We stayed for two weeks at the end of August and this had to be our best vacation yet.
The pool was great; clean and warm. My young children learned how to swim using the pool during this stay. Now, how cool is that?
I loved fishing from the dock while watching manatees and dolphins come in and out of the canal. The sunsets and sunrises over the water are just stunning. They make great screensavers for my phone.
The beaches are all close by. Manasota Key beach is only 5 minutes away and is the best place to look for the shark teeth. The famous Siesta Key beach in Sarasota is only 30 minutes away and there are 6 or so other great beaches in between. One of our favorites is the Gasparilla Island with it's beautiful views and secluded beaches. We found a ton of sand dollars there this year.
We drove out to Orlando and to Ichetucknee Springs State Park where we tubed down a crystal clear river while watching turtles, fish jumping and other Florida wildlife.
What can I say? This property in Englewood is our favorite spot to spend a summer vacation. It is convenient, meticulously maintained and super clean. It is nice enough to just stay there and not go anywhere. Our family can't wait to go there again.
Englewood has lots of entertainment and restaurants. There are 'Drum Circles' on Englewood Beach on Sunday nights - enjoy people watching, trying your own drums, watching the sun set over the gulf. There is 'Bluegrass Music in the Park' on Monday nights (during the winter season) - bring your chairs and enjoy sitting under old live oaks while watching the sun go down over the water, listening to some great music.
It's an easy 10 min drive up to Venice. Venice beaches include conservation parks, bird sanctuaries, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and biking trails Venice's quaint, tree-lined downtown is famous for its art galleries, antique stores, restaurants, clothing stores and theatre.
Take day trips to Busch Gardens, Disney and Universal Studios for a change of scenery.
