Riad Shaden is a traditional Moroccan riad, in the medina of Marrakech, an easy 15 minute walk from the famous Place Djemaa al Fna. There are 6 en-suite bedrooms (4 standard double/twin rooms, and 2 suites), with reversible air conditioning and heating, flat screen televisions and safes in all rooms. On the ground floor, as well as a spacious courtyard, there is a large, comfortable living room with CD player. There are additional seating areas in the courtyard.
The riad has a spacious and secluded roof terrace with sunbeds and parasols as well as seating, both covered (shaded from the sun) and uncovered.
We can arrange airport transfers with our own English speaking drivers for a small additional charge, which we highly recommend.
Our staff speak English and French and are available at all times to help you make the most of your stay. They can help with booking excursions, recommending restaurants, and with general advice on making the most of your holiday.
Our English speaking driver can take you on excursions, we have a number of options available, including the Atlas mountains, the coast or the desert.
We can also help you to organise activities, such as golf, camel riding or quad biking.
Breakfast is included in the price and other meals can be ordered on request. Or why not combine dinner with a cookery lesson, and learn how to prepare traditional Moroccan food using only fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
OUR PRICES ARE FOR 2 PEOPLE IN A STANDARD ROOM, BUT WE ALSO RENT THE ENTIRE PROPERTY FOR GROUPS OF UP TO 14 PEOPLE
I live in Edinburgh, but I spend as much time as I can in Marrakech, where I have been holidaying for over 25 years..
Shona Lines purchased this house in 2010
Riad Shaden is my second Moroccan riad. I bought it in 2010, after looking at many properties in the medina. I loved it on first sight and hope that you will too. It is in a traditional area of the medina where local people go about their daily lives, but it is only a short walk from Djemaa al Fna, the souks and all the tourist attractions.
Riad Shaden is my second home, I love the building and the location. The rooms are all different but decorated in traditional Moroccan style, and I never tire of sitting on the roof terrace in the evening listening to the call to prayer and watching the storks flying overhead back to their nests.
We had a wonderful 4 days at Riad Shaden, the 5 charming staff looked after us quite beautifully. Really an oasis in the midst of residential old town Marrakech, lovely carved ceiling in our beautiful double room and bath too. Also not at all expensive.
They booked restaurants, arranged an excellent trip to the Atlas mountains and organised a cookery lesson, all in all fabulous.
Would return if going back to Marrakech.
My daughter and I stayed here for over a week and had a wonderful time. The staff is very helpful with anything you need. They set up appointments at the spa, got someone to help us with our luggage on departure. Pick up and drop off to and from the airport and breakfast every morning when we got up. I would recommend them to anyone that is going to be staying in the Medina. It's a little distance from the main square but you get to experience and discover more of the true Medina that way. I would have no problem staying here again.
I organised a trip for my sisters 50th birthday, there were 15 middle aged females and we had the whole Riad to ourselves. We arrived late and were a little disheartened when we had to walk down a couple of narrow alleys, however when we arrived at Riad Shaden the walk was well worth it!! What a beautiful tranquil place to stay.
The Riad was clean and very well maintained. The staff were always at hand and nothing was a problem for them. We were very well looked after, the service was second to none and I would like to add that as the organiser I looked at many Riads before choosing Riad Shaden, I couldnt have asked for a better place. I'm still amazed at how easy it was to organise a celebration meal, flowers and a birthday cake from the comfort of my home, all thanks to Shona.
If your looking for comfort, good food and a central location at a very good price then this is the place for you.
Nice place to stay, conveniently located in the Medina of Marrakech, and with extremely nice and serviceable management
We only stayed one night and wished we had more time to enjoy the riad.
The staff was great and very helpful, booking was very easy (we contacted the owner directly after exchanging a couple of emails as it is always safer to do so).
After a busy day, we decided to stay in for dinner, the tajine was awesome.
The ammenities were as expected and described, well maintained, clean and beautiful deco.
The terrace is beautiful and very relaxing.
The location is great, walking distance to Jemaa el fna through the heart of the medina.
Couple of tips :
- we couldn't get in touch with the staff when we got to the airport (my bad, my phone was not working), we still found someone to walk us with our bags to the riad from Bab Aylen's gate of the medina for a couple of dirhams.
- we brought with us a nice bottle of moroccan wine for the dinner, definitely worth it.
Riad Shaden is situated in a traditional district of the medina, away from the hustle and bustle, but with easy access to the famous Place Djemaa al Fna, the souks, cafes and restaurants. Within easy reach of all the major tourist attractions, including the Majorelle Gardens, Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Medersa and the Museum of Marrakech. Enjoy a trip round the city walls in a horse drawn caleche, visit a traditional hammam, or simply wander round the narrow maze of streets, shopping in the souks. By day the Place Djemaa al Fna is occupied by snake charmers, and at night it comes alive, with food stalls, entertainers, acrobats and much more.
Why not let us help to organise your stay? We can do all the hard work for you, by organising:
- day trips and overnight excursions
- camel riding, quad biking etc
- cookery lessons
- hammam and spa treatments
- restaurant bookings
- in house celebration dinners and parties
