About Angelique Bennett

My husband and I fell in love with Bar Harbor 15 years ago when we visited with our first child. We now have 4 children and Bar Harbor and Acadia have become one of our families favorite vacation places; so much so that we decided to purchase Sunset.

Angelique Bennett purchased this house in 2013

Why Angelique Bennett chose Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island

Sunset is one of those special places that is hard to describe. Listed on the National Historic Registry, it provides a spectacular view of Frenchman's Bay. We fell in love with it the first time we saw it and purchase it 1 month later.

What makes this house unique

Sunset's charm lies in its historical beauty, its views and its location. We have done our best to furnish the house with antiques to maintain its old world charm. It truly is a one of a kind property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an absolutely wonderful week at your home! The beds are all so comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. It was nice to have so many large pots for our lobster boils. We cooked 27 pounds one night! We enjoyed cooking each evening and gathering around the long table (we put the game table at the end of the dining table in order to have a spot for everyone) for a delicious meal and fellowship.

Your home is in an ideal location. Many enjoyed walking to town for ice cream after supper and the sunsets over the water visible from the back of the house were unparalleled. We all especially enjoyed your large backyard. We played frisbee, horse shoes and bocce ball and the grandchildren enjoyed running around and playing in the yard.

Grand House and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Our group of senior citizens rented this grand, spacious house for our thirtieth fall reunion. A fine example of the period, the house has been selectively updated with modern conveniences without diminishing its charm. We found it to be very clean and more than adequately furbished for our stay. Being only a short walk from Bar Harbor village and convenient to Arcadia National Park, we found it to be ideally located. Highly recommended.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

The house was large enough for our big family vacation. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing family meals. It is a short walk to downtown. Plenty of off street parking is available. All day long people take pictures of the house. We felt like celebrities. Beautiful view while you eat. Loved the sun porch.

Sunset House, Bar Harbor, Maine

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have rented this home 2 times now and will be returning in 2017. We love the house! Wonderful location to everything we like to do and it's right on the bay with a beautiful view and with Bar Island right down the street, it couldn't be more perfect. Great kitchen with all the amenities, lots of room for everyone to spread out and relax, which is important at the end of a busy hiking/canoeing/shopping day! I would and have recommended this home to family and friends.

Lovely vacation in Bar Harbor!

  • 5 of 5

We spent our annual family reunion at Sunset House in Bar Harbor with 9 adults and 2 babies. The wonderful back lawn was perfect for many games of frisbee, a slip 'n slide, baby wading pool and afternoon naps on a blanket in the shade. We waded in the tide pools and crossed the sandbar to Bar Island with access to the water just steps away. The town of Bar Harbor is right there - we never drove anywhere for lunch and dinner with everything in walking distance for young and old. Evenings were spent sitting on the back steps watching the sky turn shades of pink and orange as the sun went down. Very peaceful and relaxing! Sunset House is a lovely historic home at a very convenient location to everything!

Maison sunset

  • 4 of 5

Our family rented this spacious home to celebrate our parent's 60th wedding anniversary. A total of 18 people stayed, ages 5yr-82yr old. There were plenty of places for everyone to go, from a large dining room, to a small eating area, good sized living room to a porch overlooking the Bay. The house was clean and well furnished. The location was perfect! Walking distance to down town area and to Bar Island. I highly recommend this rental for families and large get togethers!! Four stars because response time with the owner was not always as quick as I hoped. Regardless, this is a wonderful home!

Great House, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a home big enough for our large family that would work well for all ages. We were celebrating my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. The location was awesome in Bar Harbor. The kids enjoyed walking to Bar Island looking for sand dollars and starfish. My parent's couldn't walk that far but could still enjoy the highlights of the house/location b/c you can drive to Bar Island and you could drive into town. We brought our bikes which was great for biking the carriage trails in Acadia National Park and around Bar Harbor. Lots of things to do for the more adventurous but the house/view is so beautiful, it was nice just to relax in the sun room too for those who want more down time. Great for all ages. Just note that there are lots of stairs in the house and only one bedroom on the first floor. We highly recommend this home and would love to visit again someday!
