About Vacasa, CA - Lake Tahoe Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wifes family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

We have been renting from Vacasa for past five years and this house was the biggest disappointment. Either the other houses went above and beyond or the Vacasa bar has dropped. The following pros and cons are in comparison to the past houses rented from Vacasa.

Pinewood Retreat Pros:

- Spacious house

- Kitchen was stocked with clean serving wear

- Good location

- Water pressure and heater were good

- central heating worked good

- Hot tub was decent once you got the super heavy cover off

- Did not have to do "check out chores" except for running the dishwasher.

Pinewood Retreat Cons:

- Comforters were OLD - either dirty or torn or both. BRING YOUR OWN!

- Pillows were flattened and had stains (gross!)

- Toilets don't flush normal - you have to hold the lever down until it's all gone.

- No recycle bin (Keep Tahoe blue?) - we ended up bringing a lot of recyclable trash back with us

- You can feel the wooden frame of the couch when you sit on it because the pillows are flat

- Cookwear - Pots/pans were greasy and rusty

- Pantry was empty (was expecting basics like salt, pepper, sugar, coffee etc)

- The fence is broken in many places, the side gate doesn't serve the purpose either.

- The deck is a trip hazard - not leveled due to a ghetto attempt at fixing it

- House rules do not allow dogs on furniture or bed

- There were dust bunnies, kibble and pet hair bunnies under and behind furniture - so much for pet fees

In addition to the pros and cons listed above, this house just needs an overall upgrade (furniture, paint, kitchen appliances, Tube TVs). We read the guestbook at the house and found similar reviews from previous guests. The maintenance is poor for a house that has been a rental since 2010. Everything is circa 70s and it is not Mad Men quality! With the current condition of the house, $1000 for 3 nights (6 adults, 2 kids, 3 medium/small dogs) was a bit much. We ended up purchasing a queen set and pillows the first day in Tahoe, and the trash was not the souvenir we had planned to bring back!

Dog friendly, clean home

  • 5 of 5

We have booked this home 5 times so far. We will not book any other home in the South Tahoe area. Extra large backyard for our big dogs. Fence does need some work, our dogs found 2 spots to escape out of. Last time we stayed we brought boards to patch the fence. It looks like some efforts have been made to repair. Keep up the good work because we are looking forward to staying again. The house was spotless. Missing was a blender, there was one the last time we were there. I missed making my morning fruit smoothie. 1 glass in the cupboard was cracked. Other than that our stay was absolutely one of the best relaxing visits. Looking forward to going back!

Furnishing are old, uncomfortable, outdated and appear to be broken. If you like the 70/80's look well. The deck is a joke. It's not a deck is pieces of wood that looks like a deck. Pieced together with plywood, fencing and whatever scrap wood they could find. They should use some of the fencing on the deck and actually use it on the fence, which needs Major repair. Bring your own "Deck Chairs" because the ones provided are terrible. They can't even fix a latch on a gate. Come on. Numerous lights out throughout the home. Some hanging by wires. A headboard not connected to the bed was a pain. Dog friendly true but be careful. The scrap marks on the "Master Bedroom" are a clue that dogs had been there before. The house in one word. STALE. I've renting in Spain, England, Scotland and Lake Tahoe numerous times. Will never rent from a VACASA Home again. Overpriced for what you get. If I could get my money back I would.
