The Farmer's Inn Sleeps 6 With Hilltop Views Off The Front Porch.
About Jean Bekkedal
Gary's Norwegian roots come from this beautiful area of Wisconsin where he was born. We have been on our farm 43 years. Gary was a retired teacher from Viroqua Atea Schools, while stayed home taking care of our 3 girls when young, along with the farm. Our 3 daughters & their live close, within 12 miles.
Jean Bekkedal purchased this Cabin in 2001
Why Jean Bekkedal chose Viroqua
Gary & I love this beautiful area of Wisconsin with it's many trout streams, high bluffs and deep valleys. We loved this farm because of it has wooded areas as well as crop land. The sound of birds singing wakes us in the morning, the big, beautiful sky full of nighttime stars.
What makes this Cabin unique
The Farmer's Inn was fashioned after the mountain cabins of Norway. Gary designed it & local carpenters built it. Sit on the front porch & enjoy the view. All-wood, the cabin is cozy & comfortable. Newly finished downstairs floors are beautiful.

Awesome stay at the cabin.
I cannot say enough positive things about Jean and Gary. That were fabulous hosts. My granddaughter was able to gather eggs, feed the goats, and sheep. She pet the cows. I’m not sure who had more fun doing this, Grace or me. The cabin is very nice and it was very clean too. Great place to stay.
Beautiful farm and warm, welcoming hosts
Gary and Jean are one of the most gracious, warm and welcoming host we have known. It was a true blessing to spend time with them and stay at their beautiful cabin and farm! We are thankful for the farm tour and loved feeding the calf and the horses! We hope to visit again!
If you are looking to get away for some peace and quiet, try this beautiful location! Great sunsets, scenery, hosts, and accommodation. You’ll be glad you did!
Wonderful place, even better hosts
The hosts treated our family like their own, and made for a great getaway.
Great Cottage with Great Hosts!
We were thrilled staying at this cottage. It was clean and cozy and just felt like the perfect getaway. We spent most of our time fishing so didnt spend much time in the cabin, but are definitely looking forward to going back for a more relaxing weekend.
Couldn't have asked for better hosts! The property is beautiful!
3 Pleasant Days - Exploring Vernon County and surrounds.
The Norwegian Cabin was essentially as represented on VRBO. Jean and Gary were very responsive and helpful in getting us oriented to the area. Sleeping and kitchen facilities, internet and ac/heating equipment all very good. Sleeping on second floor with single bathroom on first floor was a minor inconvenience for senior types like us. TV is basic cable. This cabin is away from the traffic, with an ‘out in the country’ feeling, yet accessible to interesting things to see. We especially enjoyed our time in historic Prairie du Chien and learning more about Amish settlements and culture. We don’t fish, but It seemed like we were close to excellent trout streams. Overall, a relaxing experience.
