About Kathy Nichols

My husband and I vacationed in Belize and left with more than our suitcases! We went for a golf cart ride over the bridge, ran into a puddle too deep to cross, turned around and found a condo unit for sale. We call it our 'lucky puddle' when it appears during the rainy days!

Kathy Nichols purchased this condo in 2007

Why Kathy Nichols chose Ambergris Caye

Enjoy the 2nd floor views from a spacious patio. Open the oversized patio doors and all the windows and hang on to your sheets in your master bedroom on a king memory foam bed. The 2nd bedroom has a queen memory foam bed--it has a window, but your blankets will stay put! Or just use the AC. Our condo is part of a small 12 unit complex. It is 2.5 miles north of town on a quiet area of beach. The palapa at the end of the pier is perfect for watching the day go by, catch the ferry to town, or to try catching that fish for supper.

For a second year in a row, Ambergris Caye is the ‘#1 Island in the World,2014 Travellers’ Choice Islands Award. Ambergris Caye beat out destinations such as Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, Bora Bora in the Society Islands, and even Marco Island in Florida, for the coveted title

Great vacation! Great condo!

  • 5 of 5

Kathy's condo was perfect for the four of us and was excellent value for money. The view from the balcony is stunning. She provided lots of useful info including a golf cart rental company with which she had negotiated a 20% discount for her renters. Everything is easily accessible by golf cart including a good selection of restaurants - and San Pedro is only 10-15 minutes away. There is a beach bar right next to the condo - great for a pre-dinner drink. On the first night, we found a wonderful outdoor restaurant just a few steps south along the beach (I think it's called Aji's). Try the paella!

The only thing missing was four wine glasses for the night we ate in - but no big deal. It still deserves a 5-star rating!

What were we waiting for!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from Kathy's Belize condo and had a great time there. The condo was excellent and the location worked perfect for us. After driving and shopping in San Pedro we all agreed that we were glad not to be in town.

The best part of the trip was meeting John Murray through a referral by Diego, one of the two groundskeepers at the condo. John took us (myself , my wife and our seventeen year old granddaughter) on a private fishing/snorkeling trip. We were so impressed with his service we went again two days later. John filleted the fish we caught and we made two meals from them. The snorkeling was the best we have experienced in twenty years. Sharks, rays, manatees, barracudas and so many more.

The only negative is the sand flies or whatever it is that bites. We could not find any bug killer just repellant and that doesn't help after the bites. So anybody who reads this be warned bring killer along with baby oil. The locals say that's all that keeps them away. Maybe even something that tames the bites after the fact.

Great place Kathy. By the way, one of the larger fins is missing and the other one has a broken strap. We brought our own but my wife liked your little short ones. Looks like we will be going shopping before the next snorkel adventure. Take care and Thanks

Owner's Response: Sounds like you had fun. I will need to change my ad and booking letter to say Bring Your Own Snorkel Gear! I have been unable to keep good gear in working order and am never informed when a piece is lost or broken. Thank you so much for telling me. I so appreciate knowing the bad along with the good. The fishing guide you referred to, is his name and number on my local information list? Private tours are the best.

Slow and easy... Will force you to unplug and remember life before all the distractions. 😎

Property is excellent, staff is knowledgeable and very helpful, and locals are very nice. We had the good fortune of having trade winds all week which we are told is rare. Our stay was mid June for a week and on the day we were leaving the wind died and the mosquitos emerged. Peak season here is winter so we were pleased the vacation Gods smiled on us. This property was great and a great deal when compared to US Gulf condo's. We all want to come back soon!

Perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Ambergris Caye and we lucked out...this condo is in the perfect spot! 11/2 miles to town on the new road so it's quiet yet close enough to walk or bike to town. We rented a golf cart since one of us had a knee replaced recently and that was a good idea as we went to Secret beach twice and into town nightly for great dinners. The condo is spacious and clean and has everything you need. Diego and Byron are a very helpful maintenance crew and there is 24 HR security although it seems to be a very safe area. I ran in the mornings along the road and never had any issues. We used the kayaks to snorkel on the reef which was very nice. Unfortunately the wind picked up and we weren't able to take longer snorkel trips...maybe next time! Kathy was a very helpful owner and answered all of my questions quickly. Armando picked us up at the airport and gave us good advice on our way to the condo. The bikes and kayaks are a wonderful addition here. Great eats in town, Hungry Grouper, Robins kitchen, etc...and you must try the cinnamon bread from the Casa pan dulce...and the coconut pastries and probably everything! We found the best breakfast burritos at El buen tacos which is a little shack across the bridge diagonal from the bakery.$3 us for a giant ham, egg, veggies burrito...feeds two. I would recommend this condo to everyone. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!
