Villa Poletti is owned by the same family since late 1800s and recently updated. We were born and raised in Bellagio and are very happy to share all we know about Bellagio and its neighborhood. Once the reservation is confirmed we will send you a Welcome Letter with helpful information such as restaurant recommendations, places to visit, various fun activities which will make your vacation a memorable one. In addition we offer Chef, babysitting, maid and concierge services upon request. We can customize your experience from a culinary tour to a fishing experience.
Karin purchased this Villa in 1800
Why Karin chose Bellagio
The villa is very elegant. It has the beauty of being an historical villa with all the modern comforts. It is well furnished with beautiful antiques, has high ceilings and beautiful large and spacious rooms. The location is stunning. Outside of the busy center of Bellagio but close to the peaceful small village of S.Giovanni (3 minutes by walking distance) where there is the Villa's boat dock, restaurant, small boutique grocer, coffee shop and wine bar and just 3 minutes to downtown Bellagio by car.
What makes this Villa unique
The beautiful porch over viewing the lake is magical. As soon as you arrive you find peace, nature and historical beauties. The Villa has a private dock just three minutes walking distance so that you can enjoy renting your boat and are able to dock it just a few steps from the Villa. Near the villa depart scenic trails with lovely walks that can take you to the summit of Mount St. First in order to fully appreciate the spectacle of the three branches of Lake Como and the newly discovered caves.

Excellent accommodations, perfect stay
Loved the location, view and everything about the stay. One of the best views from the balcony anywhere. A walk towards the water reveals all the charming nuances of Italian life. Comfortable, charming, loved it.
Elegant and peaceful with soothing evening views!
We had a wonderful and restful stay and enjoyed our almost daily walks for lunch to either S.Giovanni or downtown. The evening views from this villa are magical, with different hues of blue emanating from the lake, the mountains, and the sky, with Villa Carlotta and the Grand Hotel elegantly lit facades right across the lake. This made dinners on the peaceful garden terrace our most cherished moments.
The bus stop outside the villa's gate came in handy for shopping sprees in Como!
Grazie Marco! We appreciate the kind review and look forward to you and your family's return visit!
Lovely house with Fantastic views
We had a wonderful time at this property and loved sitting on the patio and watching the lake. There was ample space for 4 couples and everything was in good repair. The beds were comfortable and much of the furniture was conveniently located with good lighting and plumbing ( we've stayed throughout Italy and this is NOT a given.) There were lots of thoughtful touches and Monika the caretaker was very helpful. The 3rd floor/ penthouse was a bit of a problem because of the eaves. You must be very careful or you'll hit your head. There was not a good reading light up there and another mirror( beside the one in the bathroom) would be welcome. As others have mentioned the driveway is hard to pull out of and the streets are narrow and dangerous. There are paths and stairs all over that are fun to walk on if you're in good shape or part mountain goat. This was the best way to get to nearby restaurants, grocery store or the ferry. We had fantastic meals in Como, Bellagio, Varenna and nearby San Giovanni but found lunch was a better choice with the ferry schedules than dinner was. Overall, a wonderfully relaxing vacation with friends and family.
Classy villa with phenomenal views
The villa has phenomenal soothing views from most rooms, from the large grassy terrace, and from the terraced garden. The ability to pick apples from the trees in the garden complemented well the kitchen amenities that welcomed us on arrival, including the Prosecco that followed us on the garden stroll. And the Etro bathrooms amenities facilitated further a memorable feeling of "la dolce vita!" We also found the location to be a great compromise between the hustle and bustle of downtown Bellagio while still remaining in walking distance from the center (about one mile). There is a bus stop outside the main gate with service to the city of Como in one direction and downtown bellagio on the other. We hope to return in the near future and reconnect with the wonderful people we met in this idyllic part of Italy. .
Lovely house, Limited outdoor lounging space facing the lake.
The Villa is quite beautiful. Are you should know that there is a limited amount of outdoor space facing the lake. The main road is right out the front door, so you will deal with traffic noise all day and into the evening. As is fairly typical for the area, walking on the road can be scary for non Italians. The time to learn the ferry schedule and the train schedule from San Giovanni. Local taxi service, like pretty much all local service, it's high-quality and very friendly. We had an excellent time.
most relaxing views ever!
I had a wonderful stay at Villa Poletti. The check in was smooth and they even allow us to do an earlier check in, which was great. I was welcomed by a bottle of Prosecco, fresh fruit and some kitchen essentials. Loved the coffee they carry! The villa has unbelievable views of Lake Como. The Location over towering the town below of San Giovanni makes it so relaxing to hang in the indoor-outdoor living room. The villa is about 20-30 minute walk to downtown and at check in Monika explained to us all the scenic routes to take to go safely to Bellagio downtown without having to go all the way through the main road. I am looking forward to going back!
Villa Poletti is a magnificent home located in Bellagio with breathtaking views of the most beautiful part of Lake Como. It towers over the small hamlet of San Giovanni with its quaint harbor, boat landing, pebble beaches, historical church, restaurant, grocer and a small post office. Relax and enjoy the historical villa across the lake from almost everywhere on the property, including the grassy living room balcony and the terraced fruit-tree garden. The villa is located just 3 minutes by car to downtown Bellagio. If you are in the mood to explore you may walk 15 minutes to visit the amazing gardens of Villa Melzi or take a half hour stroll to downtown Bellagio.
