You'll be sitting on top of the world at this spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bath Penthouse with open living room and fully-equipped kitchen.

The jaw-dropping 270-degree view includes Diamond Head, sweeping ocean view, Ala Wai Canal, Ala Wai golf course, Ft DeRussy park, the beautiful Koolau Mountain Range, sunrises AND sunsets!

At over 1000 square feet (large by Waikiki standards) the penthouse will comfortably sleep 6. The ocean-side master bedroom has a king bed, the Diamond Head-side master bedroom has two full beds and the living room has a new Queen sofa bed. In addition, we also have a crib available for no charge. The bedrooms, living/dining room and kitchen all have spectacular views. Every Friday night you can watch the fireworks launched from the nearby Hilton Hawaiian Village and on special occasions you'll see a bigger show on Waikiki Beach.

You'll have a fully equipped kitchen with full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, blender, coffee pot and grinder, pots and pans, silverware and just about anything else you need. To top it off the kitchen has a panoramic ocean view!

One bathroom features a Japanese-style deep bath tub (furo) with shower. The second bathroom has a walk-in shower. You'll also have your own washer and dryer in the penthouse.

A supply cabinet contains beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels and assorted beach items.

You'll enjoy the huge recreation deck with large swimming pool, hot tub, barbecue grills, picnic tables and lounge chairs. There are no resort fees to use these facilities. Also onsite is a new fitness center which is ALMOST free: it only cost $5 for your entire stay (not per day).

There is a large flat-screen TV with cable service. The free high-speed WIFI is your own private network, not shared with other units and is powerful enough for the whole family to share their vacation experience.

The Hawaii Convention Center is within walking distance as are the Hilton Hawaiian Village and other venues where conventions are held. If you must do business while in Waikiki there is a desk in one of the bedrooms and also a nook in the dining area.

The Hawaiian Monarch is a mixture of hotel-owned and privately-owned units. Our penthouse is privately owned, managed and maintained; is not part of the Hawaiian Monarch hotel pool. There are only 3 other penthouses on the same floor.

Parking is available in the onsite parking garage. The garage is privately owned and the rate at the time of this writing is $25/day, typical for Waikiki, but with full in and out privileges. Parking is not included in the rent as the majority of our guests do not rent a car. The penthouse has a Walk Score of 92 (out of 100). Some guests rent a car for a day of exploring from one of the nearby car rental companies.

Within walking distance are a great number of restaurants, shopping including Ala Moana Shopping Center, resorts, grocery and convenience stores, music venues, sports bar, post office, green parks, Waikiki Beach Walk and of course Waikiki Beach itself!

Waikiki and the surrounding area have a gazillion things to do. Of course there is the world's most famous beach. Many water sports are available including surfing, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, snorkeling, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, parasailing and more. There is shopping for everything from souvenir trinkets to high end luxury stores and everything in between.

Hear world-class music at many resorts, Blue Note Jazz Club, the Waikiki Shell, the Blaisdell Arena and local musicians playing rock, jazz, and of course, Hawaiian.

Honolulu has an extensive public bus system and there is a bus stop across the street from the penthouse. Buses reach many areas all over the island including major destinations such as Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay, Chinatown, Honolulu Airport, Honolulu Zoo, The Aquarium and others.

In addition to all these visitor attractions there is something else that makes it worth coming to Hawaii: the Hawaiian culture. Aloha is a real thing, not just a buzz word. You'll know it when you experience it. We encourage you to learn about the culture and history via the many museums and to make personal connections with Hawaiian people.

About Steve Marcotte

We have owned and managed Hawaii Vacation Rentals since 1993 and helped many thousands of guests to enjoy their stay in paradise. We are a boutique rentals and sales company that focus our attention on a small number of properties.

Steve is a real estate broker and has been licensed in Hawaii since 1999. Iku is a licensed real estate agent and a native Japanese speaker. We have traveled extensively and this gives us an understanding of what our guests need to make their stay enjoyable and safe. And being owners of rentals gives us the experience to help others buy and sell rentals and second homes.

We founded a vacation rental company named A Piece of Paradise on Hawaii Island (aka The Big Island) in 1996 and managed wonderful vacation homes in a special area named Kapoho. In 2011 we sold A Piece of Paradise and began relocating to Honolulu. A multi-year search for properties followed, and our hard work paid off!

In addition to managing our own properties we also love to help others buy their own piece of paradise in Hawaii. Even if you cannot live in Hawaii full time, It is a wonderful feeling to know that you have property is here and you can come whenever you want. The accommodation was just what we wanted. Clean and tidy. Any issues were dealt with immediately. The view was amazing. Positioned slightly away from the main hub of Waikiki which suited us fine, finding different ways to walk to and from the shops and beaches.

