The Terrace-Maisonette Penthouse is an apartment of 2 floors with wonderful view to both sides of the city. The front window in the upper floor creates a wonderful living atmosphere in combination with terraces.
The apartment is located in the city center of central Munich just a few minutes walk from Central Station, Marienplatz and Oktoberfest. Its neighborhood is a quite residential area known for numerous traditional beer breweries, namely Löwenbräu and Augustiner, one of the most famous (and best) beers in Germany.
My friends and I (group of 7) had a great time here! The place was big enough for us all to hang out upstairs and eat meals together, and the location was perfect! Across the street from a grocery store, down the road from Lowenbrau (which we frequented a few times), and close to multiple subway stations. It was super easy for us to explore Munich from here, and had great views from the balcony. The hosts were also very accommodating - flexible with our check-in/check-out times, and even helped retrieve an item that we left in the apartment. I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling to Munich, especially large groups who are planning to explore the city.
The apartment is set on two levels with entrance, two double bedrooms and two bathrooms on the lower level, large living area, double bedroom, kitchen and two terraces on the upper. It was very clean and comfortable with good wifi and excellent showers.
There are supermarkets, coffee shops and a good choice of restaurants nearby as well as a beer keller on the corner and it is very close to the U-Bahn just a single stop to the Hauptbahnhof - all very convenient for getting about or staying local.
We had no problems whatsoever during our stay from check in to departure, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Munich and intend to use the apartment again next year.
Our experience was the complete opposite of the previous review. We arrived early on a rainy morning, knowing the apartment wouldn't be available for check-in until the afternoon, stowed our luggage at the train station and wandered around in the rain. When the time arrived we were met by the lovely Kirsten (from Tennessee) and the apartment was perfect. Throughout the rental process, all of my many questions were answered promptly and patiently. All expectations, rules, and procedures are clearly stated and everything was handled very professionally. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Munich! Highly recommended!
This apartment is close to the tram, main train station and the Lowenbrau Keller. It is easy to get around Munich from here. Security is good , nice neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and a grocery store across the street. All was well until our plane was delayed one hour. Even though I emailed the owner about the delay, we were treated rudely by the agent who lets you in. He barked at me on the phone that we were late. A large, muscular man, he just watched as a grandmother and two young boys dragged in all the luggage. Certainly not his job but... He seemed very annoyed and hurried through the instructions for the machines and expectations. Then he insisted on a two hour late fee. I argued that we had paid all the fees upfront, that we arrived at the time I told him on the phone, and that our delay was only one hour and unavoidable. But he insisted. We had only a limited amount of currency and he kept arguing that we were late. At my insistence he tried to call the owner and said she didn't answer. Finally he told us to just give him what we had with us. Sure felt like a shakedown. Further, he never showed us a huge cracked window in a bedroom. I emailed the owner as now I felt my security deposit was threatened. She did not answer for 3 days until I emailed her again and even then did not say they knew about the window. The place has seen better days - weeds growing all over the wood terrace, old weather beaten patio furniture, weeds in the patio pots, stains on couches, etc. I did get my security deposit back so that issue was resolved. Try somewhere else.
We enjoyed our recent five night stay at this apartment for our group of six. The place was clean when we arrived and the photos and description were accurate. The neighborhood is clean and safe, and a key is required to access the building, so it is quite secure. The building is in a convenient location to the tram so that you can access about anywhere in the city via tram or train. The unit is a couple of tram stops away from Munich's central train station. There is a grocery store conveniently located across the street and there are some restaurants within a short walk. The Lowenbrau beer garden and restaurant is located at the end of the block for easy access to traditional German food and beer! We took advantage of this as a way to end our busy days a few times during our stay.
The reservation process and communication went fairly smooth. Be sure to call at least 30 minutes prior to your arrival so the person meeting you to check you in has time to get there. This will be provided in the check-in information. We would stay here again if we travel back to Munich.
The museum district is in 5 minute walking distance.
