About Michelle Strong

We are filmmakers, musicians... a creative couple who bought this place as a way to rejuvenate and escape the stresses of the city.

Michelle Strong purchased this house in 2010

Why Michelle Strong chose Inland Empire

Gorgeous remote park like setting. Peace and quiet. Hit the reset button and renew. We also have a sister cabin to this property 1/3 of the mile down the road called Billy Goat Gruff. VRBO#619000. These make great properties for a retreat or a family reunion.

What makes this house unique

You can get away from it all here -- In the winter we enjoy a roaring fire in the wood-burning stove- -- early mornings as the sun rises- -- nights on the observation deck counting shooting stars. Our koi pond makes this an excellent spot for bird watching... owls, hawks, hummingbirds and a family of quail.

Wonderful desert getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was my second time staying here- and it was just as great the second time. I find this to be the perfect getaway. It's so secluded with limited cell reception- which is a huge bonus to me. Everything you need is there at the house. Great art, amazing music selection, patio, observation deck. It's become one of my favorite weekend trips. The house coupled with a day in Joshua Tree- leaves you feeling inspired and refreshed. Can't wait to return next year!

Wow. This Place is Amazing.

  • 5 of 5

The owners were super easy to deal with, the place was easy to find, and the property is very secluded and relaxing. Having the property fenced in with all the trees and the koi pond almost makes you forget you are in a desert. This place has it all. You can have a great time with friends using the BBQ and all the amenities or you can just sit outside and relax as the sounds of the wind and the water from the koi pond mix together. Me and a group of friends do a yearly meetup so picking the right spot is a big deal for us. Everyone could not stop saying how pleased they were with the property. It is very clean inside and has a really good vibe. You can tell the owners actually care about the property and it is not just a money making machine, but it has a really inviting and relaxing energy about it. The house is very large for a 2 bedroom and the rooms seem very wide, which makes it comfortable when you have a larger group. The kitchen was great and had an island to use. Outside is a outdoor couch and sitting area that was awesome. You could easily fall asleep on it. The view from the backyard was unreal. Very wide open views and panoramas and not to mention the star gazing deck takes you up to see the mountains as well. It was very important to us that we found a great place, and we did! That is why I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a solid bet. We will be back again and next time we will be booking more days because it was such a great place and no one wanted to leave. I seriously had some of the best vacation time ever at this place.

Truly magical and off the grid!

  • 5 of 5

We came in early May and were blown away by the natural beauty surrounding us inside and out. This is truly a treasure of a secluded getaway where you can feel like you are surrounded only by nature and escape the big city! A bonus is that the interior decor is super stylish combo of mad men, modern, artsy, super comfy and luxurious. We enjoyed the musical set up, the views from all sides of the house, the koi pond, the look out deck, and much more. Let's just say it was a magical weekend for me, my husband, our 8 year old daughter and dog Amber. Can't say enough good things about the property, the landscape, the proximity to Joshua Tree and Poineertown, and the super helpful owners. Highly recommend -will return as soon as possible!

Perfect Place to Unwind

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. Mark and Michelle made us feel welcome and place exactly as photographed. We were able to spend days exploring, hiking and climbing in Joshua Tree and return comfortable surroundings, put together a good meal and then watch the sunset from the observation deck. We hope to return.

Perfect Desert Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Lovely ranch house, artfully decorated, fenced in property and interior yard, no visible neighbors, in the middle of the Mojave, off of two dirt roads. What more do you need to know. Highly recommended to those who don't mind the relative isolation.

Desert retreat and stargazing

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Goat Pass. We took our two kids, almost 4 and 2, and they loved the house, yard, and night skies. The house was so comfortable with many thoughtful touches. It was easy to cook and enjoy family meals, and there was plenty of space for reading, dancing, playing games and napping. There is a TV too, but we never got around to watching anything. We all loved the koi pond - the kids loved feeding the fish and we loved the peaceful sounds of running water. The location is not far from grocery stores in Landers, and a 20-30 minute drive to Joshua Tree National Park where we had some great hikes. It's also close to the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum and don't miss the Land Art by Andrew Rogers as you're driving down Route 247 from the house to Landers. Thanks Michelle and Mark!