Property, 2 bed Penthouse was exactly as described in the VRBO listing. The owner was great in providing instructions on location and check in. Quick to reply to any of my questions or concerns prior to arrival. During our stay everything was as perfect and we had no reason to contact Steve.

The condo was located at the entrance to Waikiki, with a 7-11, ABC Store and subway at the end of the street, for those late arrival needs.

We hope to return to Hawaii soon and would recommend this property to others planning a visit to Hawaii.

Great views

It was awesome to have a washer and dryer in the room. Steve was great with communication. Everything was within a mile. Make sure to rent cars daily and do in advanced. Parking is not cheap. Penthouse was great for 6 people. We left 3 blow up rings to add to the collection.

Very comfy stay.

We are a family of 5. We slept very well having good comfy beds makes a big difference in your vacation. We loved the apartment. I love how the kitchen is fully furnished and you can cook a full meal if you want to. Having a washing machine and dryer in the apartment made it so easy for us. There is Ac's through the apartment and I love the fact that each area has its own AC control. Yesterday it was 95 degree outside but we didn't feel it. The AC in the family room was on AMD I didn't need to turn the AC in the girl's bedroom on as the cold air was coming into the bedroom from the living room.

There is beach chairs and towels and some sand toys for the kids. My kids are older so they didn't use these toys even tho I wanted to use them lol.

Omg wait I should have started with the view. The view is out of this world. I love looking out of the windows early morning for sunrise.

Steve is very nice gentleman whenever we texted him or called him he would respond right away.

Parking is available but if you do what we did and rent the biggest car in the island make sure you take the outside parking so you don't hit the top of your rented car every time you try to park your car. There is restaurant and cafe in the lobby there is a car rental office, small overpriced store if you want water or milk and there is a nightclub I think or bar as well. Like you don't have to leave the building at night if you are not in the mood to leave. U can have dinner and go clubbing. At first seeing the club made me nervous but in our 10 days stay we didn't have any issues. It's very very comfy and safe building.

if we ever come back again to this island I will be for sure renting the apartment again if it's available.

Could enjoy three-direction views at the same time, but some disappointments available also

We stayed seven nights from later June to early July at the 40th-floor condo room of this highrise condo-hotel complex (Hawaiian Monarch). As you could see from the attached photo, we could enjoy every morning till night magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean, lines of houses on the uphill residential discticts beyond Ala Wai Cannal, and of course, ever-changing colours of the Diamond Head. Surely, Waikiki is perfectly free from smog, and we have keenly learned clouds over this Island moving continuously from east (mountain-side) to west (sea-side). We had temporarily felt being an active meteorogist.

Needless to say, there are many plus factors about this condo having a big living room with windows facing to three-directions, but some negative points got into our sight. First, as this complex is close to 40 years old, like myself already passing 70 years old, there was a trouble (not so serious) at the sewage system in the kitchen sink during our stay, and sound of elevator ups-and-downs was heared on the bed pillow during night. Second, as this condo stands between two main-trunk roads (Ala Wai Blvd. and Kalakaua Ave.) , lots of siren sound from emergency cars invaded our rooms especially during night. We have keenly recognized that many emergency medical service cars are moving around this place throughout the day. At this Heaven Island, there are many occasions to call for such emergency service, unfortunately. We have felt being an active ambulance chaser, in this case meaning not maney-making lawyers but sincere medical doctors.

To sum up, we really enjoyed various tree flowers (as I like much white plumeria) around this island. Thank everybody involved this VRBO-rental systems for this valuable experince. On thing to add---I unfortunately got a disease of being dizzy last February due to perhaps temporally catching a cold, and still feel dizziness some time. Back to Kobe, Japan, I am still now dancing hula without partners.

The world famous Waikiki Beach is only a 10 minute walk. Many restaurants (Thai, Japanese, Hard Rock Cafe, Irish, Wolfgang's Steak House, Italian and MANY MANY more) are within walking distance.

People attending conventions in Honolulu find the Penthouse a reasonably priced alternative to staying at a hotel. If family members are traveling too then it is even less expensive compared to a hotel.

It is within easy walking distance of popular convention facilities such as the Hawaii Convention Center, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Ala Moana Hotel and the Hawaii Prince Hotel. It is also within a longer walking distance or short drive or taxi ride to meeting and conventions at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, Waikiki Beach Marriott, Sheraton Waikiki, Halekulani, Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and the Royal Hawaiian.
