Beautifully decorated, cosy apartment with easy access to all London sights

This extremely spacious, very quiet and unusual apartment has the feeling of a home and not just accommodation to be rented out. The colours are rich and sumptuous and it is furnished with traditional English antiques. It is a flat with loads of character! The rooms are large and the feeling of calm and space that the flat offers is a welcome relief after a busy day’s sightseeing. A former guest described it as an 'oasis'!

The tube station is a five minute walk away (both Piccadilly & District Lines). Excellent groceries, many restaurants and pubs and other necessary shops just around the corner.

The apartment is on the Lower Ground Floor. The access from the street is down 10 steps to its own front door.

Once inside, a passage leads to an area with desk, and to the cosy living room which, in turn, leads to a glass conservatory used as a dining room and beyond which is the charming garden where one can dine in the summer months (table for 4 people). One of the two bedrooms is at the back of the apartment looking at the garden and is exceptionally quiet. It has its ensuite bathroom (shower). The second bedroom is at the front of the flat, also quiet, and has big bay windows facing south – its bathroom (bathtub) is across the passage.. Both these bedrooms have queen size double beds (5ft or 160cm), and there is also an additional full size single bed, if needed, in the second bedroom. The beds are very comfortable, and made up with crisp white Egyptian cotton bedlinen. A good night's sleep is assured! The single bed that we can add to the front bedroom is a normal size (90cm) and comfortable. The kitchen is small but very well equipped with everything (dishwasher/microwave/4 burner stove and full size oven/fridge with separate freezer compartment plus lots of pots pans knives etc). We leave the essentials: salt, pepper, tea coffee, sugar, milk and many other items left by previous guests.. For coffee: either an Italian moka coffee pot (expresso) or a French press pot.

There is excellent security, strong Wi-Fi, 32 inch flat screen TV with many channels.

Hand & shower soap, toilet paper; hairdryer provided.

Heathrow Airport is a 40 minute ride from all terminals direct to Earls Court on the Piccadilly line. Very stress free arrival!

Heathrow is 30-40 minutes by road and it is possible (via Google) to pre-book a minicab to be waiting at arrivals.

Gatwick Airport. The Gatwick Express goes to Victoria Station in central London. Then from Victoria the District line to Earls Court is just 4 stops. Followed by about 5-6 min walk to flat from Earls Court tube station. The EasyJet bus goes from Gatwick to central London, with a stop just around the corner from the apartment. A very inexpensive and easy option.

KingsCross/St Pancras is the station for taking the Eurostar to Europe. The station is on the Piccadilly line, direct from Earls Court. Again easy access to leave or arrive from or to my flat.

We leave lots of info in the apartment but a few favourites:

South Kensington (Natural History Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, Science Museum) is a short bus ride, or two stops on the tube.

Knightsbridge (Harrods) is 3 stops. Piccadilly, West End theatres, Soho, etc is a fifteen minute tube journey on the Piccadilly line.

Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and South Bank activities are about a twenty minute ride on the District Line.

Tower of London a bit further.

Wimbledon is a direct tube ride on the district line, excellent for tennis lovers.

I am English but I live in Italy, so it was important to me to have a home in the U.K. I have 3 children and 2 grandchildren and I also wanted them to have somewhere to stay in London from time to time.

Why Dinah Voisin chose Earls Court

I wanted a flat in central London so it would be easy to get everywhere. I loved the space this apartment offered and the fact that there was a little patio garden. I also liked having my own front door and not having to go through a communal building. It is lower ground floor and I was able to get permission to build a conservatory at the back of the apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

I then decorated the flat in rich strong colours to make up for the fact that it does not have a lot of light in the centre of the flat. It runs the entire width of the building so the light is okay at either end and the colours really give it warmth and originality. I have lovely antique furniture and I feel very at home when I am staying there. I hope my guests will feel the same way!

We truly loved the apartment it was perfect for the 4 of us. Our family agreed it was one of the smartest decisions we made to stay there. It was so charming and comfortable; a great place to unwind at the end of the day. We had plenty of room to relax - tea and shortbread cookies before bed became routine for the week. The location was also terrific, very convenient to the tube, plenty of places to eat or buy groceries. We loved London!

  • One bedroom is situated at the back of the flat and is therefore extremely quiet - you could imagine you were in the country and not in the centre of London! It has its ensuite bathroom with shower. The other bedroom is very spacious and faces south. It has its own bathroom across the passage, with bathtub. There is a foldaway normal size comfortable single bed (90cm x 190cm) which can also go into this bedroom, should there be two people who would rather have separate beds. We prefer to have a maximum of 4 people stay in the apartment.

