About Angelique Bennett

My husband and I fell in love with Bar Harbor 15 years ago when we visited with our first child. We now have 4 children and Bar Harbor and Acadia have become one of our families favorite vacation places; so much so that we decided to purchase Sunset.

Angelique Bennett purchased this house in 2013

Why Angelique Bennett chose Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island

Sunset is one of those special places that is hard to describe. Listed on the National Historic Registry, it provides a spectacular view of Frenchman's Bay. We fell in love with it the first time we saw it and purchase it 1 month later.

What makes this house unique

Sunset's charm lies in its historical beauty, its views and its location. We have done our best to furnish the house with antiques to maintain its old world charm. It truly is a one of a kind property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an absolutely wonderful week at your home! The beds are all so comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. It was nice to have so many large pots for our lobster boils. We cooked 27 pounds one night! We enjoyed cooking each evening and gathering around the long table (we put the game table at the end of the dining table in order to have a spot for everyone) for a delicious meal and fellowship.

Your home is in an ideal location. Many enjoyed walking to town for ice cream after supper and the sunsets over the water visible from the back of the house were unparalleled. We all especially enjoyed your large backyard. We played frisbee, horse shoes and bocce ball and the grandchildren enjoyed running around and playing in the yard.

Great House, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a home big enough for our large family that would work well for all ages. We were celebrating my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. The location was awesome in Bar Harbor. The kids enjoyed walking to Bar Island looking for sand dollars and starfish. My parent's couldn't walk that far but could still enjoy the highlights of the house/location b/c you can drive to Bar Island and you could drive into town. We brought our bikes which was great for biking the carriage trails in Acadia National Park and around Bar Harbor. Lots of things to do for the more adventurous but the house/view is so beautiful, it was nice just to relax in the sun room too for those who want more down time. Great for all ages. Just note that there are lots of stairs in the house and only one bedroom on the first floor. We highly recommend this home and would love to visit again someday!

A perfect house

  • 5 of 5

Sunset house was the perfect place to celebrate our 50 th anniversary with children and grandchildren - room for everyone to spread out and come together

From the chaos of preschoolers playing in the wide expansive yard to the quiet corners of the house everyone in our 70 plus year age span felt comfortable and at ease-Being able to walk everywhere in Bar Harbor from the sand bar to the shops and restaurants to the grocery store was a definite plus

And Sunset's closeness to Acadia entrances and hiking trails was amazing

"Sunset" home well-named; favorite time of day!

  • 5 of 5

Huge house, great for large families. Perfect location for walking to Sand Island and everywhere downtown. Ample parking. Three stories, lots of stairs; there is a good bedroom downstairs. Only 2 steps up to the front door. Quiet.

Great house, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival everyone was blown away by the size of the house. We were a group of 15 and fit very comfortably, even had rooms to spare. we enjoyed gathering on the back porch enjoying the water views. The location could not have been better. Bar Island is in your back yard and the heart of Bar Harbor was a 3 minute walk away. We did not need to use the car except for going into Acadia National Park.

Family get together

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Sunset, which is on the historic register, is like walking back in time...from the extensive butler's panty to the many bedrooms, many with water views, to the baths on the halls. The best feature is the location. You park in the driveway and walk anywhere you want to go--restaurants, pier, shops, the Y. There's a grill for cookouts, two sets of washer/dryers and plenty of silverware and dishes for a large group. It is not "modern" but it is very "Bar Harbor". It was a great week for our family get together.

Beautiful house, great location

We had a great time at beautiful Sunset! Some days we went biking, hiking and kayaking...all in the same day..without getting in the car. It was a wonderful week to celebrate my parent's 50th anniversary. Very clean and spacious.
