About Melissa

Greetings! We are Bob and Melissa Mannix, your hosts and the property owners. We enjoy the opportunity to meet new people from different places so we feel very well suited to hosting travelers and long term visitors to our area. Although we have both had "jobs" in the hospitality business before, it actually goes a bit deeper than that for us - you could even say hospitality is in our blood. We both find a certain fulfillment in hosting visitors, providing the comforts of home and a friendly face along with the occasional local's insight that makes your time here meaningful and memorable. We have lived here in Monterey for over a decade now and the time here has flown by, we know we have found our "forever" place. The people, the scenery, the outstanding weather year-round all make for a privileged living experience that we can highly recommend. We are both native Californians but between the two of us we have lived in a number of places over the years - Little Rock, Chicago, Denver and Napa Valley to name a few. Bob is semi-retired from decades as a General Contractor and I am happy to spend time cooking, reading and planning our next great adventure. Why Melissa chose Monterey

We chose this property because of the location and proximity to downtown, the Recreation Trail and the beach. The location is perfect for those who like to leave the car parked and walk or bike around, which is what we do everyday. The size of the property (our home plus two separate and distinctive rentals) allows us flexibility to host visitors, friends and family or a combination of all of those with ease and privacy for everyone.

What makes this cottage unique

This property is unique because of the arrangement- a welcoming patio space sits in the middle of the property and can be shared by both rentals together, just one rental or by us - it is a very flexible set up that can accommodate a variety of needs. Each part of the property feels private and has unique qualities, yet altogether the property is a welcoming and inviting space. Guests rave about the quiet and convenient location that is ideally situated to experience the best of Monterey, but still provides an oasis of comfort in a beautiful setting.

Exceeded our expectations!

We experienced the most delightful VRBO stay to date. It was a perfect home away from home. Our hosts provided everything we could possibly need, including a hot tub, BBQ and bicycles. It was especially nice to arrive to a well-stocked kitchen, i.e fresh eggs, homemade sourdough bread, croissants, and a wonderful homemade Tomato and Balsamic Jam and a whole lot more. There was enough breakfast for our entire stay. There was a notebook with information on Monterey, which we found very helpful. Wished we could have stayed longer. Great location. Perfect hospitality. We would love to return.

Can't beat this place!

What an amazing property and experience. Melissa and Bob are top notch. Their background in Hospitality really shows. Down to the last detail they did all the little things that really made this trip special. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time on our trip to spend on the property. From the fresh lemonade that was outstanding, to the hand made jams and all kinds of other goodies it really was special. The location is amazing you don't even need a car to go to beach and Cannery Row. The bikes they provided were a lot of fun. Recommend this place to anybody! Have fun, enjoy, thanks again you two!

Charming and Comfortable

We had an excellent stay in this sweet Monterey VRBO. It was excellently maintained and the owners had clearly thought about the stay from a renters perspective. The studio was clean, charming and comfortable. The outdoor living spaces were comfortable and private. We enjoyed sitting outside by the fire in the evenings. A lot of extras were provided that we found very helpful: picnic backpack, beach chairs, bikes, washer and dryer, hand made lemon marmalade and other basics in the refrigerator. They also had an excellent binder with suggested restaurants, activities and places to visit. The studio was easily in walking distance of the wharf and many local restaurants. We would absolutely stay here again!

Truly A Hidden Treasure!

This was more than expected! Such a charming and relaxing place to have a "little get-away". We stayed the weekend and would have loved to have stayed longer. So many nice touches, all the amenities one would expect and more. Breakfast items, home made lemonade and the home made lemon marmalade was exceptionally delicious! The bed was extremely comfortable and having the private yard and patio provided the perfect spot to read and relax. Short walk to the beach and Fisherman's Warf was really nice as well. Just such a cute place; we can't wait to go back! Thanks so much for everything Melissa & Bob.

What a wonderful place to stay!!! Melissa & Bob have thought of every detail and then some. We absolutely loved the property and all the amenities. Easy to get to, nice trail where you can enjoy a morning stroll around two different ponds just a block away. You have complete privacy, will definitely be coming back here!!!