Home Away from Home

This was our second stay at Earl's Court. The flat was perfect for four people. Mary Bee meet us on the first day and was available when there was a plumbing leak. The area is a perfect place to stay, we brought fresh eggs and honey at the neighborhood Farmer's Market, ate at the local restaurants and pubs and had easy access to the Underground.

We spent 9 days here. A marvelous apartment. The owner was diligent in that we had to text her from the train as we could not get the phone working. She replied immediately and Mary was there when we arrived. The place was clean; beautifully decorated; beds very comfortable; kitchen well equipped. We loved the glassed in solarium . dining room, Transportation anywhere was extremely easy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

A great place to stay and tour London

We loved our flat at Earls Court. The location was ideal in that it was a short walk to the Tube. When we were done for the day we could sit back, relax and share wine and great food as we reminisced about our wonderful day in London. The flat was well appointed and quite comfortable. We hope to have the pleasure of staying here again!

Fabulous Flat for a Family

A perfect flat! We had the BEST experience. The location is so central to everything - with the tube station right around the corner, we were able to go everywhere! And when we came home exhausted from sightseeing at the end of the day, there was a wonderful selection of pubs and restaurants both directions out of the tube station.

The flat is delightful - full of charm and antiques. It was a treat to have two bathrooms - the kids (8 & 11) shared the spacious front room (with a comfortable cot so they did not have to share the queen bed) and front bath, and we adults could sleep in a bit in the quiet back bedroom by the garden. The family room was comfortable for the few minutes of catching up on the news at night, and the kitchen was perfect for keeping snacks. Cooking would be easy, though with all the great restaurants and a coffee shop right next to the tube station, we took advantage of being on vacation and didn't cook much.

We appreciated the ease of booking - Dinah was responsive and her manager and cleaning team were top-notch. Also, they were very flexible - we were able to leave our bags on the first day while they were getting things in order. Everything was spotless and we really appreciated the flexibility that allowed us to get on with our London visit!

We can't wait to go back and would book Dinah's place again in a heartbeat.

P.S. If you're a Dr. Who fan, you'll love this location! My son sure did. :)

Great location and neighborhood.

Owners should have mentioned this is a basement apartment. Very dark. Extreme bad smell. Either sewer leak or cat pee. But certainly met our needs for a week.

Owner's Response: I am so very sorry that you had the bad smell. The council had been doing works all down the street in front of house and broke a sewer pipe. All mended now but the smell remained for a few weeks unfortunately. I am so sorry this happened during your visit and thank goodness the smell has now completely disappeared. I do say that the flat is lower ground floor and I am sorry you found it too dark. Luckily the flat runs the whole width of the building thus has light at front and back and I made the conservatory so as to have a lot of light in one room. Our apologies again for the smell that you had to put up with.

Car: not necessary

A very quiet residential area, the prestigious Earls Court Square, is extraordinarily convenient for a visitor to London. We are minutes away from the closest underground (tube) station, Earls Court, which is on both the District and Picadilly lines thus offering very quick access to all the main London Tourist attractions and the West End with its theatres, shopping etc. There are also plenty of buses.

Around the corner from the flat, in Earls Court Road, you find all manner of food shops (a Marks & Spencer small supermarket is minutes away and open until 11pm with excellent ready made dishes as well as groceries, fruit, veg, etc. Pharmacies including a Boots, Rymans for stationary, 2 banks, laundry, Oddbins for wine. Also there are plenty of restaurants (French, Italian, Indian, Moroccan, hamburgers etc), cafes, many pubs and takeaways.

We are also just 7 stops from Wimbledon for the famous tennis tournament (District Line, no change needed and trains leave every four minutes).

Earls Court Exhibition Centre is a five minute walk from the apartment.

The Olympia Exhibition Centre is a short bus ride away.

By tube: two stops away on the Piccadilly line, less than ten minutes, is South Kensington (Natural History Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum). Three stops finds you in Knightsbridge (Harrods). Green Park (5 stops) for the Changing of the Guard, Piccadilly is 6 stops on tube for 'West End' attractions: Soho, theatres, etc. The District line takes you to Westminster for the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, the South Bank. From Westminster Pier you can take a boat up the Thames to the Tower of London by Tower bridge. This is a favourite trip of mine when I show friends around London. The river boats are to the river what buses are to the road and stop at various places all the way up the Thames. On a fine day this makes a great visit.
