We purchased the farm in 2000 when it was nothing but a beautiful piece of land, but almost 10 acres of it was covered with Kudzu! The Kudzu is gone and it is spectacular now. Being an interior designer, I designed the plans and had our house and barn built. We lived in Big Canoe for 8 years and then moved to the farm to raise our children and make fabulous memories. (we are property owners in Big Canoe, presently) Our family has enjoyed having our daughter's rehearsal dinner here, graduation parties for our kids when they finished college. We have enjoyed hosting our family on several occasions for family reunions. It was perfect because they were able to rent homes in Big Canoe and then come to our place for the festivities. It is now where we gather when our children, their spouses and grandchildren are in town and make even more memories together! It is a special place indeed.
Lynda Tatum purchased this barn in 2000
The view is spectacular, the weather usually mild, and what a unique place it is . From parties to cookouts to family reunions and weddings, the barn has become a part of our family and represent fun, warmth, love and hospitality. We feel so excited about the opportunity to extend these things from our family to yours. We hope your memories here will be wonderful!
A custom outdoor fireplace, fire pit and smoker that makes the outside a wonderful place to entertain, and the long range views are breathtaking. Having 75 acres to call your home for a few days is a special treat. Big Canoe is next door so that if you are having more guests than my farm will accommodate, homes can be rented in Big Canoe. You will just fall in love with the area. The scenic backdrop of the long range views are perfect for your wedding or other special event. Please call Debbie Ley if you are interested in information and pricing for special events. Her number is 770-862-3537. She will help you with any need you will have to make your special event spectacular!
Our family stayed on the property during our son's wedding weekend in July. We also hosted the rehearsal dinner in the barn on the property. What a wonderful place to stay. Part of our family stayed in the cottage and the rest of us stayed in the barn. Everything was provided for us. We couldn't have asked for a better family reunion weekend. We loved the fire pit and spent the evenings sitting around the fire, making s'mores and watching the stars. It was very quiet and peaceful. Our family is still talking about the wonderful weekend, and we would love to return. Highly recommend this property. You won't be disappointed!
Even though our farm is 75 acres, we are located adjacent to Big Canoe which is a large mountain community. Please be a good neighbor and keep noise down outside and after 10:30pm music needs to stop.
If you enjoy eating out, there are several outstanding restaurants close by:
There is a great ice cream shop at the North Station on Steve Tate Highway. Home Restaurant: it is a farm to table restaurant and a more upscale. You can make reservations, but it is not necessary.
At the Intersection of Steve Tate and HWY 53 in the Foothills Shopping Center there are some great restaurants:
Fuego Mexican grill: We love the Fajitas and the frozen Margaritas .
Forno Sports bar and grill: They make fantastic thin crust pizzas and this is a great place to take the family.
Mary's Bread Basket: Open for Breakfast and Lunch. Homemade bread for the variety of sandwiches, fantastic cinnamon rolls, biscuits, desserts. I go there often to buy their cranberry walnut bread by the loaf. They also bake and sell whole cakes.
In Jasper there are quite a lot of wonderful restaurants... A complete list is longer than I can put here, so go to trip advisor and see a more complete list. Here are some of our favorites!
The Carriage House: Open for breakfast and lunch. Besides everything on the menu being good, their coffees are fantastic and are know for there homemade desserts and "Jack's Toast" .
61 Main: Open for lunch and dinner, this is more of an upscale restaurant, farm to table style. When they are on the menu, order the black bean cakes, one of my favorite items.
BubaQ is a local award winning BBQ restaurant. They offer take out too... It is worth it to go inside, just to see all the BBQ awards they have earned.
There are some fun things to do in our area:
Gibbs Gardens: A 16-garden botanical garden that includes a Japanese and water lily garden, is located approximately 5 miles away from the farm. It has been featured in Southern Living magazine and is sought out by tourists far and wide.
Sharp Mountain Vineyards: They have won some awards for their wines, so stop by and enjoy a tasting.
If your family is larger than my farm can accommodate, there are quite a few homes for rent inside of Big Canoe. Kevin White of Mountain Vista Rentals can help you with additional accommodations .
