Reasons to rent this house:
1) Its directly on Cayuga Lake with amazing views from the deck and dock, near wineries, and also only 5 minutes from downtown Ithaca restaurants and shopping, and less than 15 min. from the colleges.
2) It is completely renovated, modern and well built. The furniture is beautiful and new.
3) You can drive almost to do the front door, no major staircase to the house (as is common on Cayuga Lake). However, you must be able bodied and sure-footed. There is a path with a series of concrete steps.
4) There are 2.5 bathrooms, all with new glass tiles and beautiful details.
5) Two kayaks on the property, a canoe, private dock.
6) The house is big enough for two families to share. We have 3 bedrooms and a bonus room (with sleeper sofa), plus a sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress in the living room. We allow up to 10 adults and an additional 4 children, for a total of 14 guests.
Who Can Rent:
House is not appropriate for loud/late night parties. Also, sorry, the house is not handicapped accessible.
We are an Ithaca family of five. We lived on Cayuga Lake at our other listing, 887 Taughannock until our youngest was born. That property has been a vacation rental for 5 years. We just purchased 907 Taughannock because it is absolutely magnificent.
Carolyn Greenwald purchased this house in 2013
Our other rental house 887 is extremely nice by lake front standards, but this house, 907 Taughannock is nice by any standards. Everything is gorgeous, from the floors, to the windows, to the furniture, to the bathrooms. Even my parents will gladly stay at this house and they are some tough customers.
Lakefront living with zero sacrifice. Good access. Private dock and private deck. Large bedrooms, luxurious furnishings, gorgeous bathrooms. In the Town of Ithaca, min. from downtown and the colleges, also near the wineries, and state parks.
Beautiful home in a beautiful location! Perfect for a family group. Beds are comfortable for most part(sofa bed needs a comfy cover). Big space and great kitchen. Close to breweries and great skiing/tubing at Greek Peak. Owner is great to deal with. Absolutely recommend for those who want to relax and enjoy the scenery and all the Finger Lakes have to offer
We stayed here for 4 nights. The view is amazing. Located 2 miles from the town of Ithaca. We visited for the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail Holiday Shopping Spree. The house is close to the wineries. This was my first time renting VRBO. I was not disappointed. I would rent this house again.
This property as an AMAZING lake view. The property is spacious and really has 4 bedrooms. We were a party of 8 adults and 2 children, and we were VERY comfortable. The place was very clean upon arrival.
Conveniently located and spacious home. Loved having canoes available. Stairs a little difficult for Grandma's arthritic knees, but we managed.
This was the perfect spot to relax and explore. We had two families (4 adults and 4 children under the age of 11) and everyone had a wonderful time. We enjoyed fishing, kayaking, cooking, and spending time on the porch overlooking Cayuga Lake. As an Ithaca College alumnus, I enjoyed reconnecting with Ithaca in a different way from my days as a college student. The location of this house is perfect because you’re only a 3-minute drive from downtown Ithaca. We were just minutes away from The Commons, College Town, Purity Ice Cream, Ithaca Bakery, Buttermilk Falls, and the farmer’s market.
Carolyn made sure the house was clean upon arrival. We had no complaints whatsoever with the condition of the house.
It should be noted there are a lot of steps leading from the road and house to the lake. If you’re in good physical condition, this is the perfect place to enjoy all of the amenities that Cayuga Lake and Ithaca have to offer.
There were 7 of us - 4 adults and 14, 11 and 5 year olds. We chose Ithaca and Cayuga Lake as my son had attended Cornell and we wanted to return to his old "stomping grounds". EVERYONE had a super time. The open living area was great for gathering everyone together, but there were plenty of areas for everyone to have their own private space for reading and naps. All the living areas and the back deck overlooked the lake. Unfortunately I had to do some work, but I set up on the breakfast table overlooking the lake - what a way to work! A lot of time was spent at the dock. The kayaks and canoe were a bit hit and some tried fishing, but unfortunately, no luck! The location was a definite plus. So close to town, but yet so private. We made daily trips in to Ithaca and even a couple of late night runs to Purity for ice cream and Wegmans! We thought we would eat out more, but it was a treat to take turns fixing meals and dining with a water view - better atmosphere than any restaurant! I would highly recommend that if you are visiting the Finger Lakes to stay here. You are close to everything, but the Ithaca area is not overrun by tourists. Thanks, Carolyn!
House is located in the town of Ithaca, yet a world apart. Close access to Cornell University, Ithaca College, Downtown Ithaca supermarkets and shopping, plus its in Wine Country for Wine Tours of The Finger Lakes.
