A Stones Throw From East Beach And Dog Friendly.
Why Dian Willhoite chose Ocean Springs
This is a Carroll B. Ishee house - designed by the noted Gulf Coast architect. It is a Japanese style cottage with decks on three sides. It is located in a cul de sac in a secluded part of Ocean Springs. It has an open floor plan, with large bay windows on the wooded side of the house.
What makes this Cottage unique
Many people enjoy the wildlife that is visible from the house. Birds, rabbits, raccoon, and of course turtles make there appearance on a daily basis. There is a bald eagle nest within one thousand yards of the house. Numerous seabirds and coastal birds are in evidence on any normal day from the bayous, beach, and estuaries nearby. Dolphin sightings from the beach are reasonably common.

A secluded hidden gem
As this was our first stay in a VRBO - we really didn't know what to expect. Dian (and property manager, Christina) were very patient and prompt in answering all of our "newbie" questions. Upon arrival to the Turtle House, we first noticed how secluded it is even though it is in a neighborhood. The deck was the first thing that caught our eye - it was amazing; this is where we spent the majority of the time. It almost had that "mountain feel" with all the trees around and the wildlife moving in the woods. The house was clean and perfectly suited our needs and had everything we needed for your stay. The bed in the master bedroom was comfortable with as many pillows and blankets you would need. Our friend slept on the couch which was also comfortable. I loved the ceiling fans in every room, it kept it nice and cool. Breakfast and coffee on the porch became our morning routine. We would absolutely stay here again!
Good location to bike from
Quick access to the beach and state park from the house.
The house is beautiful and well supplied. It was lovely watching the thunderstorm on Sunday afternoon through the large windows. We had a wonderful gathering Sunday evening and were able to cook and eat and play games. I will come again should I come to the coast.
Amazing little Hideaway
Fantastic little vacation rental in Ocean Springs very clean, and a great place to hide away from the world and relax. The owner was very friendly and communicative and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable.
Had a great time with my family.
Love the Turtle house theme
Enjoyed our stay here, overall the house was nice roomy and very pleasant and peaceful, needed some cobweb cleaning on the ceilings and dusting on awnings and around on pictures that were hanging, great kitchen able to cook the few entrees for the family reunion we were attending, couldn’t get the bbqing done due to the grill at the house was very dirty and had massive amounts of water bugs everywhere when I went to uncover it so I had to make some others arrangements , also the washing machine whenever it goes into the spinning cycle it agitates very loud and so loud and hard the machine comes out and away from the wall where it sits, scared us but other than that it was a nice place to stay would love to rent again if in the area. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to rent your home.
The Turtle House on Gum Street is a unique property designed by Carroll B. Ishee. The house is hidden away in old Ocean Springs. It is built of glass and wood to bring nature inside. We particularly like to have people with dogs. The house has a series of terraces and a yard that dogs enjoy which are all separately enclosed for their safety. The house has two bedrooms and two baths. It sleeps six - this includes two bunkbeds and one queen size bed. The baths have Jacuzzi tubs that are wonderful. There is plenty of safe parking. Car show enthusiasts will note that there is roll in access to the gated yard and room for several cars. You will find it quiet and joyous.
