. Accommodation is all on the ground floor.

Flooring consists of a natural slate floor in the kitchen, sitting room and hallway with stone flooring in both en suites. Both bedrooms are carpeted.

The master bedroom has a king size bed with en suite with bath and overhead shower. The twin room has a shower en suite.

Original oak beams and underfloor heating add to the charm of the cottage and give an atmosphere of comfort and relaxation.

Pet friendly.

Delightful 'stable' complete with 'manger'!

So comfortable and warm, every need provided for. Perfect to come 'home' to after tramping the mountains and woods. We were so lucky with the weather ) Oct!) with some wonderful morning mists making fantastic photo opportunities. Our hosts could not have been kinder or more obliging - to be honest, that log burner was not really necessary - but visually, such a comfort. Thank you, Cathy and Dave.

Great accomodation set in lovely countryside

  • 5 of 5

We spent a very enjoyable week in this comfortable and well equipped accommodation on a working farm just outside Monmouth. The Welsh border country is lovely with rolling lush countryside, quiet country roads and the Monmow and Wye rivers. If you wish you can easily visit the more rugged Black Mountains to the west and the Forest of Dean to the east but this very special border country and its county town, Monmouth, have plenty to offer.

Our hosts Cathy and Dave were very welcoming and helpful and the accommodation was great - we highly recommend Beili Stable.

Fab Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Beili Stable, Hendre is a fantastic place to stay. The converted barn is warm, cosy and very well equipped. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left Cathy and Dave could not do enough for us, very welcoming and extremely helpful.

We needed to be near Monmouth so this suited us perfectly being 5 miles away, lovely places around to eat and beautiful views.

We have used holiday rentals over the past 5 years and this was one of the best places we have stayed.

We all hope to return one day.

Many thanks

Beili Stable has a 5 star Visit Wales grading and is set in an attractive courtyard on Penylan Farm, originally part of the famous 'Rolls Estate', home of Charles Rolls, co-founder of Rolls Royce.

Penylan (top of the hill) has wonderful views. Walks are available from the farm including our individually designed 'Rolls Circuit' which gives you a real feel for the area. Other walks close by are 'Offa's Dyke' path and 'Three Castles', both approximately 2 miles away.

Just 5 miles from the medieval market town of Monmouth, birth place of Henry V, we are nestled between the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and Black Mountains. Abergavenny is just 20 minutes away and if you continue over the Black Mountains you will reach Hay-on-Wye, famous for its annual literary festival.

Try water sports on the River Wye, recently voted the public's most popular river in England & Wales, or cycle alongside the Wye on the 'Peregrine Trail'.

Very central location for meeting friends and family.
