Why Melissa Smith chose Northern Michigan

The Schoolhouse Cottage is a charming historic house which we really loved renovating. Suttons Bay feels like a resort. Reading and sun-bathing on the beach, sailing and kayaking in the bay, playing tennis, trying new restaurants, exploring cute shops, relaxing in cafes, everything you want to do is right there within a 5 minute walk.

What makes this house unique

The Schoolhouse Cottage has a generous open living and dining room which we love for entertaining friends. The street is quiet, yet very close to town. The outdoor patio is a favorite spot for early morning coffee as well as for long family dinners sharing summer memories!

Went to Traverse City for a girls weekend. We had my 80 year old aunt with us and it was easy for her to get in and out of the house. It was nice to have restaurants within walking distance.

Summer Wedding Stay

  • 4 of 5

Dear Melissa ,

I want you to know that we enjoyed our stay in the Schoolhouse cottage. We had up to 8 people in the cottage. I believe all our party enjoyed their stay. We found the cottage, spacious, well located, bright and airy. We had good cell phone and internet connectivity.

Melissa in a few words I would not hesitate to return.

From our standpoint we were happy with your cottage.

If it is all about location, location, location your cottage, for us, is ideally located. Everything is close by. Suttons Bay offers nice shopping and dining choices. While there we dined at the VI, Boone's, Martha's, and North Country. All a walk from the cottage.

And OK. I'll admit it --- we also made more than one stop at the ice cream store on the corner.

Lake Leelanau is close by, the Dunes, Glen Arbor, North Port, ( Lighthouse, State Park, Cathead Bay), Leland and Fishtown all an easy drive. The TART trail a couple blocks away from the cottage was used by a few of us who bike. And if that isn't enough the cottage is just approximately 15 miles from TC.

While up north, some members of our party accomplished what we have dubbed the "Leelanau Triple Crown", which is, to us, a swim in Lake Michigan, Lake Leelanau, and the Bay, all in one day.

You were a pleasure to work with before, during and after our stay.

Our thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
